i just got done modifying some s/s screws for my grips cause the closest i could find was 8/32x3/8". the grip screws are 1/4" that come with the gun. had to modify them cause the extra 1/8" made them interfere with the trigger and probably got really close to the solenoid.
also noticed the odd length on the frame screws, front screw being 7/8 and rear being 5/8 long. common 10/32 lengths available are 1/2, 3/4, 1". at least in stainless.
so you cant quite get all the parts for the gun at the hardware store. you can get close, but if you go short they might not be long enough to reach the threads in the hole or catch enough threads to really hold. and if you go long you might have to cut them down. cutting screws down to proper length isnt that big a deal if you know the proper length and your patient with a saw or have a handy dandy dremel tool with a death wheel(like me).
none of the hardware stores carry anything even close to the eyecover screws. THOSE id worry alot about losing. could probably check at mcmaster carr or small parts to see if they can be found there.

If some enterprising fellow wanted they could do like I did for the AKA family and buy a bunch of SS screws(McMaster-Carr ftw!) for the quest, makes SS screw kits with all the screws that are needed in a quest, then sell them for a few bucks to the Family.

Id do it myself but alas I am still not a member of the Quest Family and dont know the proper lengths or sizes for all the screws.

theres an idea gremlin. i still need to look on mcmaster-carr. a few other things i want to look at there too.

physco..... i know what you mean about them getting rusty. it gets hot and huuuuuuuuumid here too in the summer. your just moist all the time(lol, that dont sound right) but i wanted the s/s screws cause theyre pretty and actually look better on my grips cause i have a mainly grey body to them. and would match the other screws as well. hope you wire wheeled those screws before you painted em to get all the rust off. and the red screws would probably look really good on your gun. off topic and aside.......how do you like the redz barrels?

update..... checked my rear frame screw against a 1/2" one i had from a bottomline. its too short. at least for my comfort. it engages the threads but only for about two or three turns. that doesnt make me feel very comfortable about using them to hold my gun together. ill probably check some other lengths and the front screw later if i can find spare screws around of proper length.

i knew about mcmaster-carr already. boss had one of thier catalogs at an old job. usually used it for milling bits and stock. just never really got into it to look see just what all they had. and he usually sent me to grainger for various shipping and cleanup stuff(theres a store locally).

debateable. its fun how much damage you can do with a set of calipers and an equivalents chart tho. but i always thought mcmaster-carr was more industrial/heavy equipment sorts of stuff cause of what my boss used it for. so i learned something.
