Ok, i'm thinking about separating the age groups at my feild. Maybe separating by skill level. It sucks to have guys come out and just totally kill lil kids so bad. I mean overshoot, bunkering a 12 year old sucks. I'm having more people come out here now, so i'm open to suggestions. How about an "entry" level only feild/game(noobs and walk ons). And "skilled" feild/games for tourney players(at own risk). The scenario feilds are all pretty fair. It seems like all the noobs and non-electric marker guys play the hyper-ball feild and village/woods all day- ...and the guys with electric markers hog up the air feilds-ALL DAY. Ideas??....

At our field it depends on how many people show up that day. Take saturday for example. If there's just a few walk ons, we have to put them all together, and then they usually rotate through woods and airball all day b/c the noobs want woods and the walk on electrics want air ball.

If there's enough people, say 20 walk ons at least, we'll split them up by "woods" groups and "air ball" groups. Then they kind of sort themselves out anyway.

Our tournament teams practice on Sunday and it's kind of just a closed group that walk ons can't join anyway so the previous rules above still apply. We don't allow bunkering at all except for the tournament group (duh) or in rare cases where the above "air ball" group all decides and agrees every player that bunkering is okay. So that kind of protects any kids/lesser experienced people who decide they want to take a shot on the airball group.

That probably doesn't help you much but it's what we do =)

this may or may not be helpful for you mailman...

seperating by skill levels would probably be the best way to do it. although on days when you dont have that many players around it could be difficult. on those days youll probably have to mix them.
the problem isnt really the different skill levels tho...its the guys coming out just to shoot up a bunch of newbies and lil kids.(probably because theyve been playing a year or two and made a team with some buddies, saw some dvds and think theyre hot shit... but i digress..)

i play tournies and ill run you down just as fast as anyone else, but when im playing in a group of rec players i turn down my game and use it alot more for practice. work on off hand shooting, loading, seeing as much as i can, talking to other players, things like that.
playing in a rec game there is no need to be mach 3 with your hair on fire. you know your playing kids and theres no need to run up and mug them or light em up. players that do this should be sat out games or ejected for multiple offenses(yes you need to train the refs better). i dont mean someone coming down the field that gets surprised theres someone in a bunker, the kids will do that from time to time, i mean someone that does a deliberate bunkering or keeps shooting when theres obvious hits or the player is trying to get out.
it may seem like a bad idea to sit or eject a paying customer like that, but the lil kid that got bunkered is paying too, and if he gets hurt or decides he hates the game because of it, thats alot more money you lose. it also enforces fairness and safety and shows people that you are serious about keeping things safe and fun and promoting this sport to the next generation. key words there being promoting the sport.
once word gets out that you will do something like this, folks will stop doing it too, so you wont have to be tossing players all the time. the players will clean up thier own act if the consequences are high enough(something that should be applied to the pro level as well). as a private business owner it is your right to deny services to anyone at anytime for any reason you see fit. without refund. if a player cannont control themself, that sounds like a pretty good reason to me, for everyones safety.

i don't know if anyone cares, but bronc.v2 said he's not coming back to pbn after the harassment by some mods. he also said he's working with one of FEPs sponsored teams directly now on his laser eye project and a new LPR mod. he said if someone on that team posted up more info on his mods, it's pretty much the only way it's going to be put on here anymore.

i'm not trying to be a jerk or anything, i just know peeps liked him on here and he did good stuff and i was sad when i heard that. :(

yeh at all of the feilds here the refs always divide the teams up by skill level, so if theres 4 renters 6 woodsballers and like 4 speedballers they will divide it up so each team has equal guns. pretty much the refs use theyre better judgement when dividing up games. but when its realyl crowded we just do the "HIGH-TECH" "LOW-TECH" idea. hightech lines up and lowtech is on deck. unless there is a party then its usually party,lowtech,party,hightech.

That is a damn shame. Bronc was an excellent member. Always willing to lend a hand to anyone, never skimping on a responce. If you have anyway of geting an email address of his I would very much appreciate the ability to stay intouch with him.

