Review of the Total-Eclipse paintball field in Thornburg, VA.

After passing this field many a-time for a while, without even noticing it, I thought nothing of this field. So, today I decided to play at it. In this review I will be covering every aspect of this field, explaining every detail about it.

First Impressions:

When I pulled into this field’s parking lot, I said to myself “Is this it?!” This field was rather small, containing two sup-air fields and a woods ball field, or two. However, the one thing I did pick out was that the field was actually clean. Also, this field was very well positioned; right in the center of a major shopping area, so mom and dad won’t have to stay there the whole time. However, when I get more in-depth, you will see how the other qualities of this make up for its small size

Pro Shop:

When I walked inside the pro-shop, it seemed like a regular pro shop to me. The pro-shop was very clean, and equipment was very easy to get to. However, there was one thing that stood out about this shop, SELF SERVE COMPRESSED AIR. Yes, you heard me right, no more lines at the air station! Also, the prices there were so low, they were unheard of. Even the field paint was cheap; I picked up a nice case of ZAP for $35.00. Also, many of the guns are several hundred dollars under MSRP, I found a brand new ICD Freestyle for $600 new. I knew that I was going to come here more often!

The field:
As you read earlier, the field is small, and the owners probably know that also. However this is not meant to be an insult to the field. You may ask, “How You just said it was small?” Well, think of it this way, a smaller means less people, which means higher quality of play. A team could probably practice on one of the SUP-AIR fields without being disturbed all day long. Also, the fields are clean, so you won’t be stepping in your own paint from last tournament, two months ago. Also, I need to give major props to the referee staff, for keeping this place full of grass, and not a giant pit of mud. Also, the SUP-AIR and the woods ball fields are well laid out.

The Referees:
The referees did a very good job refereeing the players. These referees were un-biased and they took pride in their work. Obviously, these referees wanted to provide a good paintball experience for everyone there, and they actually looked like they wanted to be there. Also, the referees actually enforced the rules and there were no “Ifs Ands or Buts” if there was a violation. Keep up the good work!

The Home Team:
At most fields, you will have what we call a “Home Team” A home team is basically a team that is sponsored by the field, and most of the time they are referees. Also, most home teams are ***** to the walk on players, this team actually did not beat up on the walk on kids; instead, they looked for players of their skill level. Remember the time you beat a field’s home team, and they threw a fit? Well, this team is different. If you do beat this team, which is team “Rising”, do not fear! Instead of steaming off of the field saying that you cheated, they will actually congratulate you for your win. When I saw this happen, I was very surprised. Also, members of team Rising will actually offer advice to help your playing skills. So, I give many props to Rising for being great sportsman.

Concluding thoughts:
This is a great field that everyone should try at least once. Believe me, it’s worth the drive! After playing at this field for a few hours, they definitely have me as a regular attendee for quite a while! So, what are you waiting for, give Total Eclipse Paintball a try!

Final Rating: 10/10
