when you get a chip do you have to like desolder the old one and put a new one in or something?

If you have an original chip board, the chip is socketed. You just pluck it out and replace it. PM me if you are interested in one.

if you have a was board you cannot put a different chip in it. you will need to buy a whole new board. but, as kma says, if you have the original chip board it just pulls out and you plug in a new one.
