The World Cup Asia 2006 (WCA 2006) signifies the coming of age for paintball in Asia.
It is the final leg of the PALS (Paintball-Asia League Series) and will see the crowning of the series champions.
It will be the first time that an Asian tourney strives to surpass the 100 teams mark as well as to boldly launch a division solely for ladies.
In keeping with the spirit of it’s predecessors, the Nation Cup 2004 and APPC 2005. The WCA 2006 will strive to give the sport the fundamental aura of a mainstream sport.
Our theme last year was “You are my VIP” and this year we shall add on “Asia In Harmony” as a reflection of the spirit on which the PAL Series is built on…..friendship.

THE WORLD CUP ASIA 2006 DREAM...
As in the previous two years, the pressure to deliver has arrived and with it the dreams...
Rather than the hazy dreams that I have had in 2004 and 2005, the dream seemed vivid and almost real. Anyway...this is how it went after the initial incomprehensible bit.
I was walking into a huge building with people in serious attires and walked into one of the most well-equipped conference room I have ever seen. There were tons of press and tv crews there and a minister was giving a speech. There were a lot of important people in the room...among them even a guy from the Olympic Council...
My dream then takes me to where I saw international friends who arrived early, doing TV and press interviews. Hell...there were even a few doing a “live” session in the studios. When I switched on the TV...there were, paintball adverts galore. I ran through the channels and seemed to see paintball on...it was fuzzy...was it ESPN or AXN? (Man, it was quite a dream).
Zooooooom….I was at the launch and I saw all the paintballers by the beach. Speeches were made by important looking fellas and pretty ladies...suddenly a guy did something and there was an eruption, and the waves started to come in.... on them I saw some California pros (wonder it was the Ironmen or Dynasty guys!) surfing towards me. There was a thunderous sound and the next thing I knew, I was signing a historic document and one by one, friends from the region come forward to sign it too. Some looked red faced...they told me it was because of the free beer...(so now we have f.o.c. beers?). It was funny but I could have sworn that somewhere in there I also saw paintballers strolling around looking pretty vain in 2007 paintball products. There was a full on stage with lights and sound...hell...we even had a live band and cultural shows...hmmm…
Tournament day came...hey, I had my full paintball gear on and no one came rushing to me...hell...I'm playing!!! All the early preparation paid off...(wow...now this dream is getting corny)
There were 2007 goods on display and I could see the whose who’s in the paintball world everywhere I turn. Best of all...I saw spectators….lot & lots of them. Nope...not our regular friends and family members but actual spectators. There was a carnival like atmosphere and the crowd was taking an interest in the games going on while getting a ton of freebies from a special draw and quiz that went on. More red faced VIP guys walked by.....(ohh...free beers there too?).
The place had lots of flags and there were at least 15 different national flags on display. Girls seemed to be everywhere...outside the field, inside the field and many people seemed to be heading to a tent for massages...(happening!!)
As how a great dream should end...I was at the closing night function and I was on the podium...now was I giving away prizes, saying goodbyes or was I receiving a prize? The closing ceremony-party... was magnificent… with some of the grandest trophies ever given out...(I woke up & wiped the saliva off)
Well... dream or vision? They say that dreams do come true and in keeping with the spirit of PALS where the dream is also yours...with your support...we can make it a reality.
Cheers...too many late nights does this to a guy...See you in December!!!
The Dreamer,
Gungho Paul

Hi! I thought only pro-ams are playing for the WCA? This conflicts your declaration that we can't send our 2 pro players to join Global Gutz? Does this mean we can now send them to WCA? Or is this just applicable to the Europeans? Please be consistent to presserve the integrity of the tournament.
It's not just for fun...there are lts of expenses to make...all we ask is a fair gamePlease give us one this time.
Clarify expectations as well. Please indicate the real prize money and whats the in kind? Last time you promise $1,000 US for the amatuer champions, you gave only $800 plus the inkind is a free entrance to Bali paintball field (yet you clearly know that we leave in the Philippines. Until now this haven't been answerred inspite of all the promotions you are making.
Clarify things first...we love playing with our Malaysian brothers but please! be fair this time!

Hi Big Brother,
I may be wrong in saying this but from what I understand, if you have pro-players in your team - then your team can only compete in the prelims and cannot qualify for the quarterfinals. That's why the organisers are putting up a Invitational Trophy for he top pro-team (based on their prelims only score). But please don't quote me on that, you better clarify with the organisers.
If you want to compete for the WCA Trophy and Prize Money, then unfortunately no pro-players are allowed in the team bro. The rules did state that no pro-players allowed (highest Div 1), but they would allow pro-players to play but only in the prelims. Is that ok with you?

Dear Big Bro,
The integrity is well preserved...rest assured and I have not deviated from anything.I have only enhanced the event by giving the asian teams an opportunity to have a game with pros that they would not otherwise have the opportunity to do so.These teams of pros will go out after the qualifying round(prelim) to compete among themselves. They will not affect the results of the pro am division.
Regarding the prizes for last year's event...I really have no recollection but if it had caused your team discomfort...please accept my apology. In any case,to answer your question regarding the prizes for the WCA 2006 tournament...it will be at least 2/3 cash and 1/3 paintball goods by sponsors.
Do feel free to call me if there is anything that needs clarification....Hp:+6012 2184333(Paul)

