Leon, can you let us all know when you will be hiring. Also, my family is wondering about a little bit of funding to you, in return for advertisement on your field. We are a pizza place. Thats Amore pizzeria, 11223 First Av. Whitter. We are seriously all the way down lambert.

Turf X-ball? shouldn't xball be dirt? I mean I know they cant like put dirt inside, but turf x-ball would be different kinda. Not as down and dirty as usual.

Well folks, while i was currently waiting to meet up with friends to go to a party. I decided i'd check out the new Tombstone indoor field "Splat Factory" for the 3rd time since i was in the area. I wanted to see if there was an progress from the last times i checked it. The last 2 times i checked it, i was completely unsure if this was the address. But sure enough, after some splinter cell tactics and some mcgiver work, i confirmed for myself that 428 Berry Way, was, infact, the real address for the new field. At 12:28am today i snapped these pictures.
After turning right on berry way, from berry street, this is the front of the building. Left hand side. This is also the parking lot (Which i think may be to small)
http://img453.imageshack.us/img453/6501/splatfactory25ns.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
I believe this is the Entrance.
http://img453.imageshack.us/img453/9833/splatfactory34ec.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
After getting outta my truck to get a better picture of the words Splat Factory inside. You can kind of make out the word splat factory. Sorry these pictures were taken with a Cell Phone.

Another Picture of the front of the building
http://img231.imageshack.us/img231/7729/splatfactory46ry.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
Sorry these are all taken on a cell phone. I also wanted to get a better picture of the Side of the building to give ya'll a look at the size of the building. But there is some kind of factory down the road with gates, and a security guard and he kept driving up and down the street looking at me in a golf cart. So i left.
I dont know if this is illegal, but illegal shit happens when your bored.
::edit:: i didnt realize that the splat factory site actually updated again, and now posted the address. ha, im bored, and sorta buzzed, this really entertained me::edit::

01-22-2006, 12:44 AM
The only way I will go to this field is if the 2 black guys that were at tombstone (now at jungle) run the air fill station. Every time I would come to get air they would be doing something different, well actualy they would normaly be taking turns sleeping or playing dominoes or talking on the cell saying stuff like "damn thats off the chain dawg" or "ah fur reel?" And they would always make me laugh. Today I was at jungle and I heard them talking about pastrami sandwich from Douglas Burger that was "off the chain".
absintheparty66
01-22-2006, 01:45 AM
I remember getting an air fill, and they were listening to one of the NFL Games. And when shit happened, they would be like "OH snaps", "Motha F-err(but with more of an A, less errr) and such what not

Not so much, I wish it could relate to paintball. Because its not tombstone anymore, which is the closest I could relate to why this picture was done this way.
Like an image of a paintball figure (tournament, not the cliche recball image) to promote the growth of tournament style paintball and growth out of its roots.

i really hope they offer soem sort of membership option for regulars, like $150 for a year of entry and air, otherwise noone's going to play. $32 between getting in and getting air on weekends, and then another $45 per case (which'll prolly be white box junk)? are you f'in kidding me? my whole team can barely afford sc right now, forget splatzone. i was really enthusiastic about this place till i saw that page

Seems like most paintball players are broke @$$ and want everything for free or below cost. Looks like some players need to find a sport that fits their budget. Most of you complain about how much paint, entrance, or products cost. You go to stores like shop rats hoping to get to know employees/owners to ge a deal on products. All your doing is helping the store go under and deminish the stock which the store would generate $$ to get more or get new products. You get all tail hurt when their local shop is no longer in business, so you go to the next shop and do it all over again. What i'm trying to get at is, the prices are set for a reason, whether its overhead and employees (hopefully your local proshop is not just overpricing). If you like having your local shop to be there tomorrow, you'd better support it. Stop your whining or go play a cheaper sport/activity. :xeyed:

you're right in the fact that paintball seems to attract many players that don't have a lot of money, but you're dead f'ing wrong in saying those same players basically shouldn't be allowed to play the sport. we scrounge all f'ing week to afford to play on the weekends. having lower prices opens the sport up to people who normally can't afford to play it. as for people looking for deals, a lot of them happen to be tournament level players trying to make it on completely unfunded teams. it sucks to have to come up with $70 a weekend just to practice (i get deals on paint) if you play a full day and go through 2 cases no problem like i do. thats over $200 a month just in paint and entry, nevermind the $2.60/gallon gas to get yourself to the field and back. play a tournament and entry goes up well over 50 bucks a person, and you have to buy field paint. you can easily blow $150-$200 on a single tournament. and let's not even get started on guns and other equipment.
a lot of people who play this sport have many outside concerns from just paying for it. most people don't have mommy and daddy paying for everything. see how reightious you are when you get to college and spend $40,000 a year on tuition, or later when you have a family you need to support like many other players.
the whole point is there is a certain level where a field or store can choose to go above where they will cut out a significant portion of their potential market by making the game unafordable to play. stores and fields inherently do not turn a high profit due to the prices demanded by manufacturers and wholesalers for their product base. the stores and fields have to choose between making the game affordable for a wide array of people and turning lower profits on individual sales, thereby making money in the long run, or risk losing business to turn a higher profit per volume of sale, making quick money but at the cost of potential customers.
by taking care of their customers fields and stores build a loyal base which benefits them well in the long run. and after all, business is business, whether or not you're enabling a person who otherwise couldn't play to play, or turning an ideal profit off of someone who doesn't mind the cost

i totally agree with you. I save every dollar i acn get my hands on during the week just to play on the weekends. but now that i have a sponsorship everythings 10 x's easier, but that only came through hard work and dedication. i normally spend atleast 80-100 every weekend. but now i winterformal to worry about:xeyed:

and another thing that would be cool, you should leave part of one of the walls blank for players to sign their names and stuff like that. you can get a view of the diversity of people that show up
People would probably draw naughty things on the wall or make up names or something along those lines.

