Well after using a friends quest in my last tourney (and taking first!) I had to have one. So I have joined the family! I picked up a brand new olive Quest. I have a couple of quick questions for you guys though.
Is the gun pre-lubed and ready to rock or do I need to break it down and lube it before I hit the field this weekend? And what grease should I use? I heard the stuff it comes with isnt that great and that hater sauce is the best way to go. I have some Dow 55 laying around... is that what it needs?
Ive heard about some possible upgrades, in particular the Golmember bolt. What performance benefits will the golmember bolt have for me? Will it be easier or harder on paint? Is accuracy effected at all?
Are there any other upgrades I should consider? Im not that interested in the snatch pin or a different board; I think the WAS should be sufficient unless somethng else is by far superior.
Thanks in advance guys! I love this beast already!

Congrats on the tourney and new purchase. You will be absolutely impressed with the quest. As far as lube, it should have come with hater sauce if you got it new, (that is preferred). I used dow for a week, then got some hater helped with o-ring wear. I am getting roughly 2 pods extra with a the goldmember. I would seriously consider a snatch pin since it makes breaking down a breeze. I have not noticed any difference on paint hardness between the stock and goldmember, and the accuacy is ball on for both. As far as upgrades, I got a bionic feedneck to make quick clamping, and GM and snatch. Cant think of anything else u would need. Just wait till you hit the the field with it, and read Lu's sticky for all important info about the quest.

1st... no gun is "prelubed"... you need to lube any gun you get thats sat for any amount of time. you DO need to lube it before you go and blast faces with it. hater sauce is the new stock lube and the preferred lube, but shocker lube or the like will work. dow is fine. as far as upgrades... the snatcpin only lets you take it apart without tools and the goldmember gives you a pod or two extra shots. wether its worth it is up to you. accuracy and varius things like that all depend on the ball and barrel fit.

Many ballers have been able to shoot their quests at insanely low pressures such as Cdimic with 35-45.
DONT ATTEMPT this untill your gun is thoroughly broken in. Once u have balled a whole summer with it then try adjustments. There is no reason to rush into tweaking your settings to soon. <<<THIS is what I believe has caused the majority of the shootdown issues and consistancy issues some experience.
A solid 75-100 lpr will treat you just fine. I keep mine at about 80. I get a barely noticable amount of kick but never worry about FSDO. I know my first shot is gonna goggle the backman to worried about shouting to check the snake...
Do I hope i can eventualy drop the lpr.. hell yea, BUT my gun has done it for me. I had it darn near 100 brand new. now im near 75. Hatersauce makes all the difference.
Im not bashing anyone with a 40 lpr, Im just as envious, BUT I have not only seen the problems associated with over zealous tweaking I have expeirenced them. ***look at my avatar. I owned a black gloss and blue gloss. So i switched parts, and tried tweaking it to be insanely low pressure. I had the worst FSDO, horrid consistancy. IT TOOOK ME FOREVER to PATEINTLY fix the problem. Dont make the same mistake.
Ask FEPrich, or BIGpImPeR....OR ANyone at FEP.
You will make their lives 10x easier if you dont mess with perfection. Leave the markers as stock as possible with 80-100 psi. ONCE broken in, and you have learned the gun then slowly tweak it. Drop it 5psi a month or so.
Please please..... we can stop many of these problem threads with patience, learn from my mistakes!
As for my new dust blue quest....well she is awaiting new grips....otherwise she is getting a rest this weekend, then i will continue to baby her and break her in.
Last but not least my max performance tips.
1)NEW BATTERIES, (not dollar store ones) - a new battery can fix a million issues before you create more issues messing with settings, lube amounts, and pressure.
2)Middle urethane oring! ( One of my quests even performed better with middle and front.)
3) HATE HATE HATER SAUCE FTW
4) DOnt overlube the regulators
5) Lube every case, dont bitch just do it....I can lube my gun faster than i can clean my goggles.
6) DOnt Fk with your settings just because you can.
7) AntiBolt stick is your friend it will help your get rif of your FSDO without making you raise ur dwell to high.
8) If your lpr is creeping, check your lpr spring, if its soft, call fep and get a new one.
****OH YEAH, my last tip from another mistake i made with my previous quests, IF RICH or DALE (Fep PRoduction MonKeys) LOCKTIGHTED any part on ur gun, DONT UNDO IT! Red Locktyte should be like a stopsign, red means put your tools away and dont touch unless they tell you to.....which im betting they wont.
Enjoy the Quest, show it off.
Mad Props to FEP.... once again " IM NOT WORTHY! "
Whats their number? 805-487-5297 call it and bug the hell out of Rich.
From one of my previous posts..
 to the win, and Welcome to our family.

First, Welcome, you will love the gun. Second, LU's thread is really the gold standard to follow for break in and set up.
Third, I love the NEW platinum member that FEP is shipping (order the new GM bolt, comes in silver) and the snatch pin. The gm's have increased the efficiency by about 2 pods; and the snatch pin really helps in preventing you looking for an allen wrench. We have a headlock on one gun ( I like) and none on the other (Zach's preference)... Your Choice..
Finally- Shoot LOTS of paint until dropping the LPR down to 80-85... I'm talking 4-5 cases... Then set it and forget it...
Good luck and welcome!

Ok I just got back from the field and it shot great other than a little first shot drop off I was having. What would have been causing that? I did notice that my LPR was around 80 when this was happening. I raised it at the end of the day to 100 and it seemed to fix it, but I didnt get to test it in game. Was my LPR being set too low the probable cause of my first shot dropoff?

from LU^^^
so it was a new gun when you got it so you need to break it in
fsdo is likely to happen if you have you lpr to low durring the "breaking in" stage

Cool, thats all I was hoping the problem was. So ive probably already fixed it by raising my LPR to 100.