This is a Big Bang for the sports. I'm getting excited to do this in PI soon! I'm looking at 2008. I'll try to work on this after the world cup in Orlando. You doing an great job Paul! Just be consitent on the announcement of prizes. The boys are really expecting Big!
I will forgo my plans of sending 2 Pros (pinoys) from the US if you can guarantee that there will be no pro players to be mixed up with our Malaysian teams. I just heard that there are 3 European Pro players that will be entering the Proam division.
Now! we are short of 2 more players for the Proam division. I might just get some foreign players (not with the pro division) who can join us. Or, I might just pass on this tourhey for Proam division and just focus on the Amature div. and my ladies team.
I'll be leaving for Orlando this 7th of the month. I'm suppose to leave last 30th of November but tons of work had to be done first. I will ty to help in promoting the cup while I'm there.
Allan Phang knows how I work.
Good Luck and more power! Hope the Asians will win this time!
Please clarify the mixing of team members as well. Each team must be provided with team rosters.
Please avoid mixing Proam and Am players. Hope the Thailand adventure won't happen again. Like 3 or more proams registered play as am team.
Cosistency = Integrity

Hi Big Brother,
Announcing the prizes can sometimes be difficult when we try to push the boundaries of prizes here in Asia. When it was announced earlier...the funds were projections and hence the slight vagueness on the breakdown. We then had to work like hell to achieve the targets set.
The three pros mixed in with the few Malaysians are playing for the PRO INVITATIONAL TROPHY as a PRO Team.....not the World Cup Asia Div 1 prizes.I know who they are and they are all gentlemen who would never dream of sandbagging an event.
Do I really need to gurantee that there will be no pros in the Malaysian teams....there has never been...since the Nation Cup 2004,APPC2005,TIPC2006 & ITPC2006 and there will never be as long as I'm the tournament director. In any case...I gurantee.
There could be up to 4 to 6 of such teams comprising of top pros and they are all just competing for the promotion of the sport to help the sport grow here.Just a trophy...no prizes involved.
They would not affect the chances of the true div.1 teams either as they will leave the div. after the preliminaries to their own finals.16 top div.1 teams will still move on to the Qtrfinals.
As per the qualifications of players for the divisions, apart from Malaysia where there is a clearer picture,we depend on the integrity of leaders from the other regional countries and what we have gathered and studied from the PALS database. We have been accurate in our assessment thus far and would like to know specific reference to what you may think have happened in Thailand.

Please let me know and I would be happy to explain...everyone must be happy.:)One of the definition of a pro-am division is a division where pros and amateur do mix up and play.
Thanks for the compliment.....I hope to have the stamina to keep it up and would count on your support for our event in December. Thanks for assisting us promote the event while you are at Orlando too.
Have a good trip and don't work too hard....

Sorry for the wrong input. maybe I had a wrong count. Anyway they are all our good friends. I stand corrected. Sorry bros...wrong count maybe you are just too good to play as amatuers.

Hi Big Bro...
Regarding Team XXtioneer...
1)The team comprised of
Exkay-Formerly Xplosive(Div 2),never played in Div1 before.Age:20+
Arjuna-Formerly Mas Hornets(Div 2),Played twice (Div 1) in 2006 Age 20+
Catherine-Formerly Xplosive(Div 2),Played once with G'n'B(Div 1)in 2006 Age:38
Raja Anor-G'n'B player(Div 1) Age:43
Nick-Formerly Raskal Red(Div 2) Age:20+
Suhaimi-Formerly Xplosive(Div 2)Never played in Div 1 Age:30
Pot-Formely WK Army(Div 2)Played once in Div 1(XFOX) Age:20+
With the exception of Raja, the rest are Div 2 players who played with the Div 1 on occassion because the Div 1 teams were short of players.
Xplosive,by the way is the team your novice team(Global Pinoy II) beat very convincingly on the way to winning the Div.2 in 2005 in the Asia Pacific Paintball Championship 2005(APPC5005).Xplosive came in 3rd.
This team also got third only in Thailand. For the record,Malaysian teams has never gotten first in any of the divisions since we started organising international tourneys in 2004.If anything...I'm guilty of maybe being too strict when it comes to Malaysian teams as we know them so well.
If this team should be in Div 1,there will be at least 5 other teams that should be there and they are all international teams.(Thailand & Phillipines)
With the above...I do believe that the judgement of the PALS has been accurate and I hope all would be good...whichever team wins in Dec.This is because we are only concern with one thing and that is that THE SPORT OF PAINTBALL WINS....
p/s:We are particularly elaborate with the answer on this matter as it is sensitive and do not wish for any other to think that we are without structure and unfair.TQ
Paul

Nice answer! I'm referring to my friend's team Hadi! I'm sour graping because I should have taken him first...he! he! and so with Pot and Gary. Are they still in Am/ Nov?
You know Paul! The rulings you have done are very considerate. There are times that the Teams are registerred with as Pro Ams and you still allow them to play with AM/ NOV, after a request or becuase they play bad in the last tourney, I thnk we need to respect a one year or a series before you change category. This might become a precedent. There are rules but rules must set guidance.
As far as I'm concerned and based on my personal oppinion. Qualifying players as pro-ams or am/nov must be strict to avoid sand bagging. We compete and invest money and we expect rules not to be bent or changed for last minute just to make any team happy. You must also have somebody from each country whom you think can be asked about the level the players are playing. Isn't it that you know Malaysian players better than we do? (except Todo---we know him by heart and body)
I thought this is a tournament with well defined rules. I'm not happy mixing Pro ams with Pros from Europe or with US Pros just to have a feel of playing with them. I still dream of a real GOOD tourney where the same level of teams are playing, thats why there is a division. Because even us cannot have good refs like you have there. Anyway this is your tourney and we are just invited teams so I think all we need to do is watch and obey your rules.
Last time you split the Pro am team in two. The other Group plays with the Tontons and got an automatic points just by playing with them (unfortunately no team wins) but they got 1 crucial point to qualify for the finals. The other group never had a chance and most teams including us fail to qualify for the finals because of the crucial 1 pt. that the other group with a Tonton points earned. You know how many...just 1 point.I suggest that you form a group for PROS but never mix them up with Asian pro-ams at the moment. Those who would like to play with the Pros must be optional.
We are not sending Pro Ams this time because I respect your rulling that we can't send 2 pros. Now you will be playing with pros in the prelims...how's this?
Now that we are not sending any proam team this time, hope others will react about this case with unbiased answer.
Are the bullets free if you play with the pros? ...definitely not.
Since this is coined as WORLD CUP ASIA hope we can have a separate division for pros so we can watch them play live...now I'm getting excited.
Hope rules are with consensus if it will not affect the interest of sponsors and team owners.
Good Luck! All I want is to make a value on our investment and play as fair as possible. No offense this is from my personal oppinion and very constructive.

