Listen to this ****. The county commisioners (sp?) office is closing the closest field to where I live. Mike's paintball has been runnign for a quiet a while, and all of a sudden there is a zoning issue. For all I know, thsi could be the end of my paintball experience, considering there are no other good fields close to here. This sucks.

Well I'm moving to the Palm Beach area in the next couple of weeks....I read on Mike's site where he is haveing to shut down...Is this a county wide deal or just that his feild is in the wrong place???? Hell if I can make money on the deal and the county of Palm Beach wont be in my arse about it I'll buy some land just outside of town and put a feild in...Someone in the know holla at me and clue me in...I'll buy an airball feild, compressor and some land if I can.

Hey to all! Just moved from houston to the west palm area a few months ago. So far I've found Mike's Paintball in Royal Palm (sucks that the field's closing june 27th) and i've heard of karma & company? in ft. pierce?

anyway, here's some info about me: i've been playin about 4 years, 2 years tournament experience, mostly GTS (austin, houston, san antonio, dallas and of course mardi gras open thought I didn't go to that one). I'm looking to re-up with another team in this area or just start a new one whatever i have to do, lol.

Mikes paintball blows chuncks for yen dude... holy crap... it mike be the worst field ever... the airball is never up and even when it is they set it up all gay.... their compressor never works and they only fill to like 1800 pounds....the hyperball fields are falling apart... and the worst part of all is that NOBODY PLAYS THERE! there are like 6 or 7 guys that show up every weekend that are decent... the rest suck... and i know Mitchell...hes a douche bag...always startin s***.... i hate that kid... matt and gus are gay to ( cj says hi).... omg its just terrible... i can't wait for spent to open... i will never play at mikes ever again in my life...maybe go to RNT or somethin...maybe strikeforce **** mikes

whats gonna happen to mikes, its too soon to tell. But what might wind up happening is mike opening a new field (possibly indoor,just what he told me once apon a time) and opening a new pro-shop really colse to the new field. But the old pro-shop will still be open.

I am not totally sure how Wellington did on the FCAT. But, my guess would be that they did well, much better than Palm Beach Central. I've heard stories of guns knives and drugs confiscated at Palm Beach Centrla in the first week. I'd try my hardest to get rolling into wellington.

I am in Fort Lauderdale. Hey did you guys know Florida has one of the first state run paintball fields? It is really affordable as well. There is a legislation now which is attempting to make the liabity of injures at state parks a non fault of state or city so they can't be sued. This means hopefully more state run/funded paintball parkers will be made available at state parks making the sport more available to players.

By Bill Mills, 15 March 2004
Tallahassee, FL - Since early in 2004 members of the Florida State Legislature have been working to modify existing Florida State Law to provide liability protection to government agencies which operate paintball fields.

Florida House of Representatives bill 13770 and senate bill 1790, if passed, would change Section 316.0085 of the Florida Statutes. That portion of state law offers cities and counties that operate facilities for skateboarding, inline skating, freestyle bicycling immunity from liability. The proposed changes would add paintball to the list of activities given this protection.

The existing law does not protect park operators from gross negligence. For example, if a skate ramp collapsed because it was poorly constructed, the injured party could have a successful case against the city which operated the skate park. However, if a person was injured in that park from a typical skating injury such as falling off of a skateboard, the law puts the responsibility on the skater for undertaking the risk rather than the city for operating the park.

Representative Mitch Needelman (R – Melbourne, FL) sponsored house bill 13770 in response to requests from the City of Palm Bay, which lies within his district. Palm Bay’s Parks and Recreation department began operating Hurricane Paintball Park in the fall of 2003, and hoped a change to the law would provide the city with additional protection.

In an interview with WARPIG.com, Needelman explained why paintball liability would be a concern even when national sports injury statistics show a day of paintball to be 19 times less likely to cause an injury than a game of football, 12 times less likely than a game of soccer and 11 times less likely than a game of softball – all activities typically done in city parks without liability issues. According to Needelman it boils down to expected risk. In liability cases courts will consider that because the public is familiar long standing sports like softball and football, the risk of injury is well understood, while with newer, younger sports like paintball and skating, the participant may not recognize the risks involved.

It is hoped that with the law in place, cities and counties in Florida would be encouraged to provide public paintball fields to their residents.

In order to become passed into law, identical versions of the bill must pass through both houses of the Florida state legislature. While Needelman has been guiding the house version, Senator Bill Posey (R – Rockledge, FL) has been overseeing senate bill 1790.

Senate bill 1790 started with a prefiling in February 2004, and progressed smoothly, passing without opposing votes through the Comprehensive Planning, Governmental Oversight and Productivity, and Judiciary committees. The bill had a smooth history until April 14th, when two attempts were made to amend it with an addition of specific wording requiring municipal paintball fields to implement and enforce safety rules. One amended version was withdrawn and a second failed to pass.

Such a simple change may make sense as a good safety requirement for paintball fields, however it puts the bills at risk of passing. Before they can go to the states Governor to be signed into law they must pass in identical form through both the house and senate. A modification to one means that one or both must then be amended and voted upon. Considering the looming deadline of two and a half weeks to close of the legislative session that might not be possible. If the bills do not pass through the legislature before the close of session they die, either to be forgotten, or to start over from scratch during a future session.

