View Full Version : whats so special about the quest?

Ok, a local shop of mine is thinking about marketing the Quest as a specialty marker of theirs (no one else locally has ever even touched one). The only problem is, none of us has ever even seen or touched a Quest. whats the selling points of them? what makes them stand out from other markers?

This may sound wierd but when I held the only quest I have ever held it seemed very balanced and the stock trigger is really nice.

Well, Quest, unlike other spools, are very efficient. They are easy as hell to clean and lube (2 pice bolt). They are fast, shoot straight.. have a sick board and Trigger stock. Not to mention Customer Service!
What's not special should be your question! :)

pretty much what these guys have already said... its very light(like a shocker)...good efficiency(~1500 shots to a 68/45)...well balanced and feels great(subjective and hard to describe other than it has a "good feel")...easy easy easy maintenance w/2pc bolt/pin(you have to take it apart to truly grasp and understand how simple it is. and only 6 orings)...the trigger is a factory roller trigger, amazingly smoooooooooooooooth and light with no slop or jigglyness and even with the out of box factory "long pull" it rips strings quick and easy...the board it comes with has psp/nxl/semi modes...FACTORY break beam eyes(not reflective eyes like most and the break beam are an upgrade)...the stock barrel is a very nice two piece .689 with different backs becoming available soon, and its cocker threaded so you can use any cocker barrel you want. and the customer service is by far the best ive ever heard of. it really is a tourney ready well upped gun straight out of the box. no upgrades necessary. for the price and performance it is my opinion that it is very difficult to find something better.
to find out more about things with this gun and little complaints read thru the posts. most complaints are very very minimal and most probs are easy to fix. and if they are somewhat serious, again, excellent customer service, just call them up or send it in.

and is the customer service as good as B.L.A.S.T.? (intimidator) I love the BLAST service....

Its light, its fast, its easy to maintain, it shoots a paintball at 300fps just like every other pb gun, and is an efficient spool valve. You decide from there

FEP's customer service is awesome. Just search around and you will find everyone has been quite happy with the service they have gotten. I have read about week turn arounds, fep's staff have offered to let people come down to the factory and build there own questes with factory staff showing them what to do.

its just as good as any other high end gun ive come across. theres other folks here that are "more enlightened" about performance of other guns and whatnot and quite a large number of them have stopped buying guns every other month since getting the quest. for the money you get alot of things that are upgrades on other guns stock with the quest. you also get rediculously easy maintenance for cleaning and lubing. i cant say how their customer service compares to that for a timmy... ive never had a timmy. but read thru the posts and youll see things from the guys at fep on here helping folks out as well as bein available by phone. other folks can tell you how good thier service is

Service is outstanding, out shoots every gun out there, light, efficient,no kick, quiet but also the support only sponsored guys usually get. Its your decision but when you have a question or problem with any other gun I highly doubt you will be treated the same. There actually a company you can trust.

well this is leaning me towards a Quest myself, and towards supporting my local shop on the idea of ordering some Quests to their main line of guns
how personal is the customer service? i mean is it like you can talk with the guys in ease, or do they treat you like another customer? (which is expected)

Some of the FEP guys frequent this forum, which is really nice. When you call them on the phone, they are very easy to talk to and are very helpful. I can only think of one company that might have better customer service and that is CCI (FEP is almost as good, if not just as good).

lmmfao lu. thats not right. funny, but not right. the folks at fep go out of thier way to help owners figure out any problems they may have. NOBODY has ever complained about the service they get from fep. and they do alot of stuff out of thier pocket other companies would charge you for. they REALLY WANT YOU TO BE HAPPY with thier product.