I understand Big Bro....your thoughts are very constructive and it had made me more informative as I have been quiet prior.Steps made are not by me alone as there are more experienced individuals around.I have consulted them prior and have considered the steps taken to the best of my abilities.
Not neccessary good enough but enough for it to be fundamentally sound and for my christian conscience to be clear. It is very hard to fulfill and satisfy everyones thoughts and idealogy and I hope to have the patience of all concerned while the system is perfected.
Will always try to please....hope you'll be happy in Dec...See you then Big Bro.:)

I believe Paul Gungho forgot to include a few known facts that most of us players in Malaysia knows. Allow me to refresh his memory.
Almost all the players in XXtioneers are Pro-Am players. The only reason they are playing in AM div is because they wanna win that division, they wanna look good with the sponsors, must be gungho's plan. Remember Asia Cup 06 at Bukit Jalil. Gungho also forgot to mention that xxtioneers were the Asia Cup 06 AM champion. Gungho's trying to sweep info under the rug
Lets talk bout their players
a)Exkay - u said he never played in Div1. wasn't he in your team(GnB Div1) in the 4th MPOC in July......
b)Arjuna - played only 2x in Div1 this year. u must be kidding me. There's been 4 MPOC leg so far, he played in all 4. He played in NPL 1st leg in UM under Team Xplosive in Pro Am div. arhhh before i forget, team Xplosive was kick up to play in Pro Am div in the NPL because they had 4 Pro Am player listed in the roster & most of them are playing for XXtioneers now.:xeyed:
c)Catherine - hmmmm she started playin Pro AM div last leg of the MPOC '05. Played 4 more legs of MPOC '06 & also was in the Xplosive NPL team.
d)Raja Anor - cool dude with bad back. He's a world class Pro Am Player.
e)Nick - never played Pro-AM ? wasn't he part of Raskal International that won the Asia Cup 06 Pro Am div? i got a pic of him on da podium...wanna see.
f)Pot - yup. he's on Team Xfox & played once with them before in MPOC 4th leg.
g)Suhaimi - the only true blue AM player.
So next time Gungho if u wanna lie then don't do it in a public forum like PBnation, it will look bad on you.

My only guess would be that you are a disgruntled paintballer with a bone to pick with me and of course severely misinformed.

I don't have any intention of discrediting the "lies" or what so ever. It seems that you know Malaysians better than us. Anyway, truth will prevail. By the way Paul you missed to mention my best friend from Indonesia, he's from proam too.
I'm still here in Orlando. I have talked to a lot of PB players, manufacturers and suppliers. I think most of them are curious to see the other World Cup and know whats happening in Asia. They only have one question? Why World Cup Asia is the title. I asked PSP guys...they said it was done even before they see it. There's only one World Cup for them. My excuse...Paul is inviting players arround the World...anyway it's there maybe we can correct it soon!
Re. Divisions of players...lets think of getting a good data base soon for proper monitoring...we can always start to change.
With regards to my comments regarding sand bagging and a one-man-rule thing re. revisions on rules maybe we can get consensus from a body composed of fireld operators, team captains and team managers so we can make everybody happy.
Congrats for the Press Cons success. Hope we can invite more Malaysian participants. Sorry! It didn't reach other countries in the region. This would be a nice promotion for them too!