Senate committee analysis notes cited little potential impact for the bill on the private sector, aside from limiting liability of injury claimants. They failed to address the potential of government owned paintball fields having a financial advantage in reduced liability and possibly reduced insurance premiums over existing commercial paintball fields with which they may compete. When asked about this aspect, Needelman commented “I don’t see that in my area because we don’t have any commercial fields in Palm Bay. I guess it would fall in the same issue with stadiums, like private stadiums that compete with public stadiums. That does pose an interesting question.” He went on to point out that providing areas for public recreation has traditionally been an undertaking of municipal governments, and that this bill should make it easier for communities to provide safe, monitored paintball facilities for their residents.

Florida residents who want to see more municipal paintball fields in their state may wish to contact their representative and senator, with a simple phone call or e-mail to ask for their support to pass the paintball liability bills without amendment. $20 buck is reasonable price... just about every park ive been to has the same entry/air fee.

paint is outragous but then again all paint is way over priced just about every park/store has a 200% mark up on paint

Orbital is BYOP, and they sell BigBall for 55 a box there.

Gladiator is field paint only but they're pretty cheap. $50 for a box of Big Ball.

Anyways I'm in Gainesville (352) for college (UF). Perm residence (and where I play) is Saint Petersburg, 9/10 times at Orbital..sometimes at Gladiator and occasionally at thunderbay.

Yup, it's pretty close to where I live. They're not BYOP though, and prices on their paint isn't that great :-\.

If they were BYOP, or had more reasonable paint prices I'd probably go there more often. I'm a poor college student, it's already a miracle that I'm able to play paintball at all :-)

i warn everyone that goes to first strike to make sure that the full time ref's or there and not the part timers. I went there on their BYOP day and all the good ref's were at M I paintball at the tourney and ref's that were left were pure arses and did nothing but get in your hair - also beware of a guy named jim, has a splashed alias and he's like 50 sumthin, he's nothin but a stuck up *** who ( and as a 50 year old nerd i might add ) has about 3000$ worth of stuff he don't even use half the time.........watched this newbie ask him politely if he could feel the trigger pull on his alias and he said "not today" the kid went on to say some pretty funny stuff about him in front of everybody - ray ray i live in south jax

Check out Murder inc in st augustine fields are a tad small but definantly not bad. Staff is extremely great!

its a drive for you west palm people but the city of palm bay has a field. thats right ,city owned... its a byop field and admission is 12.00 . 10.00 for 4500 for all day. not a bad field . plenty of newbs mixed in with some serious players. average attendance on sat and sunday is around 100-125 people , so plenty of targets to choose from. they are on the web (hurricane paintball)

It has a sort of unbalanced speedball field that goes into the woods, so it's half speedball and half woodsball. It's not a bad field, but the people suck. They always shoot hot, they wipe, and one of my friends got shot by a frozen paintball from like a 40-year-old man. The adults aren't even smart there. It'd be better if you'd just bring a group of friends and go on a weekday when there aren't many people there, or go there from 9 to 12 AM or 3 to 5 PM on Saturdays and Sundays, because all the stupid people come around noon.

And try not to fall into the canal, lol. It's so disgusting.

Jog Rd. and what?

If it's Jog Rd. and Yamato, you just go straight down Yamato towards 441 (west), and then turn right, you'll see an Eckerds there.

What you're suppose to do is either go through the madly-overidden grass into the woods (it's sort of fenced by chains and it'll be the first opening into the woods.) Or you can go into the Eckerds' entrance and then drive on the sidewalk and then turn into the opening, and you keep slowly driving into there till you come to the spaces for parking into the field. The field is kind of deep in there. You can park your car at Eckerds and then walk into there, too.

that fields not so great. theres basically nothing to hide behind and almost all the players are noob and blind shoot. Just a couple of rugs, couches,bed mattresses, and torn down cardboard. Im not a speedsball/woodsball person so i dont like this field. i prefer airball all the way!

yea their is alot more than their use to be. their is a chrono station now and they have a deadbox. their also now a snake made oput of 2-3 ft tall fence and rugs. the septic tnaks have to be the best bunkers for me to play cus their easier to use. saturday their is usually more kids their and sunday more adults. their is a few good players their but o real competition. a person named granny sells paint and all day air their. 7 for all day air and 42 for a case of tc viper venom or GAP paint whichever you want. she wont be their this weekend cause she goin to be at the IAO. pm me if you want to know more info or go when i go.

Those are not the real prices, those are just filler until the website gets finished (its under construction if you didnt notice). If you want to know real ballpark prices call the shop at the number listed on their website.

i heard your paint prices are suppose to range from 45 to 70 depending on the quality of paint. will their be an xball field. do u plan on setting up a league where teams can enter that would be tight. their is no more good fields in this area unless you travel down to miami or up to fort pierce. good thing those are filler prices but i would lower the filler prices cause that isnt really good advertisement.

Theres a field in Coral Springs, i'm not sure where its at..i'll find out. But basically its a speedball field with a couple of trees here and there. Its got a bunch of mattresses, sinks, rugs, cardboard, etc put up. It looks like a junkyard
