EDIT: Ok, well I Have several ideas so I'm going to list them and hope I'm doing it right:
1) New trigger frame. The shape of the frame itself is nice but I'd like a slimmer/smaller trigger guard and a rail milled into the bottom like almost every other high end gun these days.
2) Lower feedneck
3) A reg with the macroline on the bottom or around the bottom (similar to sidewinder/hyper2)

I find the function and design of the gun itself to be almost flawless in perfomance and feel

i'll go along with what uiruru is sayin, tho id disagree on the feedneck idea and having a rail on the bottom of the grip frame. problem with that (and i've seen it happen to almost every ego i've ever seen) is that when you bust the rail (which is easy) you usually have to get a whole new grip frame which costs a lot of money verses just a new $20 rail.

also on the reg thing, i'm not sure if i'd go with a sidewinder/hyper 2 reg with the swivel part. maybe a design more like the vert. maxflo regs from smart parts.

grip frame is nice in design, but maybe work on the snatch grip. you could probably cut some metal off that and shave an ounce off the already unbelievably lite weight.

maybe move the guage back a little on the lpr. it kinda gets in the way of your left hand when holding the gun up while shooting. makes it harder to wrap your thumb around the top of the gun/barrel (the ollie lang style).

3. Build Your Own Quest on the FEP site so u can choose colors and color combinations on site. Also you can include if ordered the goldmember and snatch pin already installed so less breakings...Also u can choose what board you want included in the quest...like some might want the 2nd generation board in the 3rd generation dust edition.
4. On/Off ASA
5. Double Trigger
6. Macro Line at the bottom of the reg.

(serious) I've posted for a while I think the absolute coolest thing FEP could do would be to have plastic cases shaped exact same as the coffin boxes so we could transfer our styrofoam into them and have a permanent coffin carry case. With a handle and everything. Plastic molded like a cheap handgun carrying case.

I don't know if this is possible, but different solenoid placement to shorten the profile of the Quest even more and to provide for a better snatch grip.

dovetail mount 'built in' to the grip frame (like some timmies) but with the option to use a rail if preferred.

Quality LCD screen (like on 06 Egos, etc.) with quality buttons(not cheap membrane pad) to adjust the settings and power on/off.

Honed/polished/whatever body, bolt, and guide so you don't have to lube every case. That would make a world of difference to my lazy ass:D

Dave you know what would be fantastic is if you did different milling on the body some cool design and came out with some sick limited edition colors kind of like your old ripper with the green and purple. Also make a different style trigger and a new trigger gaurd(sp??). Eye covers leave them like they are i like them or you can mill the eye covers to look like the f.e.p. symbol on the sticker.

why not a new line of markers that are stack tube... make them smaller lighter and more efficient that what every one else offers and make fep a more versatile company instead of relying on just one style of marker for it's success.. if you could make a stack tube that shot as fast as a borg and had the consistency but was smaller and more compact than any thing else on the market every one would have to play catch up... and not to mention the maintenance on a stack tube is no where near that of a single tube design and more people would be willing to give them a try... edit{and all of your aftermarket stuff that you offer for the quest that is general would bolt right up.}

just got bought my self a quest, hopefully it gets here soon. anyways, after reading about the quest, i think what would be cool is a bolt that doesn't have exposed channels so that you don't need the front o-ring (a little more efficient) and also not have the issue of the hp gas leaking into the solenoid causing the lpr to creep up. just my 2 cents.

u should also make a world is not enough board (because u can never have enough modes) following the 007theme were u can program ur own firing modes on the computer then u would never need a new board

and last idea is to place a mini barrel cam sum were on the gun allowing u to catch video of all the face mowage u do with ur quest

i think what would be cool is there are 3 different types of quest suh as a front man, mid man, and back.

for instince the front man would have a extremy small yet really cool gun just shorten the frame and make the grip frame closer and make the reg botom line so less profile.(im making this kinda quick not super detailed)

for the mid it would be a really light gun but just a tad longer so it perfect for shouldering but also good for monuvering. and again a really cool milling job

and for the back man again a light gun but perfect for shouldering and monuvering but bigger trigger frame then the other ones since those trigger frame would be smaller to make it more compact. so for all you big guys that rip like a mother but needs your finger space. casue thats backs job to lay down the paint.

and if you dont like that idea then gun should come with a choose of bottom line reg or side like you have it now. also have it come with a on/off with a rail instead of us having to buy one. have new color ideas for gun like you could have a black trigger fram with a blue body or black body with blue trigger frame. then you need to free some space up in were the battery is make a lttle holder for it so it cant dammige the board. get a board that has some ramping modes instead of just nxl psp and semi add like some ramping modes. ok so those are my ideas and one question are you going to tell us who wins this on sunday? cause i really wanna know who wins:D

