2005 Pev's Tournament Series Info

[Paintballblues]

Pev's Paintball is pleased to announce another year of the hugely successful Pev's Tournament Series 3-Man Division. Last year, over 100 teams participated in the popular series and this year expects to have even more! Over $10,000 worth of trophies and prizes will be awarded at each event. Over $100,000 in prizes will be awarded over the 10-event series.

The 2005 PTS will again hold its events at the Mid Atlantic Region's premier paintball facility, Pevs Paintball Park in Leesburg, Virginia.

Each PTS 3-Man event will feature three divisions of play:

14 & UNDER Division:
All competitors must be 14 & under to compete in this division.
Registration Fee: $130 per team

ROOKIE Division:
Less than 1-year tournament experience
(If you played ANY tournament prior to 2005 you are not eligible to play) No 5-man experience, No national experience.
Registration Fee: $150 per team

NOVICE Division:
No NPPL, or PSP experienced players. Local tournament experience only (which will now include the IAO & Ultimate Madness.)
Registration Fee: $180 per team

All Games Played on Fully Netted, Grass Surfaced, Ultimate Air Ball or Hyperball fields. All Referees are Nationally-Ranked PSP Players.

The series sounds sweet. But there were a few things that bugged me and the guys on the team last year. Is it going to be bring your own paint (doesn't have to be from pev's) this year, because spending $100 dollars a month (paint + entry) isn't that easy for most people.

And also, will you be able to bring however many cases your team is going to shoot and not a minimum of 5 or whatever?

Your going to have to bring paint that you bought from Pevs I doubt they are going to change that.

And while you may have o buy paint for a Pevs Shop its not like your having to buy over priced tournament paint at the field. The idea of bring it from the shops to save people the hassel of having to try and buy all thier paint at the field.

that is a hell of a lot easier, its not that big of a deal to buy it from a pevs store... its less than tournament paint from ne where else... its not like they are throwin up prices so u will pay more...

The basics will remain in place the same as last year.

Teams will be required to buy their paint from any Pev's proshop. The advantage here is that they can buy anypaint they choose to shoot. You are not limited to "field paint" as some series do, and we DO NOT raise our prices for events as MOST tournaments do.

Yes YOUTH teams are required to purchase 3 cases of paint.

Let's break that down. That is 1 case per player (2000 rounds) and each team plays a minimum of 7 games so that breaks down to 286 balls per game. I can't see how that is unreasonable.

Rookie and Novice teams are required to buy 4 cases, or 2500 balls per player.

That's 358 balls per game.

That's one hopper plus a reload pod. Again I can't see how anyone feels that is unreasonable.

We all put a great deal of effort into each and eveyone of our events.

We have PRO TEAMS that travel from all over the country to USE THE SAME FIELDS we use for the PTS because of the quality level of our facility.

We care about our players and feel we have one of the best value ratios in the industry for our players. Where else in the paintball industry can local 3-man teams play for $10,000 + worth of prizes every month?

Just a few thoughts. I know "we" personally look forward to exceeding everyones expectations again this year and are always open to suggestions to make things better.

There is a practice scheduled for Sunday feb 27th from 10am - 2pm.

We are also having the anniversary big game that day so there will be lots of players seeing tournament style play live for the 1st time.

Individual event prizes are typically determined within 14 days of the events. Our sponsors commit to us for the whole year and then they choose what they want to award that month. It will change thru out the year as new products are relaeased.

Just look at the series prizes 3-DM5's, 3-Eclipse EGO's, & 3-Shocker visions.

Needless to say each event will award Markers, Air Systems, Packs, Gear Bags, Barrels, Barrel Kits, Hoppers, Jerseys, Goggles, Pants, Paint etc.

It's interesting that some of the comments we get "challenge" the prizes we award!

We worK very hard pulling the PTS together and are quite proud of our prizes, vendors from around the world are climbing on board.

for those of you who still wonder about our prize packages please take a few moments and search other "local" tourney series from anywhere in the country and find anyone who awards more than we do.

Prizes & Throphies 1st - 4th, Prizes 5th - 8th IN ALL THREE Divisions. Over $12,000 awarded at each event adds up to over $120,000 for the season, not counting the series championship prizes.

The DVD's are a good idea I will pass it on and see what we can do.

do you really have to buy 3 cases of paint form pevs if ur doing youth? my team is poor and can barely afford the 130 playing fee let alone buy one case of paint

Yeah...the cases of paint are what you need minimum just to get through the 8 or so games in the qualifying round. Let's say each of your 3 guys shots 200 rounds (a hopper or two) per game. That's 600 balls per game...so in 4 games you've cleared more than a case. After the prelims you've gone through 2 and a half. Think you can get through playoffs on another half a case? :confused: And these numbers are on the conservative end.

Due to protect the playing surface of the tournament fields from the melting snow the decision has been made to cancel the scheduled 3 man practice to Feb 27th.

The BIG GAME is still on though.

We will try to reschedule the practice for the following Sunday (MArch 6th)

i never really got a clear answer, can i pay for the registration and buy the paint sunday morning before the games?

Just to keep you guys informed.

Registration will start at 7:00am on Sunday. You need to PRE register your team by close of business on Friday March 11th.

Captain's meeting will be at 8:30am on Sunday March 13th.

If your team fails to register before the captain's meeting htere is a good chance you will forfiet your 1st game. We are not going to hold up the start of the tourney because people can't show up on time.

No cars are to go up top to the tourney fields UNTIL the team registers and gets their parking pass.

1 car per team up top.


