the old thread was getting cluttered so I reposted the basic information.

On august 2
at 4:30 a paintball action meeting will be held at the rod and gun club. The point of the meeting will be to establish dates
to improve the field.

One of the actions that will be coming up is that we have 30 of the giant cable spools available to us. So we need to get a group of people together to go pick them up. When they give me a solid date I will post it. These spools will be used on the new speedball field up by the shack.

One of the other actions is filling the holes on the speed ball fields
and building up the new one by the shack.

Also daniel said he will be talking to kps to see if they can work out a deal on paint prices.
Volunteer referees will get discount paint and field fees waived
Im not sure about how much of a discount though.

I went to a meeting this saturday, as an incentive field fees will be waived for volunteers.

Here is some news you may all love to hear. On 25/25 August Darmsatdt Outdoor rec will be holding a class for all Outdoor Rec/rod and guns, on building and maintaing a paintball field. This is some thing the big wigs want us to do to help our fellows in the srevices areas get started or tune up their exsisting programs. If your area dose not have a paintball program or need help get theirs up, please ask them to look into this class. The particulars are still being ironed out but I for one am very excited to teach this corse. If they have not heard about it yet, have them contact us. Any one who sees Max, ask him to contact me, I maybe able to help is paint problem. I will be in the office all day on Wed.

Alls I know is that I talked to the big boss last Thursday at the Rod and Gun. I told him every thing that would help the field and what the paintballerz wanted to have. He gave me an excuse for every thing and told me it wouldn't and couldn't happen. I'm all for helping make this place better. But if I can just go to Darmstadt and get cheaper paint, better fields. and not have to worry about blowing out my knee again on some tree trunk or tree branch. I'd rather go to Darmstadt. Put I'm going to the meeting so I can hear what really is going to happen. And in all the meetings is the big boss (Bob) ever there? NO! Thats all I have to say so I will see everyone there for the meeting.

About that class on how to maintain a paintball field! How much does it cost, when will the classes be held, and what time? God knows the Rod and Gun Club needs it.

Man it sounds likea lot of bad feelings in there man. I know it is fusterating to love the sport and see it doing well in one place and not in yours but ya gotta relax. Screaming at the problem never helps. Yeah you may feel better but it just won't fix it. So if your gonna go tot he meeting, go with an open mind and leave the hostility at home. Try and make a few solid SIMPLE points. You have to get them to start some where. Start small with the most important thing, decide what you think that is and try to poke holes in the agument, or get some one else to do it then find ways to defned it. If you provide a good enough argument you may get some where.

But yeah I guess if all else fails come shoot paint at my place. I will be there.

I have no idea on the cost if any of this class. As far as I know there is not one but do not quote me on that. This is a class that the Outdoor Recs do for anything they program. Like a class on how to Maintain and repair Mountain bike, skis, snowboards etc. It is only for employees of the Outdoor recs/Rod and Guns etc. Now being that Darmsatdt is an Army community, I ask my Boss if the Air Force guys that were interested could attend he seemed to think they could. Its supposed to be 24/25 September. 2 days and we will do a comprehensive corse on every thing from theroy to exectution as well as some marker maintince, filed design and marshal training. This is just slated and we are currently working on the corse structure. Let me know if ya need anything else.

This is jsut like any thing else that services does. It has to sustain it self. There is no way they are gonna spend a load of cash on some thing that has little return. Its kind of a catch 22 here but it the way it is. We started out with an exsisting 200bar electric compressor and humped 7 scuba bottels back and forth to the field ALL DAY LONG. We did this for quite the bulk of the fist season we had it. It was a nightmare, but we were providing HP air. Once we understood the effeciancey of HP over Co2 there was no going back. We were and still are a small crew. usually 2 guys and I have had as many as 97 players on a single day. Thats not a tournament day either. We saw how the Hp saved us time and made us money. Am I making any sense? Its baby steps and SLOW progression. Have realistic expectations and know that nothing happens over night with the military. Once they have the know how or the idea to provide a better service for their soldiers give em a chance to do it before ya blast em.:)

Make it happen, Josh. I hope that it will be an official/mandatory training requirement (:P TDY). You see Josh, some of these so called managers don't believe in improvement, they still believed the old system way. We should clone Craig, then every ODR/R&GC would have a manager that knows 'BUSINESS' common sense. And of course, YOU make it happen for The Red Baron field.

