I'm relatively new in town and looking to join a rec "team" for weekly skirmishes. I've played many times over the years, but never seriously enough to purchase my own equipment. Now I'm thinking it'd be nice to join something a bit more organized.

Anyone want a 26 y/o player for practices or rec play? The first thing I'll probably do is pester you for advice on buying the right equipment. :)

Yeah. I'm already headed in that direction. I've been doing a fair amount of reading today.

I think I may stop by SC Village this weekend to see if I can get some field time, but I dunno how likely that is for a single walk-on. Anyone know how much equipment they have to try out from pro-shop/rental?

That's what I figured on the rentals. I was just hoping the pro shop was really nice and had demos or something. :)

I'm in Glendale right now, but I'll be moving in about a month to who-knows-where (possibly Studio City).

I tried out HSP and noticed that the walk-on system here is a lot better that it was back home. From what I understand it doesn't get me onto the speedball fields at most places, but I should probably practice a bit before that.

Some friends said I had to check out SC Villiage, but maybe I'll hit Conquest tomorrow instead.

For better or for worse I just bought a basic electronic Spyder. That should carry me for a while. If you want to hook up, I'll be the guy chopping balls (I still need an electronic hopper) and wearing the white Minnesota baseball hat.

I'm off to HSP tonight.
