I don't think it can be stopped....
But then again it might be able to be stopped...
I remember hearing people recieving their novas with "dents" in there barrels, or accidently getting dents in their barrels themselves, and they said that dent work as an anti-double feed.... But I wouldnt go off and dent your barrel cause it seems like it would chop the ball....
When I was playing with my nova, I got maybe 3-4 double feeds throughout the day, so it wasnt a BIG concern.
I don't know how to help you. Maybe the other guys here can.

Thats allright, its not a big prob with my nova, i just, for some odd reason, get an eary feeling when it double fires *shudders*.

I have one of those aftermarket barrels that has a small dent on it, it works GREAT! I never have had a double feed problem.

It came with my gun, it is one of those 16" brass aftermarket ones from Airstar. It looks like a tiny little bump on it, you can hardly notice it.

The only time I get double feeds is when I use small paint. Does it fall through your barrel? it shouldn't. Pete

What I did was take a wooden dowell the same dia. of the inside of the barrel and place it inside. I used a punch and put a small dent in the edge of the breach end of the barrel. Mine were placed about a 1/8" in from the edge. Make sure after doing this that the end is still round.
mine is the same way... never doublefires, but BOY the allstars I was using were rolling out of the barrel all over the place. I think I may look into a larger bore paint.

My barrel came with 3 small dents around the breach side of the barrel--they are supposed to be there, but some of the barrels from Airstar didn't get them (likely a quality control issue)--either that, or it wasn't implemented into the design until later on-- Mr. Woods is notorious for upgrading and changing the markers constantly (just look at how many different foregrips and d/f's there are on people's Novas--that are all from Airstar). Anyhow-- I have never had a single double feed with the dents there, and I don't think they have been the cause of any ball breaks or chopping issues.
Well my barrel only has one little dent, and I've got a nova 700. However, I have used super novas with the three little dents which russ is talking about. I DO however, know a great way to ELIMINATE blowback, leading to faster loading and less chopping...

And that would be........???

you know how there is a spring which pushes the barrel back? Well, stock, it is a tad too tight. Loosen the three screws on the little black ring and slide them foward (towards the tip of the gun, where the ball exits), and then lock them down. Eventually, you have ZERO blowback. Now the tricky part is getting the same cycle rates. Go too far out and the barrel won't cycle right. Go too far in and you get blowback up the rear. Get it Juuuuuussst right (like mine) and you will get the same cycle rates (if not better due to better loading) and NO blowback. The way mine came (stock), every time I shot a burst of air would shoot up into the hopper and I would chop like mad. Now the balls stay put and load in easy as pie.
Now for my cnsistency and the damn pressure release leak... hmm. Anyone ever had a paoblem withthe pressure release on the trigger frame going off a few minutes after gassing up the gun? And my consistency has been sucking recently...

Ren. I have had that same air leak. I foud that I had a piece of chopped paint shell up in the spool valve and air was leaking past it. It was only a small piece of shell but enough to let the Co2 out and down. also somtimes I will have the same leak if I don't lube the barrel O rings well enough. ;)
but I am almost positive it isn't a shell because I took it apart completely, cleaned it, and then gassed it up and didn't break a ball since... either way, I think it may have something to do with my trigger "mod". IT involves sliding the brass "sleeve" in the trigger area (comes after the trigger rod, before the clippard valve) foward a tad. It gives you a killer pull, but I think it may also cause leaks. Well sean is going to do soemthing about it eventually, and I'll see what he does. :)