First the Co. There are currently 5 people in this endeavor in varying positions. All five have been in paintball for many years and have a lot of experience in the industry. One of those is Chris Cole. He's been playing forever, and has designed many items already on the market that most people don't even realize. Dave Palmer,”CEO” he has been in the industry for about 15 years and is well known on the west coast under Urban Quest Paintball. Neil Penney, on the leading edge of the electro-pneumatic revolution with Bob Long that overtook paintball in the early 2000's. Steve Powell, “CFO” and tournament player/Business man. John Landis, head mechanist with 15 years in the paintball industries.
Let me give you a few facts about the marker from a better standpoint, and a more realistic view.
Ok, rate of fire. Is it going to shoot fast? YES. Is it going to outshoot the other 5 high-end markers on the market? NO. Most every high-end marker on the market cycle at a max of around 40ms, and is limited by the solenoid. Our solenoid is capped at around 23bps. So in turn this marker with this setup will not shoot above 23bps.
Size & Weight. Is it small and light? YES. Is it as small as a cap gun, and light as a feather? NO. It's made of metal. Just as all the other high-end markers on the market. It will not be a pound lighter than another marker on the market. It *might* end up 2 or 3 oz's lighter than most of the other high-end markers but not some crazy lightweight. Again it will "compete" with the lightest markers on the market.
The main selling features of the marker are what we (with many years in the industry) feel the consumer wants.
Things like...Maintenance. Kick. Speed. Size. Weight. Aesthetics. Simplicity. Comfort. Reparability. Efficiency. Quality. Cost. Consistency. Ease of use.
Every high-end gun on the market has a couple of things going for it, but lacks in other areas. What we've tried to do is make a marker that is on top or equal to the best on the market in every category.
This marker hits a lot more marks than most, and really hits the important ones.
It will be one of the lightest and most comfortable markers. It is so easy to work on and repair; only a couple of o-rings require maintenance. It has absolutely no kick at all, and produces a very flat and consistent trajectory. It will be one of the most efficient markers out. And it is so simple to use most every newsier can shoot it right out of the box.
It's simple we have a quality product that we think people will like. Some people will like it and some will not. That's the way it is. We will try our best to please as many customers that we can.

pimper....sorry you had to repeat that post again, but it seems some folks just wont ever get it. and the main selling points according to what you think the players want....... you have MOST DEFINITELY HIT! in particular the maintenance, size and weight and the trigger. the rest is somewhat arguable.

FACTORY break beam eyes(not reflective eyes like most and the break beam are an upgrade)
Do MOST guns come with reflective eyes? That's news to me. Smart Parts and cockers use reflective eyes.
What else? Timmy's, Angels, Ego's, DM's. Seems to me MOST guns come with breakbeams...
I'm all for the good qualities of the Quest. I like the gun, and think it's great, but it doesn't need to be needlessly hyped.

Its funny you mention that when you talk to them that its like talking to friends or family members. When I call, they call me by my first name and bend over backwards to help me keep my customers happy. I mostly deal with Richard and Neal and when I met Richard for the first time for lunch, after 5 minutes it was like I had balled with the guy forever. Easy going, filling me in on what the paintball scene is like in the US, and laughing over the differances in our countries over a couple of beer. Its what I liked about paintball when I first started playing in 1990; there seems to be a comraderie and bond that this sport brings to the players ( old school at least) regardless of where they're from. The guys at FEP keep that comraderie alive and kickin with their customer service; like you're part of the family.
PS - Haser. I couldn't figure out why I was so happy yet tired when I got home. I forgot that alchohol and T3's aren't supposed to be mixed together. Hehe ;-)

David, dude, you've got me sold. Just from the stories from your customer support....
now aside from customer support, can anyone give me any good selling points on the gun itself? I'm sorry if I'm asking alot of questions, but like I said before, I'm researching for my local store and myself on this gun. If its good enough, the store and the team members of the team it sponsors will pass up Timmys and use Quests. Like, is there any specific stories or comparisons that anyone can tell me?
Pycho- lol dude if that story is 100% true, thats amazing. i'm about to shit a brick.
pimper/david- I just read a guy talkin of you repeating your post to people ignorant of the Quest. Sorry about that.... this is probably my first time on this forum. I want to make sure my money is going to get something good in my hands ;) .

oh shnapps thats a tough one.. a freind of mine had one of the older gen fs... the one right b4 the pro came out... and i loved the gun... absolutely no kick... shot just like a trix only half the size and wieght... i was sold but the pro was havin so many problems with the quev's i ended up with a proto... now that they are on the fs8 it sounds like they've solved the terrible effiecency probs... and its cheaper than the quest... very very tough decision

I am also deciding between these guns, plus an 06 Proto. I had an 05 Proto. The thing with freestyles and Protos is they upgrades. Freestyle's need an aftermarket reg, board and lpr for them to really be smoking. Proto's mainly just need a new board, maybe something for the bolt for effiency. With the Quest, you really don't need to worry about any upgrades.

mitcheal... i didnt mean to be rude to you...just that the same post pretty much is up in the stickies i believe. ultimate sticky.... under questions answered. as you can see tho, people here are happy to try to answer any questions, lord knows ive asked some silly ones myself, just the stickies are there so everyone isnt always asking the same question over and over.
you guys deciding between other guns and the quest... i cant help you with the ICD guns, ive never shot one. i dont even want to try a pm6 now that i got the quest. i had an 05 proto and i didnt like it. too tall and i couldnt work the trigger to save my life. the quest trigger just rrriiiips. easy as pie right out of the box(with the factory "long pull") i can pull strings with the quest on semi better than i could a shocker with ramping on. that by itself would sell me on the gun. add in the small size and simplicity of lubing and its almost perfect. and of course the awesome customer service.