Dear Xtioneer,
The development of paintball in Malaysia is still in it's infancy. As any developing sport in any country there are a lot of trial and errors along the way.
I am very sure whatever discrepancies that arose from previous tournaments were unintentional on Gungho's part. We all do have our flaws no matter how hard we try to hide it. Anyway I'm sure once the industry matures the rules will fall in place eventually.
Yes, the players that you mentioned have been involved in other classifications before. Wow!! I'm really amazed at the indepth knowledge you have on the players. You must be 'someone' in the paintball industry.
But you may have left out the point that mostly all the players ( 99.99%) in Malaysia jes placed themselves in any classification anyway.
There were hardly any teams in Malaysia about 3 years ago. Mostly everybody came and played 'recball' on Sundays.
Then came the MPA (Malaysia Paintball Asscociation). Haha..we were all in long sleeved black jerseys or motorcross jerseys.
Raskal, G & B , Nighthawks , Desert Fox , etc were the 1st teams to be formally initiated....anyway that's hissssssssssstory.
My point is what's the difference anyway when everyone jes chose their own Divisions they wanted. Why?? Some teams don't even deserve to be where they are today.:crash:
So I applaud Gungho for making a positive effort to establish international rankings for the teams in Malaysia.Or anyone who has worked hard to bring the paintball to Malaysia and the world.
It's still a lot better than the 'home cooked' versions of paintball tourneys we had so far. So as things evolve for the better we can serve more palatible meals with less 'seasoning'.
So c'mon gents let's stop yapping and start rolling
GunghoPaul
11-14-2006, 05:08 AM
Ok...no yapping but just to clarify the status of the World Cup Asia 2006.I've informed my partners but clarrification in detail has only been done to the Millennium about it.This is because the PSP has been really busy.
There is now the World Cup-Orlando(PSP),World Cup-Paris(Millennium) and the latest of course World Cup Asia(PALS).Now there has to be a World Cup-World...isn't it?
We don't have that yet as it should involve the world but we have seen the emergence of the Intercontinental Cup involving Europe and USA.It won't be long before the other continents are involved and then we can truly have a
WORLD CUP-World.Could it happen in 2008?:)
Will the other continents be ready by then? What will happen to the other World Cups(Orlando,Paris and Asia)?Well...maybe they'll become the World Cup Series where the top 4 teams from each region will qualify and compete in the biannual highlight of our sport...(like the World Cup for Football which is once every four year)
Make sense so far?Well..if what I say is true...it would be at a visionary very high level at this moment and would not really be explained in detail to all and sundry.I am not declaring all this and I leave it to your thoughts if someone has a dream(No...not I) to make this happen.
The PSP and PALS are separate entities and partners(though PALS is young)inform and clarify to each other....when time permits and if decisions are at odds...
Sorry if not all has been informed in detail and will make ammends during the AAPBF conference to be chaired by Mr Laurent Hamet(Millennium)...cheers.
At least we have lots to talk about when we meet....:)

Hi guys
My turn to add something to this topic but unlike xtioneers & baywatch here who both aren't man enough to reveal their true identities i'll have no probs saying what's in my mind. Baywatch do sound much like Gungho tho hahahahaha :)
Firstly, My team & i have been known to be outspoken on and off the field & we've had a few forum debates over the years with paul & XPb.
Agree with Big Brother on the need for a database on players for better monitoring, afterall we wouldn't want to have sandbaggers running around in a lower division, do we? My team WK Army had the pleasure of going against Xxtioneers in the finals of Asia Cup 06 at Bukit Jalil KL. Great players, great team but a bunch of sandbaggers...that's the simple truth. Almost all of the xxtioners comes from GnB & Xfox. The cream of the players will play in Mayhem in Div1 while the rest will play in Div2 as xxtioneers.Where else can you have 4-5 Div 1 players playing in Div2, most of the other tourneys in m'sia limits it to 2 Div1 players in any Div2 teams but not with these guys..it also helps when the organizers are the same people.
yup, 3 years ago there weren't any div in malaysia, u guys called it Open Division but that was 3year ago man. This is Today.I'll take an example, NPL(National paintball league M'sia) have a database of all players who have played in NPL before, so there won't be any problem arising on players playing in the wrong div. That was how NPL kick up Team Xplosive to play Div 1 in NPL UM since most of the players were pro-am. 5 fantastic legs of NPL, profesionally organise, can't say the same about you guys tho.
My team won't be playing at the WCA06 but we'll be rooting for xxtioneers in Div2 since they are the team to watch & fav to win, if the organizer is OK with them having 4-5 Div 1 player then who am i to argue, go xxtioneers go
I did a posting on this a couple of months ago in the Raskal Forum, check it out

a database is indeed needed to prevent things like sandbagging from happening in any event. Kherox (not that im attacking you or anyhting like that) cited the NPL (national paintball league M'sia) and how well they were at keeping the sandbagging to a minimum. but can i ask you how many teams participated in that league? how many international teams? with a tourney as large as WCA that have teams from all over the asian region getting ready to swap paint with one another and teams from the states and europe who want to give us asian teams a run for our money, you really cant compare the two. maybe the NPL can help paul and share their database of the teams so that it will make pauls job a little less hectic. although it will deter teams from trying to sandbag, it wont really solve the problem. events will always have sandbaggers no matter how prepared and how organized a series is.
the pals series is in its first year... give paul and the rest of the awesome staff at xtion a break. no matter how prepared they can be... there will always be room for improvement...and as long as they try to improve themselves, things will only get better! if it werent for paul and his "VISIONS" the asian region would still be years behind europe and america. we finally have a series of our own wherein we dont have to travel literally tens of thousands of miles just to play in a 3 day event that they have in the states or europe, we now have that in our own "backyard" thanks to paul and xtion.
the problem i see with the seedings of teams is that there are organizations/teams from countries in the region who "thought" they were better than they really are. banging away on their silly drums on how good they are and at representing their country but fall short of the things they claim they will do. so, after coming to realize that they arent as "hot" as they think they are, they want to drop a division or two, just so they can feel better about themselves by beating the crap out of lesser skilled teams and please their sponsors.
last years tourney the team from taiwan had one or two players guesting on their team who are now in the semi-pro or even pro division in the NPPL, having played on teams like mommas boys etc. when i found about this was i pissed? sure i was! but did i cry to the organizers about it? NOPE. it just gave me and my team the will to strive and better ourselves. sure, they should have been penalized even after the tourney, stripped of the first place that they got help in getting, but that is for the organizers to deal with, not me.
but look at how the taiwan team is doing now. 2nd and 3rd places in the first two legs and without the help of outside talent! they are a powerhouse team in asia now, heck they are up there with team datis from iran for overall champions of the pal series.
now with world cup asia fast approaching, im pretty sure there will be teams out there that will try to get the upper hand and try to tap the vast, highly skilled players pool from europe and america. I'm pretty sure gungho and the rest of the xtion staff will be keeping a close eye on teams and the rosters they submit for the tourney so things like sandbagging will be kept to a minimum and maybe eliminated.
to paul and the men and women at xtion; my hats off to you guys and gals for bringing an event that can be compared to events elsewhere in the world to our "backyard". keep up the good work! it's human nature to bitch about things that go wrong; but neglect to say thanks (not all the time) when things are going good. so keep at it guys!!! and see you all very soon!