In other OT news: today at the feild we found out that bunkers get holes around 320FPS. We caught some "renagade" players on the hyperball(pipe) feild. Dan(employee) called me and blocked the road so they could'nt leave. When I got there, I asked them why they were stealing from me. As you see, playing for free is the same as stealing(as Haser taught me). They scared boys looked at eachother and one looked me straight in the eye and said, "We did'nt know we could'nt do that."

Tour was super awesome. It's real cool to hear all they're doing and how they're keeping the quest a number one marker. They're doing awesome stuff with their factory as well. Everyone should be super excited for next year and at the same time i PROMISE you dont' have to be worried. The quest is still an amazing marker. So much that even after all I learned I'd still consider buying another quest right now today.

The only thing that was disappointing was that the barrel kits were being redone so I couldn't pick one up =( Cole's certainly a perfectionist and I can see why the quest is such an amazing marker =)

Here in the Southwest(NM) Hyperball works great. We get winds out of no-where, and ofcoarse the heat. Spring and Fall are the best time to play, in winter, as long as its not raining=good play. Summers suck due to the heat and I expect not to be so busy during the day. Sun stays up until 9pm...maybe do some night scenario games...we'll see.

Okay, need some opinions. I still can't decide what color barrel kit to get. I have a polished blue quest. I'm debating between getting a polished black, dust black, or dust blue front. Polished black because it's polished (i duh have a blue polished already), or one of the dusts because of the small possibility of a FEP dust marker in my future, 1 or 2 seasons from now =)

What do you guys think? Would a dust front look weird on a polished body? Does a black colored front obscure the cool 007 on the front of the barrel? Blue? Black? Dust? Polish? I hate decisions! heh

Just go simple polished black...easiest match, and cheap to anno if you change your marker later.

Plus you can still use your current gloss blue tip...and the rear gloss backs will match your parts.

CPS got a sponsorship from FEP and they all got custom markers (which look *really* nice in gray and blue dust). I've been working with Aaron and his guys getting them up to speed with them, and do far they are liking them a lot.

haha shitty sp on off, my friend did the same thing to his tank, the sp on off and the reg actually like molded together. i belive he clamped down the tank reg and used a hand clamp to take the sp on off off of the tank.

If the Tanks Empty, take the Reg off the bottle.. then get a Pair of Strap Wrenchs, and go to Town.. if that doesnt work... Get a Vice, Clamp the SP asa.. Unscrew the Fittings off the tank.. and get the Wrench.. your Outcome will be

A- Badly Scratched Crossfire Reg

B- Ruined the Threads of Cross Reg

and Either way, your SP Asa will be Ruined... atleast i would Chuck it....

asa is...always was garbage.....tank is empty, but i cant even get the tank off. I would love to salvage the xfire reg for him..but now looks like the bottle is the hgihest priority.


***On a side note....went to the field today....wow it felt good to play again. I was shooting hellfire, quite brittle. I broke one ball about 1500 rnds in. Cleaned the eyes off, relubed and was flawless the rest of the day......only issue I had was a rising lpr...80-200 if I let the gun sit. Im sure I will fix that....but wow, 684 scepter inset and hellfire was ball on ball...Even in the woods I could see people I longballed...they checked my velocity 2x, 270 274 278 276...lol :tup: for the long ball.

On a side note, FEP now makes their own tank regs. Why don't you send it all into them and have Dale put a quality FEP tank reg on =)

And Lu, the LPR creep is b/c of the bolt or pin orings going bad. Happened to me last sunday at a tourney, 5 minute fix =)

When? Not sure. They had them when I went to visit. It seemed like they were pretty new. The have a LP and a HP tank Reg. And they're really easy to convert between the two, as well.

The reg got cross threaded by the sounds of it. I've had this happen before.