Thanks for the ataboys. Its good to know there is some folks out there that understand what a good thing we put out for our service members. Its also good that folks know its a team effort and that nothing is done on the sholders of one person. We had plenty of help from our players in the off season both times to get our fields up. Thanks again. I will do my best to put on a good class.

I am relaxed! I just can't understand the dumb excuses the big boss gave me. I told him that the paint is to expensive and he told me to get with a bunch of other paintballerz get money together and buy paintballs on the internet in bulk. What would you think if the guy that controls everything for your paintball field said that? I even talked to tons of people on the internet for help on the paintball price. I found 3dsextreme.com. They said they would beat every price and we get military discount. I told the boss and he said that they can't change the dealer they already have. Theres alot more that was said but I'm not going there. But I really want to help make this place better and they have to realize the potential this place has to make alot of money!

OK guys It looks like some one posted some of the tourney info. I spoke with the PAO and Craig today and the best I got out of them was because this is not a Military web forum I would be best served not posting any prices or advertising'ish info. I will however, be attempting to get all that info posted to the MWR site some one mentioned before. So until them you'll have to call us or drop by the field and pick up the flyer. Sorry.

Eyecare
08-07-2003, 05:43 AM
There are some tournaments coming up In Darmstadt - one is a novice only tourney which should be interesting. MWR policies notwithstanding, just call the various fields if you want more information. Many numbers are posted on a separate thread on German fields.
The idea of buying paintballs in bulk is good but has associated hazzards. The biggest is the reliability of the APO postal system. There are companies like Firstcallpaintball that will ship for free if you buy bulk (four or more cases) but with the delays in the APO system and the temperatures the way it's been who knows what condition your balls will arrive in? The good news is that they'll replace broken bags for free.
Without a paintball advocate like Pitvyper69, who has some business management experience running your field, it seems highly unlikely that any field will get the support it needs from the management level to turn into a well run machine. I can tell you from first hand experience that the field here in Heidelberg is underutilized, minimally supported and poorly managed. There are those willing to do the work but either lack direction or support from above. The best you guys can do is to form your own special interest committee like Carl has proposed and support it to the fullest. He can't do it by himself. (In other words, put your money where your mouth is.) You can also fill out customer comment cards that go to Outdoor Rec or MWR or the local base commander so your voic(es) will get on their radar screen. With time and enough effort you can get your field up to your standards. Just my 2€.

Eyecare is on the right track here. My own ideas on paint not with satanding, I do have to say ordering paint form the states is not always the best idea. Paint is alot like beer it's best when its fresh. Paint distribution is a very long process most of the time and very often its not climate controled like it is suppose to be. Now with the temp the way it has been its gonna get nasty. Thake a 1/2 cup of paintballs and set em on your window in the sun light this weekend. See what happens on Monday. That might let you in on the whole climate controled deal. Paint price has alot to do with where and why guys are buying paint. I got a call from a AF guy in the Bitburg area, and he is paying $80 for a case of Tomahawk up there! My jaw dropped, man thats alot of cash for Tomahawk. I guess I will be seeing his group everyonce in a while. I am always an advocate for supporting your local fields but ya also have to go where the service and product is best for you.

J_Kershaw1979
08-10-2003, 11:05 PM
that is alot of money for tomahawk, but so is 75 per case of midnight at vogelweh is alot too, especially seeing I can get a case of marbs for 62 Euro at KPS. I will continue to buy my paint there until vogelweh drops. Sure, I have to drive 20 minutes to get it, but its worth the time knowing I am getting high quality paint thats been taken care of.

UPDATE!!
field fee is now $12.00
rental package $25.00 and no longer includes 100 balls
bag of paint is down to 20.00 case is up to 80.00
this info is what the renters told me saturday. Also there is offically no chrony again. Thier paint was VERY dimpled last weekend.
I have four cases of allstars coming after I use those I will no longer be playing at vogelweigh.