2005 Field Entry chrono limit will now be 270fps. Due to the small size of the fields, the intensity of the action, and the speed (bps) of the newer guns we are doing htis for our players safety.

NO Ramping, Rebound Mode, or Switch Bounce will be allowed. All guns will be checked at the chrono sttion prior to going on to the field.

Any illegal guns caught there will be no penalty but will not be allowed on the field.

Any illegal gun caught on the field will be removed from the tournament, and a 2 for 1 penalty will be awarded, any team caught a second time the enitre team will be disqualified from the event.

All of these issues will be addressed at the captain's meeting.

Yes and Yes. That's illegal. If you're not pulling the trigger and it goes off it's bounce and that's verboten. If it's doing that just messing around on the sideline, the vibration from the marker's recoil will cause it to bounce during a game. So...unless you want a risk a 2 for 1 and forfeit during a game I suggest removing the bounce.

Alwaysinsession: I'd play this weekend but I have a baby shower to go to :( and can't sneak out of that. I don't think you're playing novice anyways.

i coulnt play ($$$ issues) but i was able to watch my old team get there ***** handed to them in novice. haha it was so funny. i think the highlight of the day was wen 2 of our playrs guns wer shootin hot and had to play without guns. so they just ran for the flag and looked funny and got ripped doing it. (they dint get the flag :mad: ) haha it was great (team name was da wankstas by the way)

OVER Memorial Day Weekend IN North ALA.

This will be a big weekend in Decatur AL. We will start on Friday with registration and walkdowns, then go into Saturday and Sunday as soon as the balloons lift off with the first sound of GO GO GO......

There will actually be two tournament brackets set up. The primary tournament will be a 5 man tourney, looking at 3 divisions, Open, Novice and Rookie. Tenative prize packages $5,000 per div.

The second Tourney, but just as important will be a SKINZ sponsored event, that will net a $20,000 prize purse. There will be 100 2-man teams, or 80 2 man teams and 20 1 man (maverick) teams. The maverick is a one man against 2 event. Ask more I'll explain later. The primary entry fee for this event will be $250.00 per team. First place will receive $15,000 Second Place $3000, and third will get $2000, that's right I did say Thousand. This is the first invitational of it's kind and will be very exciting to play in and watch. Wileys currently has two positions of the 100 reserved. We will release these on a first come first serve basis, so if your interested come by the store as soon as possible to get your spot in history. More positions may be available to the store after the 15th of April. I will offer them as they come available. Please get your spot quickly.

On Monday, we will host a local three man event that will consist of all non-tournament rookie teams. I may set and age limit event but haven't decided on that format as of yet. This will be a prize only event, and cost 90.00 per team Ask me in the store or check the website for details as they become available.

OK Guys,

Sorry it's been a while since we posted here. Been on vacation then we had some Web Site glitches.

All is well now.

1st the Series Scores are up and it seems pretty simple to tell the difference between 2004 and 2005's scores. Like if you look at a bracket and it only has one score in it it's most likely 2005.

As for teams not being there, only one that I know of (sorry restricted no offense intended) and that was fixed.

As for Photos, we're working on it.

As for practice, most likely not gonna happen for the April event. There is a MAJOR 7-Man / X-Ball practice at the field this weekend, and we have a HUGE scenario Game next weekend. Then the following weekend is the April Event.

If we think there is any way to have a practice during the big game we will try. STAY TUNED.

I'd say its a good idea to do it Monday-Friday considering the tourny is on Sunday(17th)

you have to register before the friday befor the tourney plus buy paint at most 7 days ahead

We will register evey team that wants to play and we will take registreations at every store up until the very last minute we can (Normally 2PM on the Saturday before the tourney.

I begin making the schedules at 3-4 pm on Saturday afternoon.

Teams need to buy their paint between the 11th and the 17th for this event.

i have a suggestion.

for the pts practice there aren't alot of teams that hear about it and there are also other events as well not as noticed as they should be. so... i have seen on other pball fields homepages they have their own forums which are obviously easier for the average pballer to see rather than on pbnation. so i recommend pevs puts a forum on their homepage with topics such as, news, field, stores, tech, classifeds, teams, non pball, and comments. tell me what you think "D"

Thanks for the suggestion, we have considered it but for the moment we are allocating our resourses elsewhere webwise. We just have so much going on as an organization at the moment.

That's why we like PB Nation so much. I am gonna get the practice shedule up on our site though so more people see it.

Have you guys seen anything on the start zones for the fields? They were really muddy last time, maybe they could put down something to help control the mud, small rocks or something. Just a suggestion.

We tried to cut off registration at 80 teams last time dennis......... are we not doing the same? Last i heard (4/14) we had almost 60 teams and everybody waits till the last second anyway i.e. friday or saturday all teams still not registered i would advise coming in on friday earlier the better

Yes you can buy paint the day of the event at the field or you can save a few dollars and buy it at any of Pev's stores the week of the tournament.

1max2nv- its not very embarrasing to lose, chances are you will play like 2 teams that will go to semis and will lose. anyway there are alot more teams that get held back then go on to semis. dont worry its your first tourney and have fun, i know i did.

I had a great time out there. My team came in 3rd in the Rookie division. We cruised through the first 4 games but lost the last 2 games in the prelim. We only won one game in the semi but got enough points on the other two loosing games to make it to the finals by 4 points. Aggression came in first and Unknown soliders came in second in the Rookie divison.

My team thought i was running to left side of the 50 but i was going to the right sooooo one of them managed to shoot me in the back of the head and then got out himself :) . We came in 3rd last time but we bombed this time. Im sure we will be in the top 4 again next month :dodgy:
