View Full Version : Illusion Pump and Freak barrels...

I love my Illusion pump, it's real smooth and shoots very well (also very gas efficient!)

There's only one thing marring my enjoyment and that's that I can't use my new style SS freak on it because it binds slightly on the pump handle. Old style cocker SS freak backs work fine but SP changed it and the new one is a larger diameter (also not convinced on SP holding tolerances...)

So I suggest releaving the next batch of pump handle slightly more to allow them to fit the new freak backs.

I'm thinking of trying to sand mine larger or something... any suggestions?

Point taken -- we will do what we can to make the handle fit all aftermarket barrels in the future. For now, any way is really equal in widening it. We generally throw things back onto one of our lathes to do something like that, but that's not nomally an option for most people. I guess I would recommend any sort of electric drill or sander.

Hey Steve, by no means am I saying it's your fault! We found the same issues with freak barrels when making e-mag extreme bodies. I was just giving some feed back.

I honestly love the gun. Although I am intending to get it stripped, polished and re-annodised :) (do you think that will cause any problems with tolerances etc?)

Whats the chance of getting a pump handle like the one you put on the special gold guns? They looked so good and I'd love something similar on my pump :)

Hey, keep us in mind for the re-anodising. We do all sorts of custom work along with our production runs. And the pump handles like on the Shatner Illusions.... Well, there's a pretty good chance that you'll see something similar to those in the near future... But that's still in the works, so you don't know about it yet.

Steve, I am in the UK and so I'll look to get it anno'd here I think. I have 'connections' in this area so it will be easier and cheaper for me I expect.

Are you doing a 12g quick change to go with the gun and maybe an 'L' stock? That would be great for building my SC version up. it would be nice to do it all from AMP parts.

Count me in for one of those pump handles!!! (if you can make it fit over the freak that would be all the better :) )

Right now we don't have immediate plans for making either of those products. We may release them in the future, but I couldn't give you any date to look forward to unfortunately. If we do get them in the development line I'll be sure to post the information here.

i would buy the AM Pump in a heart beat if AM released a semi-auto conversion, or if it took cocker front blocks or something...

I'd sooner say that Smart Parts should make smaller backs!

actually it's about a 50/50 chance that a current freak will work all depends on the style and what day of the week I guess.I've got 2 black that fit and 1 polished out of 6 ( 3-3)
