I own a small Pro-shop In Leesburg VA. Its a Franchise store and I own it.
I have one store, one store only and I try to offer the best services and prices I can. I am in the Midst of a Heavily competitive area. Pevs paintball has a Empire of stores.
That is why I am Saddened when I repeatedly hear people tell me the LIES they tell about my one store. THEY HAVE AN EMPIRE. The Largest Chain in the US and they still feel threatened by my one store?
They say I sell old paint, that we have no techs! My paint is no older then 2 months! I have been certified by Smart Parts My Self!
Yes I know about the Hogback Vs Pevs thing, I DONT CARE, I am separate I don't even play at hogback often anymore and am as often seen at pevs. Hell I prefer Tainy Town.
I got into this Business for the Love of the Sport, and am constantly attacked by this CORPORAT GIANT with Lies about my store!
I am a Marine Infantrymen, I know about honor, Sacrifice and have seen both the good and bad of the world. But there is no Honor in Pevs attacking my one shop like this, Having them pose as my store on the internet (They purchased the rights to a web name similar to mine) and having there employees laugh about it, brag about it in my store.
Perhaps Pevs has become the largest and most successful store in the world. Perhaps they have reached such a Corporate level that they don't need those small things like Service and Honor. But I still believe in the Sport, I believe in Honor, I believe in what's right and telling the Truth.
Call me old Fashioned, Call me a Optimist, Call me a United States Marine, say I love the sport but somewhere some people in the sport have stepped off the path.

Yo Keith...you want some cheese with that whine? Maybe it isn't your store but the other stores that are the problem. Let's start with my gripes...
1) Hogback Mountain (which Check-It is affiliated with, last that I knew) sucks. They are flat out terrible. There's nothing in the way of netting. Their fields, refs, parking are all cut rate. Their service to private groups BLOWS. Their rental equipment sucks. (Though Pevs could improve a bit here.) Their 20 foot rule sucks. They have nothing in the way of techs at the field. They are usually late starting, they're uncoordinated and lunch is a joke. I will never play there again unless it's under new ownership/management. Ever. Your store endorses this. This makes you look bad by default. I work with some folks that used to play private groups there once a month...I gave em some free play passes that Todd Peverill hooked me up with and now they play about 8-10 times a year at Pevs. 20-40 person groups. If one trip convinced em...that's pretty sad.
2) I've found the prices in the check-it stores to be pretty good. I've found the customer service and technical knowledge in Fairfax/Chantilly to be lacking. Severely. Most of the people working in those stores have the personality skills of a doormat. I'm being generous so I don't offend doormats.
Your store may be different but the past history of the oddball antics of Jim (I think that's his name) and some of the employees will hurt you more than Pevs. The fact is, Pevs doesn't have to tell lies about Check-It...there's lots of truth to most of what they'd say. I've had nothing but GREAT service from Pevs and Pevs@AG. I think you'll find most people here on PBNation would agree.
3) While I commend your service to the country and your desire for honor...you're in a business. This type of stuff happens all the time. Hence the saying "It's business, not personal." The whole domain name thing is a business tactic, it's used in politics, business, etc. all the time. Quit whining about how you love the game, encourage fair play...yada yada yada. Pevs does as well and so do lots of the players there. If you want to talk about honor, I've seen Pevs replace parts that are out of warranty or fix problems caused by the customers for free. I've seen them give free play passes to people who quite honestly were out of line and disgruntled when I would have told them to not let the door hit their *** on the way out. They're a classy organization and as a customer, I'm highly loyal to them because they've earned it. If you play there you've probably seen me at some point playing with all the walk-ons. There's a reason they pull out 100-200+ people a weekend in all weather.
4) 2 month old paint is not a good thing. Pevs gets it fresh. I've seen the trucks come to their warehouse. That's what I want to be shooting. Not 2 month old dimpled paint. I also wouldn't be proud to be a Smart Parts tech. Smart Parts sucks. My understanding is that anyone with a pulse can go up to Latrobe and be a SP Tech. If you're selling Shockers and Impulses, from what I've seen you may need to be tech to fix em all.
All said and done, if you don't want the Pevs "Empire" to come at you....improve your business and don't give them a reason to come after you. Then open a field and make it better. Play hardball back. I don't think that will work though, Pevs has a pretty solid reputation and gets my
So...that being said...quit your whining. Incidentally, I see you're going out of business...so essentially anything you are bitching about is moot.

I've never been in your store and I hate to sound prejudiced but I don't want anything to do with any business affiliated with Hogback. And as for your attempt to "bash" Pev's let me just say this.... Pev's is not the #1 paintball retail chain in the world for nothing and people who hate Pev's kinda remind me of people who hate the Yankees, simply because they are the best. Don't be mad at us because you chose to take on the best.... and failed miserably. I'm sorry to sound harsh but Hogback has done way more despicable things to Pev's, thier employees and patrons than just a few unkind words (I can provide details).

One day at the field some refs and players (Hogback's finest, what a JOKE) from Hogback came out and shot our refs up REALLY bad (A$$HOLE$). I mean like 10 people walking out on the field walking strait up to the refs on a woodsball couse and unloading on them!!!! My one friend was shot like 30 times (5 neck shots). Then the cowards ran to their cars and sped off. Not to mention I went to Hogback one day as part of a private party and got dogged out by the owner (hippie looking guy) for no reason other than my gun and gear having PEV"S stickers on it. On another occasion a few people went to Hogback with Pev's stickers on their guns and were promptly turned away. When the players asked why, the employees told them that they were not welcome if they had Pev's stickers on their guns or gear. I go on PBnation all of the time and never mention any of this, and I feel a little childish doing it now, but I feel a bit provoked by the first thread. I'm not trying to say that all of Pev's employees and players are angels but we would NEVER do something like that. I also feel silly that I am probably the only person affilated w/ Pev's that is even paying attention to what someone so far beneath us says or thinks about us.
