Some require lubricant, some are more durable, and some have better shape, and hold their shape better.

Reballs are more durable, have a better finish...supposedly they also have a much better flight pattern and may be easier on welts....when shot at 240/250....I shot them at 300...wow that hurt.

At my reball field we chrono at 210, however the field is uber short, so it doesn't matter.

i must be wierd....i like to practice with what i play with. i want to practice with everything that im going to be playing with so theres no "surprises" about how some things work(or dont). meaning everything from my harness to my gun to my paint to the clothes im wearing.

if you practice with a half full harness, when you fill it up for a tourney its going to be different. it weighs more and sticks out in more places. have your gun set up one way and then change it for the tourney, its going to be different. id rather practice with paint so i know what happens with actual paint. no questions about difference in weights, roundness, or anything else like that. yes different paint has different weights and roundness in a batch, but that lets you practice in "real world" scenarios. because your tourney paint is going to do the same thing. reballs have the ability to be all the same roundness and weight and hence not give you "real paint" performance.

granted, i understand the idea behind reballs for saving mess and money, but practicing with what your actually going to be using is more important to me. you get to expect the fliers and differences as you play instead of having something thats the same all the time. not to mention practicing clearing breaks and the like should they happen. the more you get to practice "in game" scenarios the better you will be when they happen when it counts.

I use reballs to test out markers in house. saves paint, and doesnt make a mess. They are also fun to practice with for drills. But I agree without paint practice u wont get the full effect, even the spray and splatter on the bunkers is nearly essential....that why reballs were designed for drills...and troubled markers.

yah i bought a pod of reballs just to test out my guns in the house, so i dont waste paint. just built a little target that catches them and lets them fall down into a few laundry backets.
