hey guys, i will hopefully be getting a Gen 3 quest as a graduation present for myself.

but i had a few questions first-

1. how do you "set-up" the quest? lets say i were to strip the reg and gun for a good cleaning and had to reset the regs, whats the process in doing so?
for example, when doing this with a borg- you put the HPR at 200psi, and the lpr 1/4 turn past fully cycling. so how does one properly set the regs with a quest?

2. are there any necessary or even highly recommended upgrades i should get right out of the box?

3. does anyone make boards for the quest yet?

4. in terms of weight and efficiency, which is better- NXT shocker or Quest?
im looking for factual info on this one, not just opinions.

thanks guys, hopefully i can join the family within a few weeks.

- Make the LPR and HPR screw flush. Turn the HPR screw in 3 round. Than, put the LPR 1/4 turn past fully cycling. Adjust the velocity with the HPR screw

2. are there any necessary or even highly recommended upgrades i should get right out of the box?
- No highly recommended upgrades needed. This gun works perfectly out of the box if you lube it well.

3. does anyone make boards for the quest yet?
- Virtue, Lucky, WAS, APE

- Same weight for the shocker and Quest and for the efficiency, around 1500 shots of a 1,1L bottle with 4500psi

If you're looking for exact weights, info, etc:

Length - Height - Width: 9.8 - 7.5 - 1.2 inches
Weight with barrel: 2lbs 3oz
Rate of Fire: 23bps - as fast as mechanics can cycle
Stock modes of fire: Semi, PSP, NXT
Cycling pressure: 85psi
Operating pressure: 200psi
Efficiency: Advertised 1500 shots per 68/4500 fill

In my opinion, the Quest beats any and all Shockers in all respects other than looks, which don't appeal to everyone. I personally like the smooth, understated body of the Quest.

2. no recommended or even needed upgrades out of the box, you could throw a goldmember in there to get better efficiency on top of 1500 rounds stock, otherwise nothing is needed

3. Virtue does, and i love my virtue board

4. ive shot both an nxt and a quest, and i can say quest will be definitaly more efficient, lighter and smaller

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA.....HAHA

sorry, FEP's customer service is excellent, you can always call and get help with your marker, you can send it in and have it back within the week, depending on distance and problem, but everyone has had a good experience with FEP

Pakistani--I've seen you in the MacDev forums and I'm also a huge Cyborg fanatic. I now own a Quest and love it to death. Everything about it, from the company to how the gun feels and performs, is top notch. You won't regret buying one.

1: the hpr is for the fps so that is adjusted at the chrono. to set the lpr turn the screw in untill the gun fully cycles and add another 1/4 turn.

2: nothing is needed out of box just tank, hopper, paint, mow faces.
upgrades like goldmember bolt, snatch pin, headlock are all nice but you dont need them.

3: yes. virtue, ape(raiders board), lucky spitfire, was (not much of an upgrade) and older generations chip boards.

4: because i haven't shot a shocker i cant give a good side by side comparisson but... a guy on my team has a shocker and same size tank as me and he goes up for air a lot more than me and i play back and hes our front man so let that be the judge of effiecency

you will fall in love with your quest

Rare indeed. Only 3 guns get that kind of praise from me. Fusions, Borgs, and Quests.

Take a look at my collection in my sig. My Quest gets the most play out of them all. It is in my Top 3 for sure ( Nexus and Excal being the other two).

fusion but no legend?! :( ok whatever floats your boat... not making this a versus just throwing that name out there. if i had 3 guns i could own it would be a legend borg and quest) they all ftw!! if that helps you decide wheter to get one or not.)

Fusion > Legend, especially for the price. Yes, I shot them both before I even bought my first fusion. Since then, I've owned 3 fusions and 0 legends. I prefer how the fusion feels and performs.

I own both an 06 Borg and a Quest. The Quest is supposed to be my "backup" marker but since the Borg has never gone down I've never needed to use the Quest. But I still pull her out of my gear bag and use it all the time. In fact, I love both markers so much that it's tough for me to just use one all the time. So I have taken to switching them out every other day I play.

Pakistani - Congratulations on graduation. EvilHurtsMyWorld did as well. (You two seem to ignore the old hideout for some odd reason!!!!)

Basically, the Quest will become what the Promaster has in the past. You'll fall in love.

Just know to buy one used; NIB will be a lot higher, the 07 Quest (New Body) and the Q-Seven will be out soon.

Hmm.. it was the exact opposite for me. I shot a fusion, and promaster, and i didnt like the feel. then the legend rolled out, and i was impressed

I still hate the damn WAS board. so whenever someone makes a aftermarket board, i will buy it

What is it with egos? Other than the fact that eclipse sponsors some hot teams, it seems like just another stacked tube marker, but more expensive. Way overpriced IMO. Good markers for sure, just not for that price!

Interesting to hear so much praise for promasters and fusions. Their compact size and low price always intrigued me as a back up (light is good if you are going to be carrying it more than shooting it as a back up). Of course I'm interested in the quest too... like a shocker but better and it's not made by the company that sued paintball.

well, im not gonna lie, i still want a quest.
but in my defense, a huge reason why i bought the dark ego was because i got it for $700.
i could easily go into the b/s/t and sell it for more.

the ego is light, fast, has all the modes stock, comes with great stock parts, and has excellent resale. so i couldnt really ask for more.

I guess if you are buying new, the high resale it a good thing. I generally buy my marker LNIB with the intention of holding onto them for a long time so lower resale is a good thing. Couldn't be happier with the A1 that I paid hardly anything for. I guess it's mostly the SL's that blow my mind in terms of cost. I'm sure there are people out there who don't mind sliding through some sand with a $2000 marker in their hands. I'm sure not one of them!

How is the trigger on a quest? I still haven't found a shocker with a trigger I like and this place is saturated with them. What is the feel like?

On an unrelated side note, lots of fat folks around here have started using minis. Now that is a funny sight. Fat kid with a little gun. It looks like a fat finger octopus attacking the gun when they hold it!

the "feel" of the trigger?
well its not like any shocker ive ever felt. even on a naughty dogs nxt my buddy has(nxt's come with a roller trigger) there is somehow a fair amount of sideplay. even when the trigger is at rest you can feel it just sort of "hanging" with lots of room to move around.
on the quest its very tight and smooth with noooooo slop or sideplay. a very crisp, smooth and solid feel. it is by far the best "feeling" trigger ive ever shot. its just cake to walk it and you dont have to gank up your hand to do it. just dont set the pull super short or youll more than likely have some bounce issues with the was board.
if the stoopid easy maintenance or excellent efficiency for a spool valve doesnt make you want one, the trigger will. by themselves they are good reasons to buy it, together they make one bad ass gun.