The only way you're going to save the reg is to take a saw and cut the ASA down the middle until it gets lose and you can get the reg out. Even then, the threads on the reg might be ruined. :(

very general off topic rant...... largely for other forums and not too much for this one, but it does still apply here. its also directed more towards the folks that havent been playing longer than 5yrs(cause the older players have been around long enough to know better) it always seems that its the young/newbie/not playing long players. not to mention that theres stupid newbies asking stupid newbie questions(fine), getting answered by stupid newbies(bad). and the guys that actually know what theyre talking about get drowned out or dont even bother anymore because the stupid newbies dont believe them cause what they say is different to what they believe.

can we PLEEEEEEAAAAASEEEEEE put an end to all these "whats better/whats the best" threads... not just in here but throughout all of pbn. yes, i realise thats asking alot with the proliferation of dumbasses that cant read or are too lazy to bother, but it is waayy out of hand on soo many forums.
folks need to realise that there is no answer to "whats the best". it all depends on what your looking for, what you want to pay, and what your personal preferences are.

whats the best hopper?... one that works! doesnt matter if its gravity feed or drop tests at 45 bps... if it doesnt work its not worth shit. if the one you have works fine.....theres no need to fuckin change it.
whats the best barrel?... one that fits your paint! doesnt matter if its a stock barrel or 120 dollar carbon fibre. if your paint doesnt fit, its going to perform for shit. and dont even start about overboring... if your paint is that crappy or that brittle.....you should probably change your paint. "the pros overbore"... they can afford to! they dont buy their paint, YOU do!(meaning YOU buy THEIRS AND YOUR paint) if the paint doesnt make it out of your barrel its not worth using no matter how much it cost or what team uses it.
whats the best kit?.. the one with the most bores that you actually use! if you only use one or two kinds of paint, you can probably get away with only having one or three different bores. if you always use different kinds of paint and its TOTALLY random, the most bores to fit it will be the better kit to have.
whats the best tank/reg?.. one that holds enough air to get you through your average game or two. if you only shoot 500rnds a game a 45/45 is plenty. if you shoot closer to 1k, youll probably want a 68. what feels good on your gun? is a 45/45 too short? is a 45/68 too long? try different rails or mounting options. how good is the recharge rate?(kind of moot, but still a question to ask) if your tank reg wont keep up with your guns rof, the rest of your set up wont either.
whats the best harness/pack?.. this one is entirely personal preference and how much you want to spend. you want to carry as much paint as you either a)use in a game or b) as much as your tank/gun combo can shoot out of a full fill.
best jersey/pants/pads..... the ones you like the look of the most! get your heads out of your asses and read the sizing charts or think about what size you wear in normal clothes and go a size bigger. read the goddamn care instructions on the label! if you cant find/read the label.......hand wash/air dry. its not fuckin rocket science. some clothes have better padding than others, but if your relying on just those for your diving you deserve to get hurt. if your going to throw your body around that much, invest in PROPER padding and protection. what pads are best... ones that offer the padding YOU feel comfortable with. what size......ask the damn manufacturer.
best gear bag?..one that you can fit all your shit into! pretty damn simple!
best goggles?... ones with good certified lenses and full face/ear protection. take your pick on how much you want to pay or how they look.

and finally, whats the best gun out? whats better, this or that gun?... this one is THE MOST personal preference question there is. your talking about differences in operating styles, weight, maintenance, durability, price, and your own playing habits. play once a month or so, a tippy or spyder or ion should do you just fine and save you money. play regularly and are somewhat serious about your paintball you want a higher end gun. generally something close to the high end. if your very serious about your paintball and do play tournies or a high level game... you want a tourney level gun like a quest, dm, pm, timmy, angel, shocker, yada yada. which one in particular depends entirely on your own preference and what you are looking for and how much you want to pay. some folks like the feel of spool valves, some like poppit valves better. some want the smallest thing they can get, some dont care. some want something light as can be, some want something a little heavier. some want to be able to upgrade the bejeezuz out of it, some want it to be perfect(or as close to) out of the box.

there is no such thing as "the best" anything. it all depends on what you as a player want, need, can afford and prefer. whats the best this or that for you may not be the same as it is for another person, because everyone has different wants needs and desires.