now here's my take on all of this.....
kherox's observation about xxtioneers team composition is correct.........as long as we keep our criticisms "constructive".....i think it's all for the better. Letting the event organizers know what we don't like about their events keep them on their toes, thus ensuring a better one next time out. But let's not forget to give the credits when credits are due.
and i agree with spyder that bec. of the efforts put out by Paul and his xtion staff......our international events are getting bigger and better each year....but still there are lots to wish for......and if i'm right about Paul, he'll soon deliver (pls. don't let me down man).
as far as i can recall, the first international tourney in asia was in 2004 (Phils. Asian Cup) and i know Spyder had a lot to do about that to make it happen.....Global Gutz hosted that one and received a lot of flack....it would have been okay if comments came from the players who participated but alas it came from those who never even witnessed the event....sure, there's a lot to ask for....it was the first time GG hosted an int'l. tourney in the PI..and don't forget that afterwards.....a big boom in paintball tourneys around the region came......all of a sudden there's Ntion's Cup...then MPOC....then NPL....the XPP int'l at the Fort.....followed by Asia Cup 2005 and 2006... so it was not a failure as some critics would want to think so....
what the hell am i getting at you ask....
simply...it's this....if we all only try to appreciate the little things that we achieve in each event that comes our way.....maybe we can walk off the tourneys with all smiles in our faces and joys in our hearts even if we didn't win anything.....i know....we all spend a lot of cash in these events....but hey...you can't take it with you, can you?
i'm not saying for us to turn a blind eye if we see mistakes....let's make it known with the organizers and specially to the players....because the player's deserve the best tournament ......but let's not forget that the operators deserve also to profit.
PEACE:D

Since you are "man enough"...I guess I will entertain you.The match between WK Army and XXtioneer was pretty close and I do recall tempers flaring on your team's part as a result of the competitiveness.
XXtioneers only made it into the finals after a best of 3 with AK 47 with 1 player standing in the final match. You guys may have had it easier in your semis. They also lost to the Phillipines team in the qualifiers...did yours?
Most of the players in XXtioneer also started the same time as you guys. Not Anor-lah but he is 43+.Yes..you guys have been playing solely in Div 2.Perhaps maybe too long already since you are saying people who start at the same time as you guys are sandbaggers...heh..heh.Sorry..seriously,you do belong in Div.2
Sorry to hear your team can't play and it is good to hear you saying good things about your sponsors...is it the NPL?:)
Cheers...:)

gungho getting personal,chillout man.:D
anyway, let me now entertain you back. Yup,it was a great final  .Xxtioneers or was it xtioneers x beat us in 2 games straight. Pot(who coincidently plays for xfox/xxtioneers now)nearly had his tag removed by the Field marshal for his outburst after the 2nd game but what a game it was. At the end of the day, we were all smiling with a grin knowing who the real amateur champ was on that day.
There’s no need to go into details on how xxtioneers got into the final or how we got into the finals but if U want details, I give u details. We qualified 3rd behind Pinoy2 & xxtioneers. We lost 3 games in the prelim, against pinoy2,demonz gollum & xxtioneers. In the qtrs, again we lost to pinoy2 but qualified 1st. u need anymore details? checkout the pics

Our 1st tourney was Asia Cup 05 novice div. Out of the 6 guys/gal on xxtioneers that played against us in the AC06 finals, 4 guys/gal were already playing in Amateur Div, Anor in Pro Am div. Exkay is the only new guy to the team. So don't say we've been too long in AM div, between AC'05 & AC'06 is just 1 year & u say we should be in pro am already hahahahahaha. with such a vast pool of teams and players that the asian region has, keeping tabs on the skill level of teams/players alone is daunting. how does one go about judging a players/teams skill?
1. number of years a player has been playing? this can be a good guage of a players talent, but a player who has been playing for 4 years can also have the same talent as a player who has been playing for 4 months.
2. number of tournaments a team/player has played in? this is also a good guage of talent, but with the number of growing players, and the tendency of teams to pick up new players and old players moving to new teams (and old teams changing names to sandbag happens alot in the U.S.) makes this a difficult parameter to use.
3. teams/players performance in a tournament? depending on how good or how bad a team is doing in a certain division. the nppl takes the top4 teams during the course of a year in semi-pro, and bumps them up to pro level (and takes the bottom four pro teams and drops them down to semi pro) for the next season. this is a good idea. with the pals season about to end, the top four teams in div2 should be bumped up to div1 for next season. they should also take into account a teams participation in other tournaments or leagues outside of PALS.
4. team's/player's own judgment. in a perfect world this would be the answer. but we dont live in a perfect world, and with teams/players wanting to always comeout on top, sandbagging is the only way for them to go.
5. .............? (i can only think of four at the moment, so feel free to add if you have ideas.)
take into account all four factors and you should have a pretty solid criteria for judging a players/teams skill.
or an organizer can just take the easy route, and say all teams that have particiapted in div2 throughout the year irregardless of how well or mediocre they have performed will be bumped up to div1 along side all the teams that have participated in div1 the past season.
maybe paul can get rid of the rule that permits players from higher divisions to "guest" on a lower division team. i think the rulebook states that a div2 team can field not more than 2 div1 players at any given tournament. Why not just get rid of this rule? seems to me it will just add more confusion as to a teams status and make it easier for a team to sandbag. if an organization threatens to withdraw his/her team from participating because they werent allowed to do so; well who cares?!?! you are trying to sandbag the tourney anyways just so your team can "perform" better. Im pretty sure a tournament as big as the WCA wont come to its knees and beg for your teams participation.
just my 2 centavos :D