Pitvyper69

How can they let guys on the field with no chroney?

carlalexbarrett
09-08-2003, 02:34 AM
well for one thier still making money so they dont care.
And 2 thier services so they don't really have to worrie about getting sued ect...
As joe winters said when he visited the field " It's like playing paintball in the early 80's". I wish I didn't order those 4 cases of paint.

Pitvyper69
09-08-2003, 02:45 AM
Any Idea what happened to the chrony? Did some one break it or knock it off the table? I am sure no one is interested in see some one hurt. The big problem, as you well know, comes when some guy with no honor decides that no chrony is free reign to open his marker all the way up. Some one could really get hurt like that.

carlalexbarrett
09-08-2003, 02:54 AM
it dissapeared just like the big red one did last year. it was just one of those handhelds, they didn't enforce it any ways.
speaking of things dissapearing a kid left his red dye gloves at the field and they were tuned in to the shack, then they "dissapeared" from the shack.

Pitvyper69
09-08-2003, 03:25 AM
Those big red ones are VERY expensive so that sucks! The hand held ones are nice but not suitable to chrony a field of players. The best thing I can say is I hope some one from their shop shows up at the class. Maybe a few tips from peers may help get things rolling in the right directions.

Yeah well the thing that made me angry about the missing items was that I was accused of taking them. I was on leave for all of August. When I got back they asked me if I had "ACCIDENTLY" taken them. LOL...Then for some odd reason there was also money missing. HMMM, sounds like someone who works in the shack needs to be looked at. Not some volunteer.

I was a little upset about that accusation.

Anyways, sorry I was up at Darmstadt like I thought I would be on Sunday. I was up all night trying to work a deal with this kid for his cocker. Here is what I got him down too. Is this a good deal...

2K2 Cocker with RACE Frame and EYE
Full Freak Set, 12v Revy, 45/4500 Crossfire Tank, a Micromag, with Warp Feed and another Revy and a 45/3000 Tank. A couple other litte things like tank covers and such..... But he wants $1000.00 for it all. I think it is a bit steep!!! What are your thoughts guys?

pbtosa
09-08-2003, 03:50 PM
Way too steep, if you ask me, look around and have plenty of patience. For that money, you can get a new angel speed and some leftover for a decent nitro(ca, n2) tank.

bunkermaster10

Where did you order your four cases from, carlalexbarrett? I ordered four through Firstcallpaintball in order to save on shipping costs and it took the APO system over a month to get it to me. Shipping is usually faster with only one box - I guess the postal guys don't mind picking up a single case but balk at four. The good news was that there were no breaks in any of the boxes. The bad news was the heat wave caused the balls to swell so they were easily playing .693-.695. It was worth a try since Red Baron was out of commission for a time and I hate using Vogelweg's balls but by the time I got them Red Baron was open again. Just one of those things..

OUTDOOR REC?!?!? It is ran by the Rod-n-Gun... I'm confused... the only place flat enough and big enough for a 5 man let alone 2 would be next to skeet ranges... I don't think that I want someone shooting a Shotgun directly parellel with me. It's bad enough the shot comes over the hill and hits you in the head while you are on the present field... =)

I am sure that one guy from K-town was Wayne, I think he is the director there, Chris was the other I think. Like I said I am really bad with names. They guys from K-town are really pumped so I expect they will be doing things soon. The current field is R&G but its the Vogelway field and I am pretty sure the R&G is not K-towns. SO this would be another bases field in the same area. So a little competiton across the way should help provide a better place for you guys to play in that area. They are looking for some help. Give em a call. This is exactly what you guys were asking for.

