ok I have been playing with a quest for several weeks, that was not mine I liked the way the gun operated, shot, and so on so I purchased one which me buying a gun that was not a bob long was a stretch for me any way. Played my first tournie with it today and I had to remove the bolt 2 times to clean and relube because it was all gummed up and started dropping off. I have buna orings on it. what is the deal this fixed the problem but I do not want to have to do this every time I use it. so whats the word FEP on correcting this.

I had the exact same problem, in hot weather I use dow55 and in colder I used dow33. When I used dow55 in the colder weather it started to drop after three pods, so I used 33 and it worked the rest of the day. Yesterday I shot a case never relubing with 55 in 85 deg weather.

Yeah like is said in a lot of threads replace the middle bolt oring with an 017 Urethane and that will clear up most of the black gunk you see.
I usually relube every 3/4 to 1 case depending on when I find a lull in the game

CALL FEP! thease markers are way too simple. If you need the urethane o-ring call them I am sure they will help. I know for a Fact that Hater Sauce is the factory recomended Lube. Dow55 will still work, but Hater Sauce, although stinky, will stay where it is put much longer that dow55 because of the pore penetrating propertys of the Hater Sauce. It is also likley that you are overlubing the marker. This marker is not designed for gobs of lube. Just put a thin layer of lube on it. if you over lube it you will gunk it up and slow the marker down. I am telling you guys this marker is the simplest marker to keep functioning correctly. Have you read the manual? there are only 2 parts to the bolt system! The guys at the shop are awesome and will help you with any problem. I can say from experiance FEP is a great company and their customer service is second to none.
Need to look at the manual again? http://www.pbnation.com/showthread.php?t=1443554

I agree with the simplicity of the marker I am aware of how to correct it when it happens the problem for me is I can shoot 10 cases through my timmy before I have to remove the ram to clean and relube. I do not want to take the bolt out every other game to clean and relube it.

This is NOT normal for a Quest I reccomend you call FEP they will help you fix the problem right away. anyone who owns a marker can complain about problems with their marker. the real question is what have you done to correct the issue you have. It apears that you know how to relube and replace o-rings but what you are experiancing is not normal. FEP cannot help you until you call them. If you own a quest you should never hesitate to call them about anything. For that matter if you are anywhere neer Ventura, California their shop is in Oxnard Go drop by and check out their shop.

im a newbie quest owner so take what i say with a grain of salt..... but you should be able to go every other case before relube. some do it sooner some dont. and even with that much relubing its so easy to do it i cant see why itd be a problem...you should be able to find the time somewhere during your day to do it. however it does sound unusual that your having those kinds of problems and should take advantage of fep's great customer service to see if they can help you. over the phone or if all else fails send it in. being a new owner im curious about all this kind of thing just in case it happens to me. id like to know what finally fixes it.

I agree......dow is just too thick to work well on the quest. It's just bunches up and leaves the surfaces "dry" for lack of a better word. I use the honey and never have any trouble. Also don't run the dwell too low. Although the quest can run unusually low dwell for a spool based gun.......a low dwell will cause you trouble should your bolt start to go a little dry. Keep it higher and that will help.

mine has real bad lubing issues
i can't shot a full tank of air

if you're getting sudden drop off.........it's probably not a lube issue. Your dwell is too low, your battery is too dead, your air supply isn't keeping up, your barrel is too tight for your paint or one of your inner orings may be too tight or swollen. If your grease is gone after only shooting a tank of air, your probably not putting enough on.
Personally I like to spread a thin coat on all the metal surfaces the orings slide on. Just enough to make it wet. Next I apply a decent coat on EVERY oring, inner and outter. You basically want to see grease on the orings and on each side of the oring(so it gets lube in both directions).

I shoot 2-3 cases a practice and I don't need to relube at all.
