Got my brand new Quest today, and got a chance to mess around with it just a bit, here is my initial impression. I will update once I get some field time.

Out of the box it is much smaller than pics make it seem. The small size of course equates to light weight too. Anno is nice and smooth, except for a blem on the trigger. No mill marks though, which is nice.

Mine came with a snatch, and I also had a goldmember here waiting to drop in. Took it apart, lubed the bolt up, and aired it up. Heard a fairly decent leak coming from the back of the gun. Traced it out to be one of the grub screw plugs. Never got any loctite on it at the factory, put some on, let it sit, and aired back up. No leaks this time. Noticed the lpr was a bit over 100, so I grabbed the allen key from the box to turn it down a bit....key was too big, oops #2 at the factory. Grabbed my set of keys, and turned it down a bit to the 70 psi range. Disabled the eyes, and ripped on it.

Feels like any spool valve to me, in a good way, smooth with no kick. Nice light trigger, very smooth, very fast, even with the eye bypass cap. The trigger is in fact too fast, illegally bouncy actually, going full auto for a full second when I am off the trigger from time to time. Figured the activation point could be adjusted a bit to correct it. Pulled out the right size allen and tried to back out the activation screw. Nope not happening, apparently they did not forget the loctite on the trigger screws. Popped the trigger out and heated the screw up with a lighter a few times until I could hardly touch the trigger, again tried to get the screw to back out...one horribly bent, and one broken key later no luck. The broken piece of the key is of course till stuck in the trigger. Red loctite, and small screws don't mix!

The manual is nice and straight forward. Pieces of macro in the box were an nice touch. The one squirt of Dow in the lube container is laughable, might as well not bother. Extra oring container is a plus. The barrel looks nice, although it seems a bit shorter than my other 14in barrels, but whatever.

Overall, I am impressed that a small company is able to put out such a well thought out product. There are a few QC things that need to be addressed in my mind, but overall very well done. I hope to get it on the field this weekend, and will update soon after I get some paint thru it.

On a side note, anyone know the measurements of the trigger screws? I really want to get them out so I can adjust the trigger, and I think sacrificing them with some needle nose may be the only way.

i dunno my trigger has no bounce, and this gun is amazing, even if dye or SP or Eclipse had put it out on the market.

the allen they give you with the gun only fits the pin to take the pin and bolt out. yes a bit annoying if you want it to adjust the regs, but both regs do use the same allen as the other(a plus). and anyone buying guns in this range should have an allen set anyway.
im not sure about the bouncing. i think its really just that stoopid fast. it just jumps right into a rhythm and sounds full auto, but stop pulling and it stops shooting. set on semi auto ive moved my set screws all around to see what happens. even with the activation point out far enough its not even touching the microswitch you can still pull it that fast. just a little harder to keep it up, your rhythm gets a stutter from time to time. ive pulled it super slow to see what happens too. nothing illegal there either. its always a full pull to a shot. ive even tried to compare my pulls to shots by starting slow and then speeding up slowly. hard to tell, its fairly obvious at slower speeds that its one pull/one shot, but once your fingers get any speed(and they always want to go fast) the gun is just ripping, but not like sp guns on ramping(where its "artificial" speed). i recently got my hands on a pm6 with ultralight frame and a speedy board(set on semi supposedly) and roller trigger and was able to shoot it pretty much the same(just didnt have quite as nice a feel to me tho).

i dunno, i think people are just too skeptical of an "unknown" company and want to find whatever they can, even when they like and/or own the product. ive seen "the big guns" at local tourneys, at the local fields, on tv and even a couple magazine reviews and the quest doesnt do anything the others dont and the others dont do anything the quest doesnt.(i think that made sense)

A bit of bounce and a run away trigger are very different things. As I said I could get a "string" going and stop pulling and the gun would CONTINUE to shoot for a full second on semi. Fortunately I had an old trigger screw in the tool box from one of my other various guns that was the same, so alot of lighter action with vise grips and one destroyed set screw later I had it fixed.

Thanks for telling me about the allen key, I only got a snatch pin with mine, no stock, so I didn't think about it being for that only. Yes we all have our own set of keys, but it's nice when there is a set (ala dye/proto) for every thing on gun.

I am not skeptical so much as I am critical, large company or small. I am picky about markers. While the issues I have found thus far are quite small, they are things that bugged me. A non oring leak, and unadjustable trigger out of the box are a pain. Yes I have had plenty of high end guns, and yes most have some issue out of the box. The difference I see here is FEP is small enough that they might actually read this and give a damn. That way once they grow larger and are shipping out quests by the metric ton, these little issues are a thing of the past. A perfect marker out of the box can only help their rep grow.

alright, but still my trigger was very snappy, i couldn't get it to bounce or run away and it took a little getting used to, it wasn't even remotely bounce it had more pull force then any trigger i had ever use before.... i dunno though maybe you get a lemon. but yeah i understand my intimdator has a runaway trigger sometimes.

i havent seen any keep shooting after you let off the trigger before unless they were on 3shot. but they stop maybe a shot after you stop pulling because of the cycle speed. <shrug>

sorry to hear about your trigger set. that sucks. mine were loctited too but not like that. i just needed to give it a firm twist.

i understand about being critical too. i read about the gun last year and was skeptical because nobody around me had one to check out or had even heard of them. a store here finally got a couple in and i got to check it out. and the store tech is a quest tech, so he got into it and told me all about it. thats when i was sold on it. yes those are small issues that youve had and they are a pain, but fear not!, fep does read this forum and frequently responds to posts, because they DO give a damn. read around.. their customer service is incredible.

ACE hardware has all the screws you need in steel and stainless steel, at least my local one did. When I sent mine in to get anno'ed it came back missing a lot of the screws and grubs/plugs. The best think I ever did was getting the new SS ones. They won't strip nearly as easy as the aluminum ones.

I physically took my parts into the store and went through the bins matching up screws and grubs to each hole. About $5 later I had a nice set. That along with some PFE teflon paste and I was set.
