I was wondering if the Am Sentinel was a good marker. When I say good, does it have the range of a coker,is it light,is it better than a spyder.
I also wanted to know if 139.95 for a black Sentinel was a good deal. Its at paintballwarehouse.com.I wanted to run a 3.5 oz tank off it.Would that be ok?

ck out pbreview.com for yourself or browse the board here.
as for the price - be hard to beat - that's about dealer cost w/o 100 pc. discount

Prolly not a good idea to run a 3.5oz tank for any reason tho.

Ok thx.I will probably get the gun this week. Will any sort of sticky or gel styled grips work on the sentinel?I might check out some of the compressed air tanks.

I don't know about everyone else, but the hogue grips on the Sentinel TS feel similar to stickys.

Well thx for the offer crash but no thx.By the way I am getting the black Sentinel, not TS.Are the grips on the base Sentinel any good?By the way.Is it neccesary to get a Freak Barrel. The reason I am asking is I am going to be ordering the Sentinel tommorrow and I wanted to know if the Freak barrel is any good?If not I might just get some sort of quality air sysytem.Thx Guys.;)

The grips on the black one are just plain flat panel grips so sticky grips might be a good idea. I think that the Sentinel TS is a much better deal. Its only $155 at pbgear.com for the sunburst and $180 for other colors and that comes with free shipping. That means that you are getting them for virtually the same price. The TS comes with nice grips, a drop, and amazing anno. Unless you want a sentinel with black anno, the TS seems like a better deal.

The freak isn't necessary. Its THE best barrel system but it is more geared towards tournament players than rec players. Unless you are constantly switching paint types and need to get the most out of your gun its not really worth it. You would be better off spending the money on a high pressure air tank and then IF you need a new barrel you could get a CP or something with a bore size that matches the paint you like to shoot.

Thank you very much Draknes.I am going to get the Sentinel base BLACK.(I want it in black.)Instead of getting the Freak for it really isn't neccisary for me,I will get a nice air system. They have a 45/4500 PMI pure energy tank at pbgear.com .It sais preset 850.Will this tank work on the Sentinel. If so,what do I need to run it on the Sentinel. Thanks for your time.

the 850 psi preset is fine and nothing else is needed to run it unless you want to drop the input down to the sweetspot ( 500 psi )

Thanks Crash for the help.I will be ordering my setup tommorow.I have 370$.If there is any thing else I need please let me know.
By the way,do you work with AM?

Thats a good choice. Another tank that you could look into is the new preset from Air America, found at http://www.airamerica.com/store/product_info.php?products_id=90&osCsid=70bc780af103283265f4887bf13bf6aa .

$150 for a 68/4500 is a phenominal price and Air America tanks are known for their concistency. If its compactness you want, then go for the 45/45 pmi, but the Air America might perform a bit better for around the same price (more per fill too!).

Another alternative that I did not mention is the Palmer Stabilizer. The stabilizer will allow you to run Co2 on virtually any marker. It will give you the concistency and performance of HPA with the high shot capacity and compactness of Co2. The stabilizer utilizes a unique system that allows you to regulate the air (so you can set it to the sweet spot like crash mentioned) while eliminating almost all liquid. You can get a Male (screws in like any other reg or ex. chamber) Stabilizer in black for $88 at countypaintball.com. Link: http://www.countypaintball.com/product_overview.asp?from=products&category=3&subcategory=60

Co2 with a stabilizer isnt quite as good a setup as a high pressure air tank, but it will perform comparably and double as a regulator. Since the sentinel can handle a little liquid co2 (if it happens to pass through the reg), this is basically the cheaper alternative. If you want to go all out, the best setup is a HPA tank with a good reg.

Since you have extra money, you could look into a nice drop for your tank. HPA tanks are pretty big and a drop will help make your gun more balanced.

Get the Vigilante high reg at pbgear.com. It's cheap and is really good, but make sure you dont get the low one unless of course your making your gun low pressure.

I recomend the Air America tank also - Great people and great company.
If your running HPA go for the hi pressure A.A.vigilante - it's all you need on the sentinel
And yes I do work with Action Markers , been ongoing relationship since this time last year.

I heard that you have to get new springs for the vigilante because the out put pressure or whatever from a preset tank is to high. Is that right?

Draknes
12-29-2002, 11:43 PM
I dont think so. You need to get a new spring if you want to have an ouput higher than 450psi on a low pressure vigilante but I havent heard of anyone having troubles with the input from presets...

Crash STP
12-29-2002, 11:51 PM
no problem if you use a hi pressure Vigilante

Crash,I will be glad to stop by your site and write once I get the gun.By the way,a 3.5 oz co2 tank is probably not the best idea but if I were to use a 3.5 oz tank what sort of palmer reg would I need for it and the Sentinel.By the way, how many shots will I get off the Sentinel using a 3.5 oz?Thanks for your time:)

Crash STP
12-30-2002, 01:32 AM
never used one on a sentinel and it's too cold here to give you a good answer but I'll guess at 250 in warm weather.
a 9oz would be a better bet.
If your going for a reg for both Co2 and HPA I'd go for either a vert palmer stabilizer or a CMI R-2000

AoSniper

K thx Crash.Though I still might get the 3.5 .:O

You can get a 47/3000 preset steel and an Air American Messiah regulator (awesome reg) for about 180$ from http://www.actionvillage.com/paintball.html

Thank you very much guys!I am ordering my set-up to day.I am going for the Black Sentinel at pbwarehouse only cause I want to get the 3.5 oz there two.I am trying to spend as low as cash as possible so im ordering both of those from that site.Besides, who else sells 3.5 oz tanks and Sentinels together?
By the way.Can I just screw the 3.5 oz directly into the bottom line?Do I need a regulator right away. The site has a CMI2000 reg but its not in stock. Thanks for all your help.Feel free to help me out more.I need the most help I can get.:D

Draknes
12-30-2002, 01:58 PM
Yes, you can screw it into the bottomline and No, you dont need a reg. The only reason for having a reg on a sentinel is to get it to its sweet spot pressure (500psi). It will work fine without a reg but will work even better with one. I personally wouldn't recommend the CMI reg because it is over priced for the performance that you get out of it. You would be much better off spending the money on a better reg such as a vigilante or stabilizer.

Thank you very much Draknes.I have one more question. Will the Sentinel fit in the REDZ spyder/phirana gun case?I need a case for the Sentinel.I want my gun to stay in excellent condition.

Alexi1337
12-30-2002, 06:28 PM
It should fit, I don't see why not. You could prolly get a hard case for about the same price though