Players at Vogelweg,
I realize this isn't a sell thread but I found a good deal on a used standard Radar Chrony so I'm selling my Prochrono Paintball (http://www.competitionelectronics.com/pc%20paintball.htm) since I won't need it anymore. It's not as good as the Radar Chrony but still functional and might be of use at a place like Vogelweg if they missed the part of Josh's presentation about field safety and don't get one for themselves. I gave my hand-held Radar Chrony to Josh a year or two ago when I first got the Prochono Paintball because it was easier to use and better for what I wanted it for. If anyone wants the Prochrono Paintball you can have it for $25-30. You're welcome to try it first, of course.

SO... We havn't talked about this field often. Stopped by there today, since I am still waiting for my cocker to get back. There was only like 10 people there. Half with rentals. The others I knew. Since no one was there, we took a couple of hours and made some nice improvements to the speedball field. Took out and added some new, deffinetly needed bunkers. Though we didn't turn it side ways like everyone had wanted to do. With the new changes the only complaint someone might have is running up the hill. But that still isn't that bad, since you only have to run a couple feet to the next bunker anyways.

darn... if i would have know that i wouldn't ahve played today... =(

o'well maybe next time...

Oh yeah, I would like to mention the safety at Vogelweh once more... THERE IS NONE!!!

I got caught under the mask today. Big deal.. It happens... But when my face is no sweeled up and a nice huge chunck of skin missing. You wonder what the heck.... So after we called the game for safety reasons of our own. We had the guy chrono his gun... 313fps. That's right, I got hit from about 10 feet away in the lower jaw at 313FPS!!! Hows that for safety...

What's everyone else's thoughts. Should I report this incident?

Last weekend a kid got shot in his mouth. "He said his masked fell off." It looked to me like he didn't even have one on. Anyways, his lip was the size of a gum ball and was bleeding everywhere. Two safety issues back to back. WHAT CAN WE DO ABOUT THIS?!?! Who will listen to our cries. Litteral CRIES at that...

You could get your program shut down if the right person hears about this. SO then you have no place to play. Be aware of this. You know how I am about safty and I personally would report it. Talk to the Director of the activity and demand a Chrone and at least one marshall be present at all times also demand that a list of safty rules be posted and briefed at the start of evry day and as need through out the day. This should be common sense and those type things should not happen. What is their max field speed? See if you can find out who the other kid was or at least get some other costomers to back you up. If you get no satisfaction the next step would be the DCA, Director of Community activities. They are responsible to the people. The over all safty of the field sounds as if its sorely lacking. Injurys that should be prevented easy always seem to happen there. Its not right.

Im out

Well I got my Ebladed oukast and HALO in yesterday. So I need to go and shoot someone with it.

I will be out there tomorrow. Anyone else coming?

Then I will pack up for the winter. Well maybe goto Darmstadt in DEC. But that's about it for me. Don't want anymore SCARS on my face. Yeah, it left a scar.

I couldn't get ahold of the director today. Get this, she was down at the field when I called... LOL

Hope to see some familiar faces out there...

OKAY GREAT NEWS!!! Well possilby anyways. The new director is AWESOME! She wants that place to rock when it comes to paintball. She is going to actual fight to get a compressor and put it in her budget plan. So at least she is trying.

So... more to come on that later.
Anways, there were only about 10 of us there today, some familiar faces and got to meet a couple other guys.

The OUKAST OWNS!!! That's all I have to say about that...

Hi there guys,
I am a Vogelweh player as well, even that I am German but thanx to the USAF who gives me a job as a 5-0 =)
BRUCE .... you know who I am right :)=. Just wanna get rid of couple of things. Vogelweh is a nice spot to play actually if they would take care much more of the field.
If they would advertise it a little better, I bet a lotta more people would come. I played there on the 22nd with Bruce, Chris ( I assume ) and couple of my friends and some german cats. It was hell of a fun. What I am about to figure out is a PB Field in France. VERY NICE SPOT FELLAS BELIEVE ME. Tomorrow will be the last weekend, I am ( and others ) will be able to play in Vogelweh, cause they´re closing for the winter time I guess. To come back to this French Field. It´s an old French ARMY post, abandoned with Buildings ( 1 floor up to even 4 Floor Buildings ) Old Hospital is in there, Bunkers and a lotta nice basements to ambush =) =) dark as F**k down there. If I get any new Infos I will post it in this Forum. Until then............. KEEP PAINTING !!

