was anyone else dissapointed about the way the gun worked? I checked it out at SD, but it didnt really live up to the hype. the gun is more of an in-line timmy, sort of a re-organization of the same internals. Also the fact that Bob is continuing the production of the intimidator shows that this "new technology" isnt really as revolutionary as he was telling everyone.
just a thought, wanted to know if anyone else shared my feelings.

Id rather have a timmy in one tube than two, and its like like it's simple to come up with a design it takes a lot of work.

I posted after the LA event that that's all the gun was, an inline timmy. what did you expect. it was said not to be a spool valve.

Yeah, I think SP should've stopped with the Shocker production when they released the ION.......:dodgy:
Well, not to be too much of a smartass, but just because a company releases something new, doesn't mean they should discontinue everything else they're doing. Timmy's will always be a great seller and I think some people will just keep buying them.
I'm fairly happy with my Onyx (although I haven't shot paint through it yet) so far and if they came out with some new milling for a Timmy, I might get one as well.

im not disappointed at all, the gun looks amazing, like a mix of a shocker and a DM and the inline timmy design is probably the best idea bob has come up with yet

sometimes you pbnation people really piss me off. im not talking about poeple who disagree with me, i wouldnt have posted if i didnt want to hear your opinion. it gets ugly as soon as you start bashing me for my opinion. Sinister-scrub, be ashamed for representing the sport and its players in such a poor way. And I DO own one, so dont assume my opinions are based on nothing.
anyway, im glad to hear that you guys are pleased with bob and your purchases. I always like to see smaller companies succeed by coming up with something clever and progressive. I do think this is a forward step for the timmy, since there have been so few changes since the classic besides milling.
I just wanted to see something a little more for how bob and zach talked about it in their interviews. they should be proud, but it is kinda funny that this gun was supposed to change the way we look at markers.

Just a note, the continued production of the timmy has absolutely nothing to do with the onyx. I believe the Timmy is wrapped up in NPS production still. HOPEFULLY the onyx is free and clear of NPS which from the looks of things I believe it is.

NPS has NOTHING to do with the production of the intimidator. It's always been Bob that produced (manufactured) the timmy. Heck he assembles them in a facility on his own property about 200 yards from his house. Now that's a great commute!

That is interesting. If NPS now has nothing to do with the intimidator, why would bob long start www.boblongdirect.com? He had www.boblong.com before the NPS hook up? I know bob is a very smart man but Gino had to sink his teeth into him somehow on the timmy....

I said NPS nothing to do with the production of the intimidator. (except occassionally help with designs and part sourcing).
The websites, name, licensing, packaging, marketing, sponsorship, advertising etc... are a different issue in which NPS played a big part.
It was a synergy. Once Bob split off, he's had to take on all of that other stuff by himself and with his team.

Well, Bob repeatedly said the new gun was an inline poppet type design. On many, many occasions, I have heard him say "its a Timmy at heart". However, when he says new technology he is accurate there too. No other gun uses the same radial type poppet valve as is implemented in the Onyx. A valve designed to provide the same linear air flow of the spool valve designs, with efficiency of the ram/poppet design. No other gun uses the quad eye (my words) technology, or even attempts to mimic it's true function. And, no other gun has brought us a way to drop the loader down onto the gun so far, yet still allow the use, and benefit from the strength of, a full and un-cut loader feed nipple. These three traits alone are very functional, very unique features seen for the first time in the Onyx.
I am not trying to be an ass or bash you in any way, but I want to tell you that Bob delivered EXACTLY what he was saying he would, and then ADDED some things on top of it. If you were led to believe something else, you were listening to the uninformed and your expectations were unrealistic.

That would definitely suck if you wanted to play hookie and call in sick and go hunting.....Oh, wait. He is the boss....NVM!;)
As for disappointments...it is just not being very patient while waiting for us non-techs to be able to get one and be mowing faces with the big boys. Congrats to all you that already have one.

Ah. I forgot about the quad eyes. The air flow is cool. I retract my statement. This might just be my next gun, if they can make them look nice with ripper milling.
