how much would it be to purchase the remaining backs if you already own a quest and its first back/tip?

will the quest come with all four bores?
There will be an option to purchase the full kit with the gun for an additional fee. I'm not sure how much more though.

Well you be putting out other threads for people who don't have the FEP Quest yet and don't plan on buying it for a little while and would like one of the best barrels around for there non-quest marker?

.696! what.... i think there should have been .685, .687, .690 and then .693.. but thats just my 2 cents :P
Is there going to be different color choices, like more then just black backs?

meatloaf what about those of us who have a back and a tip already since we purchased a quest? do we really have to buy a full kit?
Maverick_1369
01-24-2006, 09:22 PM
nah dude, there is like no reason to ever shoot a .685 or a .687
.690, .93 and a .96 thats an awesome set right there
papaintballer15
01-24-2006, 09:38 PM
theres small bore paint that .685 would come in handy for. Look at UL's they have like 3 bores, one small, 1 medium and 1 large.
.696 is pointless, thats huge. .693 is big for most paint and thats about the largest u need.
When i had my 2 freaks i used .687 and .691 the most.
Maverick_1369
01-24-2006, 10:55 PM
Even then, there is no need to match paint. Overbore, ask around with the pros see how many of them shoot less than a .693. Ive heard of pros using up to a .70 barrel
papaintballer15
01-24-2006, 11:09 PM
with open bolt guns i think .691 is about all u need really. Kits are good for closed bolt so u dont get ball roll outs. Paint to bore matching i personally think is over rated, but its still nice to have a kit. .687 .689 .691 are my 3 fav. and most used bores.

Just curious, what makes these "one of the best barrels around"?
Maverick_1369
01-25-2006, 12:47 AM
doesnt matter for either, cuz almost none except cockers are even closed bolt anymore, and no DM's are not
all i shoot is .693, and so do a lot of pro teams.

Umm, my Shocker is closed bolt.... :dodgy:
Maverick_1369
01-25-2006, 01:19 AM
no, its not, unless its an old school shocker, which its not
closed bolt guns have the bolt forward at rest, not back, which the shockers are back
open bolt gun, just because it doesnt have the bolt visable doesnt meen its closed bolt

.696! what.... i think there should have been .685, .687, .690 and then .693.. but thats just my 2 cents :P
Qft, .696 is just stupid. A .682 or similar would be very useful for reball practice.
Just curious, what makes these "one of the best barrels around"?
Well i was shooting ball on ball when i used it on ghosts quest, even after the famed chop:dodgy:

I do agree with having a real small bore for like reball training though, that would be nice

jeffreyjames
08-21-2006, 01:49 AM
sounds like a great kit since it skips over the "stock" bore size back. and theres plenty of paint that is small bore and even more that is large.
im afraid i dont understand all the folks that are into "overboring" because "the pro teams do it". the best way to get your paint to shoot straight and "far" is to match your paint to your barrel. if you shoot crap paint that isnt consistant, then i could see it so that you have room for the oversize stuff, but your undersize stuff will flutter around and be slower(because more air is getting around the ball instead of sending it down the barrel).
and from what i can gather, the pros do it because they use such fragile paint. "tourney" paint is not as consistent in size but breaks super easy. two reasons to have a larger bore.
95% of players arent going to use anything near that fragile, so should do whats right and match thier paint to barrel.
folks need to stop looking at what everybody else is doing and do what works for them and actually makes sense in the physical world(i.e. scientifically). be it a particular gun, or paint, or harness, or some other stupid thing. DO WHAT WORKS FOR YOU!
papaintballer15

.690 and .693 is all i use on my hammerhead. And im shooting .688,.89ish paint. dont notice any difference when using the .688 back.

edit- like for example how you can buy an evil pipe kit or you can just buy the fronts and/or backs seprate..

personlly i just want a 16'' tip. but i guess if i have to buy the barrel kit i will do it. considering that a dye ul kit is 220 and thats the only other barrel kit that i would buy.
NYGuardians capt.
09-02-2006, 11:37 PM
the dye UL kit isn't even worth it, the 007 barrel is so much better, i had a dye UL on my dm5. dye stuff is over-rated, cp barrels perform the same and they cost less.
USMarine928
09-02-2006, 11:47 PM
idk man i prefer the ultralite to any other barrel except the 007 i was very impressed with it.
NYGuardians capt.
09-02-2006, 11:55 PM
i've tried a large range of barrels and you might as well keep that pipe kit it'll shoot the same as the UL barrel, just not as light. all high-end barrels essentially shoot the same, except the 007 allows you to shoot with no front.
KRaven
09-03-2006, 12:16 AM

gremlin75
09-03-2006, 02:28 AM
I finaly gave up on waiting for this kit and just bought a deadlywind whisper
Once the 007 kit gets released I still may buy one though. I just wish I would come with some smaller bores as most of the stuff I shoot is tiny

idk ive always been impressed with the ultralites preformance, the pipe is nice but i dont liek the looks and i havnt used it since i bought it. i bought it because it was a steal, now i cant get rid of it:crash:
like i said im only looking to buy one complete barrel from fep so im hoping they will sell individual barrels, i only want a 16'' tip and a .693 or a .691 back, none of that other mumbojumbo.

Quest rocks with the 16" freak on it! My stock back on the 007 was .696- I feel just too big, and I like the 16 from the back of the field.
rich/dave etc.. we need to be able to order just backs, or backs PLUS a different front lenght (12" or 16") Just my 2 cents!

Today was the first kinda cool day in Baltimore. In the 60's. And the paint i usually shoot was TINY. it was bouncing around a ton in my 689 barrel =( My paint couldn't fly straight worth a dang. I'd be better off throwing it hehe.

it was a dm5 and its not mine anymore my old team made me get a shocker... i have a quest timmy and shocker, the timmy is getting ups on it at the medford store and i'm busy modding the fuck outta the shocker. so only my quest is working, but i'm selling both my timmy and shocker when they're done so i can buy a second quest lol. for the record i got the timmy for like 275 off ebay because it needed a new cupseal, and it came upped so it was well worth it.
