What's the Raiders' thoughts on Kyle Stahl caught on camera (by DerDer) whipping a goggle hit during the PSP Texas? Do the Raiders condone cheating? Was this incident caused by Lasoya's "assassination?"

Nothing caused the Lasoya assassination except Lasoya's stupidity. We've all seen videos of Markus Neilson getting his lid shot and then just snapping it shut an staying in. Players wipe or play on, there are penalties for that. But there is no penality in the rule book for being an f'n tard, which is exactly what Lasoya is for those antics. Forget if its good for the sport or not. Think of Kyle's safety. Yes, he knew the risks when he stepped onto the paintball field but this is not what we sign up for. Players get shot, and it hurts, and we manage to deal. However, thats an indirect result. Paintballers go out there to shoot the other guy, not to hurt him. Lasoya deliberately tried to hurt another player. In America, thats called assault, and is punished by jailtime.

pro players are also pro cheaters...
thats what it comes down to.
most players cheat, weather its a quick wipe or playing on or running to a diff bunker when the ref comes for you.

I don't think you should put the Raiders on the spot like this. Doing it wasn't entirely right, but you calling them out is even worse, IMHO. You're puting the raiders in a position where no matter the answer, they're going to have to choose a side.

First off, my question/comment was directed to any Raider's player; not for the div 3 5-man players to comment on. I was curious as if this attacks the moral of the team as everyone has now seen Doc's/Miami Raiders cheating. Yes, I know everyone has whipped a hit once, but to do it during a tournament and in xball takes some real balls and skills (as we've seen). I personally favor the Raiders and I know all the players are top-notch. It would have been nice to hear at least one of the players to admit that that was wrong. I know from personal experience that there is a lot of hate going on down in Florida between teams and during practices everyone is called a cheater.

If these players consider themselves "professionals" at this sport they should at least act like it.

u freakin tard, holliday(strangeholliday) has been playing with the raiders all season. and u must be one of those d3 5man players not to no that the raiders cheat way less than most the teams in the nxl. also the clip was of when kyle was on the d1 team

It would have been nice to hear at least one of the players to admit that that was wrong.

So, you are saying that you won't be satisfied until a Raiders player admits they're wrong? Even if it means going against their beleifs? According to Matty Marshall, cheating is part of the game. However, you insist to be angry because the players of the team don't conform to your idea of right and wrong....? Also, if you wanted an apology or someone to admit it was wrong, why didn't you ask for it, rather than asking for their thoughts.

Just curious...

Last weekend my d3 team played costigan while he was practicing with a d1 team. His team was up on bodies 7-5 and poo got to his bunker wiped a gog hit right in front of the ref and got a 3 for 1. He continued playing like nothing happened. In the long run, cheating doesn't help, because we ended up beating them with 4 alive.

I couldn't disagree with you more on this. When a player cheats he takes a risk. Wiping is a major penalty in the NXL. I think the result is a 5 minute penalty, I actually think it can be harsher than that but I can't tell you exactly. That penalty can cost a team the entire game, it's a risk you take, just like holding in football. As far as I'm concerned as long as the players equipment is within the legal limits of the rules then anything goes unless the refs are in on it. Not every player in the NXL wipes, some are aware of the risk and don't feel the need to take it. I'm sure any player who looses an entire game for his team will not be appreciated, and many would consider them a poor player.

My own personall limits are playing on with pack hits and shots in the stomach area that can be wiped just by playing the game normally. Pack hits are unobvious and won't incure a penalty.

The people I don't appreciate are players like Markus Nielson. If he didn't cheat he wouldn't be on a pro team, and at this moment he isn't on an American pro team.

All I ask for is fair refs who give their best effort to make the right calls in an unbiased manor. But if I catch a wiper I'm giving him a couple extra when I get him dead to rights.

I dont understand all the fuss.. If your not cheating your not trying. Ever heard that people cheat so what I like what someone up there said. Did you post this question in every team section ? We will have to deal with cheaters in this sport its part of paintball like fieldgoals are part football... No matter how many times a Raider gets caught wiping though I still got mad love. Sorry for ranting but the new I think PGi has a guy from Joy with a orange hit smeared across his goggles still playing on.. I wonder what was gong through his head I wonder if Joy condones cheating.. You think??

Were you even on the field?

You didn't win with 4 alive, we won.
Poo wiped because everyone was watching him. He looked at everyone watching before he wiped. He did it for the shock factor.

But ya, Poo is good at what he does and I guess cheating does help.