By the way, nobody in Malaysian Paintball regard you as leader. Due to the lack of leadership you shown, I think it's time for you to do some damage control. This is an advice from Malaysian Paintball Industry members.

hmmmm........
i've been reading and monitoring the post for quite sometime and i told myself that i won't be involve in any of these discussions since one of the poster (xxtioneer) is not brave enough to give his true identity.
but as the conversations goes along, i can't help it but to throw myself to the jungle since i've seen others throw themselves as well and from what i think its just making an a-s kissing remarks who would miss the point of discussions.
related remarks and opinion were express regarding wca and i appreciates the good exchanges of opinions between gungho paul and big brother. then came xxtioneer who wrote something that would be true or just making some noise. the post could be more credible if he don''t hide from an unknown handle but then kherox somehow supported the post which make the post credible enough to be discuss and with that gungho paul answered that alledge accusations of most d1 players in d2.
the discussions now is on the players qualifications based on the rules set, so better focus on those and not on how hard the wca organizers work for this event and sugessting that to give them a break. it is better talk about how to correct things than giving a sore a-s opinions
now on the topic.
the staff and organizers of wca are doing everything to make this event great and with their efforts, another milestone in paintball history is being written but they must also make sure that all must be fair to everyone. in the end the true winner here is the sport and all player will benifit on it.
so guys! may i propose that we stop the finger pointing, accusations and citing nonsense opinions.

hahaha! same here spyder130!
well giving credit were credit is due is ok but i am not sure where you are coming from bro hehehe. they are talking about xtion d2 team with d1 rosters. and still you applaud and tell the reader to give them a break. hahaha!
and yes, you are very correct that you posted remedy on how to avoid sandbaggings but i must say that the current rules (inwhich i hope you know) is only 2 d1 players may join and d2 team. so if they follow of what you have written then they should or must change the players seeding and qualifications which i doubt. when i said to correct things is to follow the current rules in players qualifications
so maybe sometimes we must try to be objective on our post or maybe just stay away and not to be involve on a topic if we can't be neutral hence it will be read differently right. it doesn't mean that because it is a public forum then we can write all we want, somehow i think there's an invisible bordeline that we must consider and would not cross

and yes, you are very correct that you posted remedy on how to avoid sandbaggings but i must say that the current rules (inwhich i hope you know) is only 2 d1 players may join and d2 team its clearly stated in my post that teams are only allowed to field 2 div1 players on div2 teams, why would you think that i didnt know this?
so if they follow of what you have written then they should or must change the players seeding and qualifications which i doubt. when i said to correct things is to follow the current rules in players qualifications where in my post did i say that they should adopt this at once? again i ask you to re-read my post before you post (how did you put it again? oh non-sense opinion). the reason why sandbagging is going on in tournaments is because of the "guesting" rule. so my suggestion was just to get rid of this rule altogether. again, where in my post did i say that they should follow what i have to say?
you seem to forget that i too am a player, and that what goes on during tournaments affect me just as much as you and your team. so my suggestions/opinions are opinions of a player. theres no hidden meaning in anything that i post. re-read my posts and you will come to see that.

Wow Bros! Bad or good credit it's still a credit! Hey! just watched the World Cup Asia! It's really awesome! Big! and very organized. They have clear rules before the tourney and it's the body who make the rules and I think World Cup won't be this Big if the players and sponsors are not happy!
Simple rules...logical rules are what they have. They never complicate things! You know what my late dad said...Son, always follow your good judgement and everything will run smoothly and right. KISS Keep it Simple and ------.
Wake up! Bros! the world is watching...time to change...let's keep our heads together and sit down and make things better...move on!
Truth hurts! but this should be taken constructively! Asia is Asia, and will never be like Europe or the US because of many reasons! For people with the right mind we are still living in a third world country...but the world is looking at us...if we work together as One Asia...we will be more self sufficient than Europeans and US. One of the biggest difference is...they are richer than us. But we can make a difference...we play as brothers...blood is thicker than water.
Global is committed to conduct series of clinics from reffing to playing in 2007. Then a Big event for 2008! Hope things will be on the right track this time. Lets move on! For the meantime...change!
By the way! Global Gutz needs at least 2 of the Best Malaysian, 2 Thailanders, 2 Indonesian and 2 Filipino Paintball Players...we are forming the ASIAN TIGERS TEAM for the World Cup in 2007 here in Orlando. Please PM me your suggestions! Have a sponsor to make this happen.
Global Gutz is just excited to meet our brothers again in Malaysia...it not for the Cup...it's a team commitment...before, we want to shoot them hard...now we want to hog and kiss them...not with my Pinays! It it true that it's prohibitted to kiss in public there in Malaysia?