Here is a bit o news for you Big Game Urban/woodland players. It looks as if The Red Baron will attempt to host some of its our next year! All I can say right now is we could play upwards of 100 players per side. Buildings to play in and around as well as boatload of woods! Still ironing out all the particulars and as I will more than likely not be here to see it through, all I can say is my Boss is 100% behind it so it should come off. More to follow.

Thanx for the website, yes this is the field I was talking about. I just called them and asked abou the prices etc. and it doesn´t really sound that bad. The only thing he told me as far as I understood was that you have to make reservations for the fields and stuff. Prices are 9,50 Euro to get in plus you have to buy a max of 300 Balls otherwise the entry fee is 15 Euro. But he offered me to buy the 300+ Balls, and after you have used them up you are able to use your own paint. It really doesn´t sound that bad at all. The only problem I got is that my ARMOTECH WG-65 / 177 is not allowed during big games, only when you play just like that. I thought that might be importened to other people with ARMOTECH Products. If anyone like to do something and go there with several people please let me know via EMAIL: THERZA79@AOL.COM. So far I got 3 Peoples who would like to come with me, they´re all around my area. I would be happy if some Vogelweh Players would respond as well.

THX

Hi Paintballing brothers
I just returned from Vogelweh and ít was awesome. We were around 12 People ( Bruce you missed something )
including couple of German guys. But they had sand in their p*s*y =) LOL. We played one game against them, and that was it. They told me "we wanna play only by ourselfs" =) =) what a bunch of weenie´s =)) that´s why Germany lost the WW II =).
By the way I talked to 3 other guys 2day and they were interested in going to France ( VECKRING ). So that would be six people by now, with Bruce and Tim eight. I know they would go in a second. All we need to figure out is when, and with how many players.
That would be it 4 2day. I go and clean my gun now =)))
Got lit up pretty good 2day.

Happy New Year

Any info on when we are going to head out and start working on the fields or have I missed the party? There are allot of great ideas, and even more work to be done. The New manager is very enthusiastic about the program and we have her support. My gut feeling is this is not like "all the other times" and she is truly willing to turn the place around.

Well that is enough of that. Hope to get some info so we can have a great opening and good season this year.

Cheers

Hi Folks, I got very bad news. WE NEED YOUR HELP VOGELWEH PLAYERS AND ROD AND GUN CLUB MEMBERS. I heard from the Lady who works the shack sometimes that the 86 SVS CC wants to "close" the Rod 'N Gun Club including Paintball and Skeet Range. Why ? Because she is "ANTI-GUN". She don´t want any Weapons ?????? on Base - PERIOD.

So I had an hour talk with the lady ( Not the CC ) about, how can we improve OUR PAINTBALL RANGE !! She got a lot of very good Ideas and if more people would volunteer to improve and support the Field, more people would come and enjoy the game. She even told me Mr. Spinks would hire people Part time to work the Range. The Money from 86 SVS is present, but it can´t be used because of the 86 SVS CC. It is way enough for new guns, HP and a better CO² System, equipment and even enough to build a shack for the storage. Cause right now the Guns freeze up, the balls are way to frozen to play cause they are stored OUTSIDE.
So the result is that the Rod 'N Gun Club will be closed for Paintballing until MARCH !!! What really sucks *** !! I even said that the little time I got, I would put into free work to clean up and improve the field. So everybody - E-V-E-R-Y-B-O-D-Y sent mails to the 86 SVS CC or call them. There is a Phone number inside the 86 SVS Magazine. We can´t let this happen folks.

Well we all knew they would be closing down until March. The paintball they have of course are frozen and will never be used again. That's there loss. The last I talk to the lady who runs the R&G she made no gestures to it closing forever. She did mention that volunteer help would be noticed... i.e. free field fees and such. But to be paid, she said they couldn't swing it. I really couldn't imagine them closing the Paintball Field forever for another reason... "Project Cheer" That would defeat the hole purpose of that program, especially when the weather get better. So we will just have to wait and see... :D