This graffiti really kind of makes me mad. It is cool that they put graffiti and stuff on the walls, but that looks a lot like a real gun. Which is promoting that guns and paintball guns are similar. Due to the paintball coming out of the barrel. Tombstone always stood for good, clean, safe fun.In this picture he also has no mask. No one ever got an eye tooken out at tombstone unlike sc.Just my two cents.

To those who are complaining about the cost, think about it, why has no one opened a field in Orange County??, Its because the rent is SO expensive, yes it will cost you more to play here, but will it really cost more??, the toll road to SC village/Jungle Island costs money as does the milage and gas everytime you drive there, where can you play during the week ?, Hollywood ,s paint is more expensive, we will have HIGH grade paint for $45 case, not crap, we are airconditiones, will be well run and lots of fun
also the paintings shown on this site are not finished, we are not stupid and would NEVER show someone without eye protection!!

This is comming along so nicely, and just in time for the hot weather to come back, good call on timing! Hope to see a really good indoor field, with good food I hope!
Its just the spolied brats bitching again! They don't know how to step up and appreciate all the beauty put into this new place. But the real truth is they can't afford to step up. So if you can't handle the prices go play in your backyard. You can piss on your bushes for free! lol!!!

Leon, how are you going to have the games run? I think there'll be alot of people and have to have high turnover of games to get everyone to play. 4 fields, like 12 man teams?, games will prob be short, prob end in ?6 minutes? people prob won't be using alot of paint.
how many groups are goign to be playing on one field per hour?
hoepfully, we won't be sitting around all day like some other fields. HSP
WHAT COLOR are the bunkers going to be? red?
you find my proteus helmet yet?

02-03-2006, 03:23 PM
we will run lots of games with teams/groups put on a roster so the turn over will be quick, Prob 6/7 minite games
The astro turf is finished, both tourney fields are done, the airball fields arrive next week, the Chemical WarFare rec ball field is finished except paint and Urban Choas field is framed, Plywood should be finished this weekend and paint next week, we should be open about Valentines weekend :) so keep your fingers crossed

Hope you enjoy spending at least $60/day for play ($30 weekday entry, $7 air, $23 byop)
That's $240/month if you only play once every weekend, $2880/yr for one person. My 15 man team would have to drop $43,200 a year for PRACTICE. Do the math on that.:dodgy:
If we can't get a deal w/ Splatfactory, we have to go to SC, that's just how it is for poor college students.

You can tell that they are almost ready to open, but there was absolutely no one around at the time. They should be working on getting it ready at this time of day. (about 11:30 am)

i disagree, loyal tourney players that play every weekend will make more money than rec ballers who play once a month. with lowere prices and more tourney fields they would get every tourney player in the area, plus most the business from SC and HSP in this area.

Hey fellow playerz
I went to check out the new indoor paintball park in Brea. I cannot wait for Splat Factory to open. The speed ball fields are very nice, soft turf fields and great to slide into a bunker to take your opponent out. I can’t wait to throw paint there, especially during a tournaments.
For the recball players the two fields will present a challenge.
The place is really clean, and surprisingly bright inside, well ventilated. So far it is the best park I’ve seen.
Great Job Leon, I can’t wait for the grand opening.

Nah... tourney players are hella-cheap. We'll all be there on wed-fri to keep the byop. Rec-ball is where the money's at... over 80% of paintballers are rec-ballers. I hate to say it but it's reality. Now over 80% of retail sales do come from tourney players but this is not a store.

It's not that cheap though......$30 for entry and $7 for air is already the same price I pay for entry, air and paint at SC. Yeah, they're going to make a killing off of recball, but those guys are a lot of one-timers while we're the guaranteed source of income every week. kinda random, anyway my 2 cents
But I hope not too low of velocity. Any lower than 250 is gettin' too low. But if it's like 250-300 then it will be good. I actually have no probs with 300, cuz I'm more of a back player, but I do sometimes enjoy mid-to front also, esp on old tombstone's hyperball field.
ALSO, you may already seen this, but the website has recently (like today) put up more inside pics. It looks like they will have a paintball store right in the building.

recballers are not majority one timers. though they may not frequent fields as much as tourney players, their shear numbers make up for that.
tourney players may be the most regular customers, but they are also the cheapest bastards alive. i know, because i am one of them. but i also live in the real world without such a skewed perspective. recballers do'nt scam for deals like tourney players do. how many times does it need to be said? TOURNEY PLAYERS ARE NOT THE BACKBONE OF THE PAINTBALL INDUSTRY.
time is money, and it takes a lot of time to drive out to corona, longer then it does to go to brea, cept for those that live out in the I.E. splat factory's prices aren't that bad, get over it people. look forward to playing
