Got my brand new Quest today, and got a chance to mess around with it just a bit, here is my initial impression. I will update once I get some field time.
Out of the box it is much smaller than pics make it seem. The small size of course equates to light weight too. Anno is nice and smooth, except for a blem on the trigger. No mill marks though, which is nice.
Mine came with a snatch, and I also had a goldmember here waiting to drop in. Took it apart, lubed the bolt up, and aired it up. Heard a fairly decent leak coming from the back of the gun. Traced it out to be one of the grub screw plugs. Never got any loctite on it at the factory, put some on, let it sit, and aired back up. No leaks this time. Noticed the lpr was a bit over 100, so I grabbed the allen key from the box to turn it down a bit....key was too big, oops #2 at the factory. Grabbed my set of keys, and turned it down a bit to the 70 psi range. Disabled the eyes, and ripped on it.
Feels like any spool valve to me, in a good way, smooth with no kick. Nice light trigger, very smooth, very fast, even with the eye bypass cap. The trigger is in fact too fast, illegally bouncy actually, going full auto for a full second when I am off the trigger from time to time. Figured the activation point could be adjusted a bit to correct it. Pulled out the right size allen and tried to back out the activation screw. Nope not happening, apparently they did not forget the loctite on the trigger screws. Popped the trigger out and heated the screw up with a lighter a few times until I could hardly touch the trigger, again tried to get the screw to back out...one horribly bent, and one broken key later no luck. The broken piece of the key is of course till stuck in the trigger. Red loctite, and small screws don't mix!
The manual is nice and straight forward. Pieces of macro in the box were an nice touch. The one squirt of Dow in the lube container is laughable, might as well not bother. Extra oring container is a plus. The barrel looks nice, although it seems a bit shorter than my other 14in barrels, but whatever.
Overall, I am impressed that a small company is able to put out such a well thought out product. There are a few QC things that need to be addressed in my mind, but overall very well done. I hope to get it on the field this weekend, and will update soon after I get some paint thru it.
On a side note, anyone know the measurements of the trigger screws? I really want to get them out so I can adjust the trigger, and I think sacrificing them with some needle nose may be the only way.
