I am trying to understand some very basic (and fundamental) concepts of LPR setups. In order to propel a ball to 300 FPS by the time it reaches the end of the barrel, obviously there is some common 'at-ball' pressure that all guns propel the ball at to make it accelerate to 300 FPS. Now, this pressure can be made higher or lower by using more/less air (dwell) to propel the ball. What are the practical limits of the 'at-ball' PSI (high and low marks) in order to propel the ball to 300 FPS? Obviously the high-mark will be just before the ball is crushed by the oncoming air, the low mark is of more interest.
So, it seems the LPR issue is more to do with recock pressure, with a lower recock pressure being associated with smoother-cycling/less kick/faster cycling gun ? So when a Timmy claims to be 75 PSI, is this only for recock pressure, and the actual 'at-ball' PSI is a lot higher ?
I would appreciate it if someone could adequately explain these things.
