View Full Version : weird problem: gun won't shoot.

Just this past weekend I chronoed the quest before a tournament and it shot perfect. put about a hopper through it before i went back to stage. Then i changed the battery. The first game came around and it turned on, but it wouldn't shoot. the LEDs came on like normal and it flashed green like there was a ball(because there was) and i pulled the trigger and the noid wasn't clicking.

As far as i can tell the battery harness is messed up the LED will only turn on if you hold the wires in just the right position, and no matter what I do the noid won't even click.
i'm a little worried the noid is burnt out. could it be the board? or is the battery harness to blame? right now the two leads from the battery into the QD harness into the board look like they're stripping and probably broken, thus why the LED will turn on sometimes, but could that be the problem with the noid?

this is a fairly new (to me) gun, and it worked perfectly fine all week until i changed the battery. so far i've tried another new battery, and it doesn't seem to be helping.

any help is appreciated :( i want this thing to work.

it is probly just the wire harness.... the noid and battery are on the same connector... call FEP for a new one or there is a guy here on the nation that sells aftermarket ones too for $15.... here is his thread

alright, i guess i'll go ahead and get one of those since i definately need the new wire harness. the battery wires are definately pinched/broken whatever. hopefully that fixes everything :/

Just for the record.......most battery harnesses and wires are pretty crappy. This goes for all GUN types. They just can't handle a lot of pulling and twisting and tugging. In the future....pop the battery off of it's harness like you're flicking a bottle cap with your thumb.....to avoid jerking the wires when you pull it off with two hands. Try not to spin and twist them a lot. Put the battery and wires in exactly as they came out. That will help to reduce wear and tear, and prolong the life of the wires.

i had the same problem, when you changed the battery you probably jingled the batteries a bit, i know you said you tried everything, but give it a few shots, make sure the wires arent crimped too much, the straighter the better the signal. also try pushing to wiring into the battery harness and solenoid, it might have be disconnected slightly, causing it to turn on but not shoot.

Ya the wires are very fragile.... that is what u get when u use crimp pins on stranded small guage wire...

I have seen people in the past put epoxy or jb weld on the wires where they go into the connector... it make them last longer...

but u just have to be careful with them...

Everything WAS made for FEP I swear was made by 2 year old kids in China. The quality was just horrible! It's why FEP dumped them and have a new company making their electronics now.

well new wires didn't help. people at the local store seem to agree its probably the board thats messed up since as far as we can all the wires are perfectly fine, and the solenoid will cycle manually. guess i'm gunna call fep tomorrow. :/
