Here are some pictures of my progress so far at getting a Drallion cocker noid on my quest...

Everything has gone well thus far. I hope it continues to do so. I successfully shot the quest as it was set up in the Electro Test phase. Don't have a chrono reading as I was running out of Air when I thought about it. I get air tomorrow and I'll throw out an update then. oh yeah, it was running just under 40 psi with No apparent drop off @ ~17 bps, even though the bolt doesn't have any lube on it at the moment  . I cleaned it all off just to realize that my teammate still has my lube  . Oh well I'll get all that tomorrow.
On a side note you can see the PTFE rings in one of the pics. They were too hard, for creating a great seal. Might work well if you polish them down a little.

looks like the draillon is a longer noid. that would prevent people from being able to move thier grip frames forward if they wanted to. i think anyway.
oops my bad,i didnt look at the pics right. its a shorter noid isnt it? ill just wait for the update now.

looks kewl... is there a way to do it w/o the rubber bands they look unstable

lol, I'm just using the rubberbands to hold the noid in place while I test everything. I want to be sure it's going to be worth while before I go drilling holes in the body. Yes the Drallion noid is a hair shorter, but it is also a hair taller which I think is going to prevent anyone from making a manifold to put on the body instead of drilling holes. I'm leaving right now to go to the field to test everything. I'll give updates when I get back.

My question.
What are you looking to gain using a "Drallion" noid over a "Quest" noid?

:dodgy: O and its technically a "Matrix" noid because dye/proto has been using these noids since before the quest came out.

:dodgy: lol....Technicaly its an SMC VQZ series solenoid ;)
My quest is running with an lpr pressure of 40psi with no drop off as are several other people. I personly mod guns to help gain performance thats why Im asking what performance increases the "Drallion" noid has over the smc noid the quest uses. Not trying to be a dick just trying to get some info...Im curious

yeah but his gun isn't modded

Yes mine is but the people are running there un mod'd quests with goldmember at 40psi (lpr)
Thats why Im asking HIM what the Drallion SMC SY series solenoid has over the quest SMC VQZ series. Im asking the person doing the mod for a little more info.

well, to answer all those questions, I was trying to see if a the noid would help lower the operating pressure. It did, but only by ~5 psi. Not a whole lot, the lower flow rate caused more of a push rather than a kick (kick is not real noticeable anyway). It has a faster activation time, but that coupled with the dwell remaining the same means that the valve is going to remain open longer causing lower effeciency. My whole project was a wasted effort. I'm just going to put the old noid back on and wait until I find a faster noid with a higher flow. That will probably get the results I want. Fun project despite it being a failure. I should be getting the gold member bolt this week. I'm running at ~50 psi right now.

No project is ever a wasted effort. The more projects and mod's you do the more you learn

Hopefully WAS will come out with one of those new MAC noids with the flow pattern Quests need. Those are some amazing noids.

bronc.....have you used one of the WAS noids yet? Im skeptical about the products WAS puts out. Jim is the KING of HYPE.

I haven't used one yet, but even if WAS did put out some hype, I doubt a larger company like MAC would release false data on the products.
The scope readings and data sheets on it are from MAC. WAS is just making the software to run them correctly and selling them in the paintball market.
I'd love to get one and hook it up to a scpoe myself and see what it does. ;)

I didn't realize the info was from MAC...thought it was from WAS. I would still like to get some input from real world use. Lots of things look great on paper, but turn out to be not so great in a practical aplication.

Ya I totally agree. I think besides the "cool" factor of the WAS/MAC noid, the only real difference a person using it would ever see is the longer battery life.
I mean, SMC noids can go 20+ cps, which is as fast as any marker needs a noid to go. The MAC noid can do like 100 cps or something crazy like that, which is beyond the ability of any real marker to cycle in any event.
Having a few degrees in computer science and working in the R&D field myself, I'm more interested in it for the geek factor, lol :P