C'mon xxtioneers ..help la to defend ur Boss.
Is it true ?? Ur players move up and down the league as and when the need arises, ??
As the pioneer of paintball in ur country that's rather strange.
We should set a good example. We need a controlling body to monitor all thse malpractice (if true of course ) ...could we show all the registered players on a special thread...?? So that we could avert future pitfalls.
The special monitoring system should contain details like photo, name (nickname oso), ic number , weight , height , medical history , dental records, and last but not least DNA sample.
We dun wan a last minute switcheroo number.
A lot of money being charged for player id BUT i think all this is going to waste if NO proper monitoring, rite??
For the future of paintball players in Malaysia, we need to initiate change NOW!!
We cannot afford tyranny anymore.

then Lil'Jon ( Junaidi..i think he's gonna be head marshall for WCA ) instructed us to go back on semi. We lost eventually with the X-Fox 4 man up.

Indeed WCA is just around the corner.
The past is the past. A lot of things can be done by the organiser to improve.
But hopefully ther is no abuse jes so the in house teams gets a better  advantage.
Of course there is no need to defend. Afterall the milk is spilled.:O

My Dear Raphael,
your reply was very enlightening to say the least.
Your statement were filled with admissions of guilt.
1) 5 question marks ????? shows a defense which is weak that must be supported by 5 ?????. It also shows uncertainty on ur part.
2) You mentioned 'accuse others' , when in actual fact i did not mention anybody else .... huh?
3) You say ..." for all we know...." . Who are the "we"...? Does the "we" know wat u have done?
4) You mention " hypocrites "...when i am the only one talking about this topic , so u are definitely not refering to me..
How did u know which topic i was talking about?...coz i sure did not mention it anywhere...
In that topic "you" so adamantly flamed quite a few teams ( especially those playing in another paintball park)
5) You mentioned ..." you are a victim "...
"Victim"...of wat crime , might i ask....?
Ralphael,
I would have expected u as one of the most senior members of the paintball fraternity to have acted more responsibly and showed a sense of leadership amongst the newbies, instead u chose to use a public forum to pave a path of distrust and hatred amongst the very community that has supported ur existence until this very day. Everyone is so dissapointed.
Me? I'm one of the players council you accused of being corrupt.
Corrupt? From? A cup of coffee and a lot of second hand smoke during the meetings..to try to foster goodwill and better harmonious existence among all
players.
Yes !! I am corrupt probably 4 trying 2 stay neutral 4 too long.
Why now in an international forum ?
Perhaps u should have thought about that before u started kicking sand in everyone's face.
Now u have 2 learn for every action there must be consequences.
E=mC2
C.S.I ...already done it !!
All u have 2 do is ask for the proof. I will post it on this forum!!
Remember : I AM WATCHING U

BANNED!!
6th of December 2006,
Today I made history is Malaysian Paintball by being the first ever player to be rejected from a tournament of World Cup Asia courtesy of Mr. Paul Lam Weng Yen.
The reason that Paul gave to my teammates that i was guesting for was that my name was submitted after the dateline. according to my teammates they have given the names 2weeks ago.
Even that when i met him yesterday at PJ Hilton, he was shocked to hear that i was playing in his tournament.
Cum ID registration day, which was today, my team captain told me that that I'm not allowed to play the tournament due to reasons gave by Paul's management.
Funny why it only happened after i told him that i was playing in his tournament!.. Is there a personal vendetta here Mr. Paul?
If your excuse was my name was registered late, how come you are still accepting players from other chosen teams or in your good books to register and allow them to play?
Did i do something wrong to offend your great highness Paul Lam that i was banned from playing your tournament?
Is it because i have been playing in other tournaments that wasn't organize by you that made you turn into a sour grape?
If i was from overseas and not a Malaysian would you imposed the same ruling?
Or you just did this this because I'm a Malaysian that you don't like!
Please explain in writing why i wasn't allowed to play in your tournament! And from which rule book did you practice to exercise this rights.
Well to all the teams that will be playing WCA , i would like to wish you all the best! Have fun and have a pleasant stay in MALAYSIA.

Another sad story in Malaysian PaintBall History!!!
Don't worry bro., we will be behind you all the way ;)
I even got news that you are not the only 1, our brother Bernard of TAG also banned!!!
These made 2 sad stories in a day
Brothers show them our values & stay tight
what xtion have to gain of from all these?
So that DaBoss & Bernard won't be able to get close to the international teams & company.
I think they worried that the international company will know wat nuts had they done to the PaintBall market in Malaysia.
They feel that they are strong with the international contact, that's why they don't even bother about the local players & teams. Remember last in first out basis which was impose on Malaysian teams
But if with DaBoss & Bernard going to WCA & get close to the international company?? What will happen
Without the international supports who r xtion
That is why
Team Delta Rovers Malaysia - Delta Rovers Paintball Teams
from the beginning had already BOYCOTT xtion & any of their event
Coz they never respect Malaysian teams.
Brothers...... show them our strength.

It's not your fault bro, please try to do a recount as well. Congratulations to a great event. It's getting smoother and smoother. Just one comment, please put all European and non Asian teams in Division 1 next time. It's hard to predict their skills and level of playing. But you've done a great job too! You're the Man!
Sad to say, the comment made in the papers regarding the girls team might prevent the Pinays from comming back to Malaysia again. We are not happy with the way it's published. But thanks for the wonderful pictures anyway. We played an honest game and the girls really put all their hearts in the Game. The comment is unfair and fabricated. It's even impossible to happen (re. the coach).
Good Luck in the future tourneys! and more power to your Team.
We still love Malaysia and Malaysia will remain in our hearts forever. Global Gutz is also resting for the next season. We need to prepare for a US tour next year and for the ASIAN CUP 2008. Nothing personal...just budgetary considerations! But will be very supportive as always.