I would like to see more soft goods. Casual and paintball wear. So far everything you guys have designed has been by people who have played the game for years and the ideas,looks, and user friendlyness of everything have been awesome. I'm sure paintball pants, pads, packs, gun cases,wallets, watch w/ timer etc. designed by you guys would be great. Can't wait to see/order a headband next week. (hopefully sandana type coming soon?) How about your own line of paint with nifty skulls on the shell? My favorite thing would be a FEP taser to blast all the punk kids that don't understand the quality of the quest and think there l33t gun blows it out of the water.

oh ya you can start making a new box with the skull on the grip on the box make it intimidating to make people think its kick @$$.(of course it is but make them think it is more kick @$$ then what it really is.
and make gun holders so we can show off our quest in and out of our house on a cool gun holder with some design to it. like you could have it like flaming bars on the base of the gun holder with it saying quest and bars going up to hold the gun with the skull face there and make it look kinda like a black and white kinda color scheme so it gos with everything or just have it make different colors to match the guns. ok ill post more ideas when i get them i need to let my brain rest.:P

come out with an FEP hopper/loader, whatever u wanna call it. make it come stock with a speedfeed and 2 sets of eyes.

some kind of new barrel squeegee that makes it like super clean, and make a totally new design. like when ur playing sometimes when u stick a swab down the barrel it can push paint near the eyes. make a squeegee that u push down the barrel but it doesnt do aanything until u pull it out, like when u pull, it expands and then cleans as u pull out.

FEP gear bags that have a built in gun holder/protector that is the quests exact shape so it protects it from other stuff in your bag. also have a built in slider box thing to hold tools. and it should have cup holders or podstein holders. any maybe a built in space for barrels.

I've been harping on this for a while, but I really think a stainless or polished sleeve would help with the bolt need less lube and lengthen o-ring life.

I also think adding an additional o-ring to the bolt to help keep the high pressure from leaking past the middle o-ring when it's not lubed enough, and causing the LPR guage to spike, etc. In reality, I think QEVs would help solve this problem to. Since they only allow air to pass one direction, this would cause the higher pressure air to leak out alerting the user to the problem and not cause the LRP guage to spike. I think if you just add a manifold like the Ego has, it wouldn't be too hard to add QEVs on.

So far I think this is the problem we're seeing the most on the forum here.

The two major things I would change is the Feedneck. Make it a low rise and not a part of the body, Ie the ego feedneck, (Ive stripped the feedneck out twice allready) and the macro placement on the reg. Either lower it or put it on the bottom like a CP. I love gremlins idea, but ive heard from a pretty reliable source that that is alrleady in the works.

ok, so get an extreme high profile sponsorsihp going with 1 or 2 top placing pro teams, BUT the gun that they are given will have mind controling devices built into the boards. These said pro players will become over filled with joy for their marker, even more so than just a normal one. Every team they beat will be forced to sign a contract of allegiance to FEP, and as teams brake up, and players open stores, and they sell the quest to more customers with more mind contrl devices, eventually building an unstoppable juggernaught of power.

Also what about optional 15 degree ASA peice and a optional 85 degree frame, or a flatter blade trigger? also a HP reg that is adjustible by hand to make the worlds first marker totally adjustible without tools, actually the stock reg is, isn't it? Also maybe a adaptor to move the reg forward or back depending on preferance similer to what you did with the frame? And what if you had like a eye cover that had a small hook attached to the side for a barrel condom? ok i'm out of ideas.....

The first generation of the new Shockers (2003) came with all Delrin bolt kits. They were super light and it sounded like an awesome idea. Too bad that what makes Delrin so slick, also makes it horrible when it comes to sealing up air tight. The old Shockers got HORRIBLE air efficency (3-4 pods off a 64/4500). :tdown:

For the o-rings to seal correctly, they need to be able to seal with the opposite surface, but Delrin is too rough to seal properly. It's why SP moved to aluminum with the both the normal and HE bolt kits. Even then, they are polished/honed to be as smooth as possible.

Have a mini USB port in the back of the grip frame w/ rubber cover that seals it up. So you would be able to download different board software instead of having
to send it back to fep (even though C.S. is superb). i.e. PSP comes out w/ different ramping rules, hook up your Quest to a computer, type in your model number on PSP website click "download" bada-bing, bada-boom you've got the software right there on your board. To filter out cheaters that come up w/ ways to change the modes by themselves, at every tourny or field hook it up to a computer and check their software. If caught banned. I'm open to other suggestions to fix my idea. If thats not outside the box I dont know what is.:D

Make a maintenance DVD or video CD included with the purchase of new Quests. On this DVD have tech videos, paintball videos (of teams shooting Quests), pictures, desk-top wallpapers, music, and other cool stuff like links to forums and websites. If done right you could probably sell it to existing Quest owners also. You could also have another contest for the best videos for the DVD (therefore you wouldn't have to do a bunch of filming). They would make good promos for Cup. More Stickers also. Do a contests for sticker designs.

its MASK like for halloween stuff like wearwolf mask that fits for the different types of goggles or like zombies or power ranger you know the cool stuff(wait did i say power rangers lol) gotta look scary on the paintball field if you no what i mean paintball is 99% intimidating and 1% skill. :P and also make it so the quest is from a speed ball gun into a woodsball gun like beable to put a stock on back and scope and make your own FEP shell that fits halo and empires internals so all you have to do is make hopper shells that are pimped out with cool designs instead of just plain ugly hoppers. and you can make lenses that arent just tinted but there like sunglases were you can see out but people cant see in and have skull on the out side of the lense.