Wiping is part of the game, wiping brung on bonus balling, which brung on shooting peps in the grill at 15bps! Get good paint, thick fill and mow fools, then they wont wipe!!! And if they do, give em' some extra love, I don't condone cheating, but I do condone field justice, what happen to Kyle was BS, Lasoya should have just let it go, but of course the Raiders have picked up some stupid and from what I have seen invalid rep for cheating, and heck they are rookies in the NXL Chris was being a bully, oh yeah what team is Chris on the week? People do it, sometimes they get caught on tape, or on ESPN2 who cares, buy paint, shoot peps!!!

First off, it was a hot wipe. Smooth as Chinese silk. The clip doesnt even do it justice. The video shows the ref come in and look at whats left just do nothing about it. Was he right to wipe, who cares, you wont ever stop it in this sport or others. How many NFL linemen made there career by holding instead of blocking. All you can hope for is decent reffs covering the field and even then its possible. We do our best. So Silky Smooth heres your shout out. As far as Lasoya goes, even if it had happened in the same match(or year or division you moron that started this thread) there is no justice handled by players on field. Lasoya got a match misconduct for his emmy winnning move(same if the wipe had been caught btw). But to throw this on Docs to choose is retarded, those guys bust there a** out there as the semis and even more so the 3rd place game showed. Way to play this weekend guys. One of the top improved teams at Texas, you played like champs.

no you shoulnt wipe... and b-ball players shouldnt touch the guy's hand they are stealing the ball from... and hockey players shouldnt fight... baseball should ban anyone uses steriods... nascar should ban for life anyone who bumps... death!... thats what can happen in car races when illegal bumps occur, but it still happens. we just shoot little balls full of paint at each other... its not a big deal... it's not that important weather someone cheats or not.

this stuff happens, its part of sports... or we would just go by the honor system.... (can you see any sport working at a pro level w/out rule enforcment?) & those of you that think its only the pros are dreaming... go to any local tournie & see just as much or more cheating. if you dont cheat... good for you, good luck winning in the pros as well.

While I appreciate all the Raider fans who have supported the team in this thread and generally I think offthewall asks a fair question, whatever his reasons. So I'm gonna give it a fair answer:
Paintball has rules like any other game or sport and any player who circumvents the rules in order to succeed deserves whatever the appropriate penalty is for breaking the rules. Do players, at every level, still risk the consequences of breaking the rules in order to win? Sure they do.
The real question is how you choose to judge it. Is it really a question of morality? Everybody makes that call for themselves but I can guarantee you any Raider whose actions damage the whole team is in serious trouble.

Beyond that teams and players need to keep in mind their's and their team's reputation and the more filming that goes on the more this kind'a stuff will have wide play to the public.

04-27-2006, 06:16 PM
This is all shenanigans. People do not go crazy over sports games when people get various penalties. People make bad moves in other sports and its called a penalty. In paintball we call it cheating. He mad a bad move and didnt get caught by the ref, same thing happens with football or other sports. Players make bad moves, sometimes they get caught sometimes they dont. The team shouldnt be frowned upon because someone made an illegal move and was not called on it.

By the looks of it, it seems like they were having a frustrating day. When you have been trying your hardest ot get that 40 grand, and all you get individually is beatdown after beatdown, and you just one to stay alive for one point, you will cheat, no matter how much you tell yourself not to. Frustration leads to cheating, if he was mowing people and getting 3 kills per point, he probably wouldn't have cheated, becasue he would have left the field satisfied. Cheating is a part of every sport, people just don't see it the saem way in other sports. No one calls football players cheaters if they have a false start, or an illegal hit, or pass interference, it is just part of the game.

well since it has been brought back to the surface, I'd like to point out that the lasoya assassination and the wipe thing were 2 entirely different events. I'm pretty sure a few people were trying to say that earlier. But just so you can investigate for yourselves, look at the jerseys. In one of the clips, stahl is wearing a smart parts raider jersey. In the other, hes wearing the animal jersey.

He does manage to wipe it clean, except for a tiny bit. The ref comes over to investigate, and Kyle talks his way out of it. That is the part that is ninja. In that instance what do you say? "It came off the bunker ref!" or "I shot him first". Either way forcing a ref to make his own decisions allow you to slip through the cracks now and then. Good job Kyle.

The shot to the back of Kyle's dome piece is Lasoya's way of trying to make Kyle scared the next match they play. I don't know Kyle personally so I don't know if this worked, but since the Raider's stepped up to NXL they'll have the pleasure of shooting at Trauma some point or another. If I was Kyle, and I saw Lasoya talking the walk, I'd give him the hard good bye about ten times. Just enough were he doesn't get in trouble.
