LA Pelican Cup Beginner 3-Man Series

This series has just had it's first round on March 2nd at LA Xtreme with well over 20 teams.

The second round will be at Paintball Command in Mandeville, LA on April 6, 2003.

Yo' I was out helpin' at the first round at LA Xtreme and I must say that the competition was awesome! There were 22 teams! If I am correct, that is the largest attenedance to ANY Tournament in Louisiana, beside the MGO of course! And of course my boyz LMV won!

Yes Paul it was a very fun tournament, but the biggest non Mgo Louisiana event that I know of was the WTS 2001 in Zachary we had 24 teams, the Pelican Cup Round 1 had 23 competing 1 team didn't show up, so they could have had 24 teams. All this won't matter because come May 25th at Round 2 at LA XTreme the WTS will have close to 40 teams, every stop will be off the hook. This may not be the largest start but we hope it is the strongest for growth of the sport in Louisiana. National Paintball Supply, PMI, and others are all interested and helping with prize packages. The success of this series will gather added participation from these entities and others.

Seven (7) teams have officially entered the tournament to be held at Paintball Command on April 6. Five more have promised to enter last week. Remember that you are not officially entered unless you have the registration form and the $90 fee sent (includes fills). The form can be obtained at the field or can be downloaded from the site (to be put on the site tomorrow). Following are important dates and times:

Last day to receive registration form and fee: March 31
(Please call us if you will have problems with this requirement)

Fields will open at 7AM
Captain's meeting will be at 8AM
Games will start at 8:30 AM

We officially have Twelve teams signed. Many more are registering this week. We expect 20+ teams.

We will call every team Wednesday to make sure everyone knows about the times, parents signing waiver for players under 18, etc.

We have set up the Ultimate Air field for the tournament. The Matrix field may be used if more than twenty teams sign up. Players may come and look at the fields but no markers will be allowed on the field. Sunday, Paintball Command will open at 7AM. Captain's meeting will be at 8AM and games will start at 8:30. Paintball Command will be closed for recreational (scenario) play.

The Regulatorz, Paintball Command's Staff, and some LSU team players will referee the game.

I don't know if anyone else realized this, but the third and final stop of the Pelican Cup is on Mother's Day. I don't know about everyone else, but I know I can't talk my Mom into letting me play paintball on her day. Just in case you do have a nice Mom to let you go play paintball as long as you get back by dinner, that isn't going to happen either. Dixie Storm is an hour away from the New Orleans area. There are also a couple of high school graduations on that day as well. In other words, I just think that May 11th is a really bad day. I just sent an email to Woody at Dixie Storm, highly recommending that he change the day to MAY 18th. This will also give Dixie Storm one full week to recover from the Balance of Power 24Hr game Dixie is hosting. Hopefully this will work for everyone else. I just know that there is no way my team can play. If everyone else agrees with me, please email Woody at paintball@dixiestorm.com. The more emails or phone calls Woody gets the more he will change the date. So everyone give a holler to Woody. Thanks!
