Had to do with needing a metro city and contracts with other leagues.

Yes it was because they could not use the names from other leagues such as the NXL. This is also why New York Xtreme played as the New York Aces, and Sacramento XSV played as LA XSV.Philly Americans played as Pennsylvania All Americans. Detroit Strange as Atlanta Predators. Etc.
