Hey all,

I was wondering if anyone has/can use LIQUID white lithium grease to lube their internals? IE. the spray kind?

The manual says not to use petroleum based greases in the gun, and my spray says it contains petroleum distillates.

Anyone able to help?

Yeah, don't use it. Petroleum deforms and eats o-rings. I don't grease my ram any more anyway. Whenever I would clean my gun I would find dirt, sand and other crap stuck in the grease and I know it was eating up the inside of the ram when in cycled. Now I just use regular paint gun oil on it. After cleaning I oil the bolt, the striker, pump some inside the holes in the ram, and then I take the cap off the bottom of the regulator and pump in more then enough for the whole gun. I gas it up and cycle the gun about 100 times or so to make sure the oil gets worked through the reg, selenoid, valve, and AOC real good. Grease is just a dirt trap, oil is much cleaner, no matter what the manuel says. A lot of people have trouble with inconsistancy in the stock regs, but mine works great. The consistency is as good as my palmer stab., plus it looks better on the gun. I guess keeping the reg oiled is the key to keeping the reg happy.

The problem with using only oil in your gun is that oil settles over time(due to gravity). That's why you should use grease in your ram rather than oil....to make sure it stays lubed all over. I suggest using the white lithium grease in a tube or tub. Not the spray on kind. All that dirt the grease seems to collect is the same dirt that's in there when you oil the gun....it's just not as noticeable. You're still better off with dirty grease than clean oil in the ram. Personally I clean the grease out every 4 or 5 times I use the gun and replace it.
You should still however run paintgun oil through your reg and air passages once in a while too.....it just keeps everything running smooth. As far as the bolt....a light coating of oil(use your finger to spread it) is fine, since you'll clean your bolt often enough that the oil won't get a chance to settle. Don't grease the bolt.

Well, I went to another hardware store to see what they had, and they had only BLACK lithium grease in solid form.

I would use it, but i am hesitant. It says it contains petroleum.

Is this safe to use? or does ONLY grease, white lithium grease and dow 33 work?

does white lithium grease not contain petroleum or something?

will black lithium grease eat up orings?

the pertolium is what eats orings. if it has that, it will eat orings

I use a clear silicone paste. It han be found in the plumbing section at a hardware store. It is what is recommended for Tribals.