AND FOR THE BEST SAFTY IDEA make the IMPORTANT ball savior otherwise none as the cup make FEP cups fits all sizes lol now that thinking out of the box right there.

Im pretty sure its been done but 4 eyes on the quest. I know its in the new bob long gun but that is just awsome. IF u like the lcd screen idea i would go with a touch screen type deal like a shuffle or something. FEP cleats! Nothing fancy but it was worth a shot

The maintenance part would be small, but you could do the whole manual with board programing, regulator maintenance everything the manual covers. If it was a CD or DVD ROM you could have an Adobe Acrobat file, then the user could print out his on copy. Save a little change on printing. The real cool part would be the extra stuff, FEP could show off their product line, advertisements for related companies products. Cool tunes and paintball videos along with pictures would be the real big part of the video. When FEP sponsors a pro team they could video them playing with the Quest and interview them. All of this could be used for commercials or ads in magazines when FEP decides to do some mass advertising. The ability to update the manual will be cheaper an easier than printing a new one. Some times saving money is just as good as making it. Anyways, I just took some ideas from a couple of posts and expanded on them. It's not that often that a company asks for input from there consumers, nice job FEP. LU aDacK I know you were just playing around, I am just trying to explain it a little better.

Too bad that what makes Delrin so slick, also makes it horrible when it comes to sealing up air tight. The old Shockers got HORRIBLE air efficency (3-4 pods off a 64/4500). :tdown:

Actually, it's due to the fact that the bolt didn't cut off the air flow when the bolt was forward. Every other bolt other than stock cut off the flow of air.

For the o-rings to seal correctly, they need to be able to seal with the opposite surface, but Delrin is too rough to seal properly. It's why SP moved to aluminum with the both the normal and HE bolt kits. Even then, they are polished/honed to be as smooth as possible.

Nah, the o-rings will seal just fine... IIRC, they did have trouble keeping the tolerances tight though. Delrin's size varies slightly with temperature. The redesign to aluminum let them use bumpers on the bolt, something that wasn't done with the delrin bolts.


As for my suggestion, a slightly less crazy trigger guard. It's nice to have the finger space, but I'd rather the reg fitting didn't stick out. More of a change than a great new idea though =\

-If you order quests in bulk, allow the buyer to create a custom anno at discount cost.

-Inculde a barrel bag, allen key set, and stickers with quest.

-Have classes at psp or nppl events so customers can learn how to fix / maintain their quests better. Also you could allow people to become certified techs.

-Allow people that are certified techs to recieve compensation (such as discounts) for helping people fix problems in their area or on pbnation. (not trying to say they break alot but the more people that know how to solve problems the better.) You could have a space on your website of all the people that are certified and give a little info on them.

For example, if my quests breaks and I don't want to send it far away to get fixed, I could look on FEP's site and see if there are any certified techs in my area that could fix it for me.

aight well after shootin the quest i think the best upgrade to it would deffinetly be a thiner grip frame and make the actual grips thinner too they seemed a lil bulky when i was shootin it yesterday. That was pretty much the only semi bad thing i could find with this gun lol

Alright i have a quick idea that might be a long process, but a big payoff.

Okay so we all know the quest is one of the best high preformance markers out there...but not everybody has $925 to spend for paintballing. Also, we all know that the ion is the most manufactured and lowest priced markers out there...well my idea is simple, to combine the quest looks and simplicity with an ion to make a middle grade "questimized" marker thats around $400-500.

You could take the snatch pin, the simplicity of the bolt, a different but quest like grip, the body, trigger, of the quest and take the ion guts and efficiency...to make an outstanding low price marker...

Or, you can make quest parts that can fit the ion. Like lets say make the grip ion accessible and make a sepparate body that can fit the ion. Especially, take the trigger and the snatch pin/bolt.

Not sure about all the copyrights but....its a good idea in my head, let me know what u think!

Smart parts should go out of business so that paintball can grow. They make junk (some of it is ok junk but it is still junk) and other than the ION I would never even recommend any of there products to other people. The ONLY reason I would recommend the ION is strictly because of the price point.

Or just make a whole new gun in general...i just thought it was a good idea cause the ion is a good gun for the money, and if u customize it with more conveniences and add a little bit more of a price i think it would do rlly well...just a thought

I would love to see FEP sponsor a armature team and make them a team gun and promote that team like mad. Passably a few teams. Get the general paintball public wanting to get a sponsorship and get mileage out of that. Possibly the ability to order custom team guns. 5 guns or more with custom ano jobs and sum ups.

I love the idea of the coffin gun case. and the RIP photos of your old markers contest and the design the new grips contest.
