Look here, there is never going to be a paintball gattling gun, okay. Gattling guns and vulcan cannons and such are usefull because they have multiple barrels and therefore can put out a lot more ammo before they overheat. On an m60 and m249 you must change the barrel after sustained firing. With a gattling gun you can shoot a lot faster as it has to shoot a lot more to overheat all 6 barrels. So basicaly there is no point for a paintball gattling gun. Paintballs do not create enough friction in the barrel to make them heat up. Basicaly youd have a bunch of barrels spining around the back end of a gun for NO reason. Its mechanism would have to be precision tuned so that it fired while the barrel was lined up perfectly and theyd somehow have to make it get ain airtight fit. Mark my words there will never be a true paintball gattling gun. There is no logical argument against what I have said. The hellhound vehicle does not have a gattling gun. It has 10 guns in a circle that shoot 5 shots a second each. Necessity is the mother of invention applies here perfectly. Its not a necessity, much less a usefull in any way.

Dubri...Be nice!
In fact there have been several rotating cluster type gatling guns, most of which are on the east coast used in some of the big scenario games.
As for true usefulness, no...there's no thermal requirement. However, they're dang cool just for the technical/intimitation factor.
Now, where a true bullet spewing vulcan cannon style gun only fires from a single barrel, indexed around a spool, a paintball version could fire from half the barrels.....say 3 of six barrels per shot cycle.
As for loading and valving, that's not that big a leap either. There are readily available parts for valving and the loading could be accomodated with one Warp Feed.

C'mon....this is the Custom Guns forum.......be open to new ideas!

DuBri, you've got a serious attitude problem you know that?
Seems the more and more I read your posts, on whatever forums I frequent, your tone is increasingly hostile and condecending.

Maybe you need to simmer down and stop being such an @sshole!

As for gatling gun type applications in paintball, of course there is no NEED, but so is alot of other crappola in the sport of paintball, and in our very lives! It is all relative and it's just plain fun to try, break the mold, create something interesting.

Also, I think the multiple shot pball weapon Punisher is refering to is called the "Load". 16 shot palate type weapon used in scenario games (most notably, EMR's Castle Conquest)
There is also the "half load", of 8 barrels, same configuration.

I had pictures of them somewhere on my comp. The barrels looked like 11inch CCI nickels to me.

sorry guys I am humbled. I-man, when was the last time I was mean? I did make fun of sto's the other day, and I made fun of the guy who said shockers are excaliburs, but other than that I thought I's a nice guy. I do like those cluster barrel land mine things. I wouldnt mind carrying one around and pointing it at people.

I would like to direct your attention to the Tippmann website. www.tippmann.com

Look on the front of the very cool off road type vehicle.

That IS a textbook defination of a gatling gun. so *Nuh yuh*

where you been. We've already discused that "off road type vehicle". Thats the hellhound. Its 10 guns that shoot 5 bps each. Not a gattling gun with one breech and mechanism and 10 rotating barrels.

Think before you speak? The main gun on the Tippmann Hellhound is infact a rotory barrel "Vulcan Cannon" type setup. It's driven off the hand drill built into the back.......
C'mon man, lighten up. Is Christmas getting to you that much?

Must be great knowing everything about gun systems and how they work without seeing them....

and people that get all hyper fighting about something they don't know anything about is funny to me :) so keep up the good work dude.

I have been evil and scrooglike the last week. Family reunions do that to people! I'm probrably just jealous because I cant have one. But.... if ya go the money and want something intimidating you might want to check out palmer's "grinder". Give him some extra money and he might replace that hand crank with an RC car motor.

Hey, I live 21miles South of Fort Wayne, Indiana(WHERE TIPPMANNS HEADQUATERS IS LOCATED), in the small city of Decatur, IN. Friend of mine is an employee at Tippmann(still hate Tippmann Products though). That is Gatling Gun, it IS driven by a 10 Barrel Hand Drill. The Barrels fire like ar really Gatling gun, the Barrels spin while paint is delivered to the barrels from the top. At an amazing 25bps, and chronoed atr 270fps, the Gatling Gun on the Tippmann Hellhound is pretty awesome.

The newer model has a Tippmann Squadbuster N2 Powered Launcher in between the barrels. Tippmann Now uses 2 114ci 4500psi Max Flo Tanks to power the Grenade Launcher and Gatling Gun.

OK, reality check!

Imagine, jussttt imagine, the poor SOB who'd step out on a trail and NOT see that coming?

25bps?
and THEN have a grenade SHOT at ya?

Get a wrench and take that oversized go-cart apart piece by piece and cackle like an insane man after you'd been hit by that thing. Take each component, lay it out on the ground neatly and orderly and then set them on fire. Then urinate on the fire...

I don't know much about pneumatics, gattling guns or drill driven gadgets, but i DO know about REVENGE :)