TQ....Big Bro.
Sorry about the article but it in no way reflects what the organisers or even what the paintballers during the WCA thinks.Your team were the winners and deserving ones at that.
Emotions were high in that match and in many ways...we can view it positively as it is a sign of competitiveness. The reporter picked it up and wanted to hype up the event with some spice....
Anyone worth their salt in paintball would know the decisions by the ultimate is final and that's that!!Best team wins.....
Kudos for the performance of your teams in Div 2 and Ladies Div.Just caught my breath back and am now preparing for 2007.Hope you guys out here have a fantastic X'mas and may you get a sponsor that will help fulfill all paintball fantasies.....God Bless!!

Dear Big Brother.
Sorry for the late response. We have studied your team line-up for both Global Pinoy 2 (in Bangkok) and Global Gutz Pinoy 2 (in the World Cup Asia), this is the conclusion;
In the Global Gutz Pinoy 2 (WCA 2006), there is not even 1 of the original player from the Global Pinoy 2 (Bangkok) line-up.
The Global Gutz Pinoy 2 (WCA 2006) line-up consist of 3 players from Global Gutz (Bangkok) D1 team and 3 new players. Which mean that Global Gutz Pinoy 2 is a totally new team and can not be recognized as team Global Pinoy 2 anymore. Therefore the PAL Series overall points will be accumulated separately.
We also highlighted this to Mr. Mayo during the team registration. Please be informed.

Hey Bro! we enter us Global Pinoy 2. It's the team entry as well. Better check the other Teams line up as well. The Top 3 also doesnt't have original teams. I'm not asking about anything. Please review my post carefully. Now I knew it!
That's why your're confused.

I play in both the NPPL and PSP and the team owner gets the points. Name changes and players that doesn't matter, because team names and players change all the time. For instance Infamy players (Semi-Pro team in the NPPL) moved there players to the A-team for a tournament and BC Infamy was formed. BC Infamy earned points with all new players and changed their name. Those points were awarded back to the name Infamy when Infamy was reformed again. The owner decides where the points go. He paid for the entrance so the points rightfully belong to the team owner.
In the PSP Quiet Storm(D2 Xball) changed there name to Quet Storm NY and changed 90% of their players and the points stuck for them. The team owner kept the points he paid for and earned.
Look in the forums and you will see players jump from team to team to create the best teams possible. Pros do it all the time, I am not saying we are pros but if you expect the same line up all the time then you will need to lock the rosters. Rosters will never stay static because of travel between countries is difficult and expensive. As far as name changes that is symantics! Points belong to the team owner not the tournament and team name!
My thoughts ,

3rd photo...thats my boy! right there in tha gray hat! congratz chris and fellow ballerz! hope to be seeing you guys around jan.-feb. time....and i agree the owner earned the points (metaphorically speaking!) roster change has nothing to do with points earned under one owner

Redza, all you need to do is to open your heart and accept what is wrong. the probelm with your system is you make your own rules everytime you commit mistakes. Just follow a simple and logical system: ALWAYS FOLLOW YOUR GOOD JUDGEMENT. Any team can change players anytime they want. As long as they are registerred before the event. A team like xtioneer for example will always be xtioneers and will always be owned by Paul. Paul has a Prerogative to change his players anytime he wants. Players move...players leave but xtioneer will always be there.
Dirty Firdie, is a very intelligent guy, infact a consultant world wide and based in the US. He have participated in different tournaments in the US. Infact he have played with XPP in one of your tournaments there. He is a well respected player here and in the US incase you don't know. I strongly believe that he can help the Paintball Industry in ASIA. His comment is not offensive it's very constructive.
You also need to start creating a database for you to monitor the Team Players and avoid Sand bagging. If a Team enters a Pro-am Division and your tournament is a series, the whole series they should stick in one division the whole series.
This is your tournament...you can make your own rules...you can invite what team you want to participate...you can choose what ever format you have...but if you invite players from other countries, they spend dollars and work hard for it. All we ask is a fair game and lastly, you need to print the rules even before you invite them.
You run the event great. I even see how hard you've worked for this and it's succesfull...Congratulations!
Pual is a fine gentlemen in the industry. He professionlized the Sports in Asia, before you write you comments I suggest consult him first. he is a very logical guy as well.
Maybe he can understand it well! Sometimes he is even been misjudged, but I strongly believe it's not his fault.
Sometimes, conflict starts in forums like this.
Merry Christmas! Be Happy!
To all the winners...Congratulations!

Yah you're right! I think the apple won't give a damn anyway! After this a long silence...then another invitation.
Wake Up everybody!
I'm not politicking! nor getting personal! It's the situation and the system that I'm questioning.
I think it's time to make some sacrifices on our side for the good of the Industry. We will surely miss our Malaysian Brothers and Beautiful Sisters.I'm giving them after the holidays to make a Logical answer. Then Game Over!
Do you know that in the Philippines, you can get all the Durians you can get for FREE! if you catch it before it lands on the ground! Nice smell too!
Baywatch, Happy Holidays!

If u apply Murphy's Law then the everyday idiosycrancies of spoofs and levels of competency should not have been questioned in the 1st place..
Things that should not have happened BUT happened anyway
1) Players ID Tags : Players were playing on the field without any tags
Verdict : Effeciency beyond words
2) Players ID Photo : After the tourney photo had to be re taken again with
handphone camera.
Verdict : How many pixels again?
3) Inaccurate Reporting : Game between Venus (Malaysian)& GGP(Phillipines)
Dispute arose and the Phillipines team was
inaccurately given the short end of the stick
Verdict : Wats the name of the reporter again?
How many wrongs can make a right ?
In this case i guess , one too many...
Well wat can we say BUT congrats to Murphy !!!!:D
