View Full Version : Kp-2
I'm going to make my KP-2 look a bit better. I was originally going to get it brass polished, but after talking to somebody we got a good idea.
So I am going to paint it. And to prevent paint from chipping away under the pump arm, to put some felt under there.
But I was wondering, what color paintjob would you guys think look good?
I don't want to do the standard black paintjob. Everybody's seen that. I was almost thinking painting it green.

Well, I painted my PGP camo w/ Testers model paint, but it comes off if I scratch at it.
I wouldn't recommend the felt, it might make the pump stroke harder. As soft as it is, it is still going to cause more friction I would think.
A nice flat green primer (like modern day military rifles) might be nice.

be warry of paint. i would use a powder coat but its up to you.. ever consider silver? ive seen colored PGP's and they just dont look very good. silver might keep the looks but change it enough so its unmistakeable. mine is mint cond stock matte black. need to find a matte black stock to replace the wood to finish the look

You could also strip the original stoch and treat it w/ crude oil. That would darken it and stripping off the laquer would dull it down a bit.

Use car auto paint
pep boys sells it like $5.00 a can great stuff
Yeah, not sure yet still. I was thinking maybe white, actually. Never seen one.
Probably 2 coats paint, 1 clear coat. So it's thin, yet durable.
And if felt's too thick, I'll find a thinner faberic.

You miss my point. Fabric may cause more friction than the pump all by itself! This could cause pump stroke to be more stiff! I would just use liberal ammounts of grease.
But I'm no expert.
I just think the fabric is going to have a higher surface area AND it's softer. th me this would mean more drag or friction.
No matter, nothing for a good faberic that's thin enough.
But besides that, I'll have to sand the stock down nicely so it's all evenly colored and restain it. I've got a little bit of restoring to do.

dude, dont screw with ur kp-2. Theres few enough of those things that are still all original and work in the world. If ur gonna get it done any color, powder coat it flat black. Powder coating doesn't wear and doesnt peel off like paint does. If its good enough for a plane then its good enough for paintball. as for the stock, if ur gonna do anything with it have it refinished. Trust me, if ur gonna ever sell this thing (which i know you will) People will pay much more for an all original or original looking kp-2. Also, white is the ugliest color on a paitball gun i have ever seen.

you can't powdercoat an old sheridan. UNLESS you have powder coat that cures at less than 275 or so deg. The solder is NOT high heat silver and you will sweat the tubes apart.
Palmer's uses silver solder on the scratch built guns that they powdercoat.
Perhaps there are super low temp powders, but be careful ifyou chuck those tubes to a coater without fair warning.
