i am getting team together with some guys i normaly play with, and i was wondering if there were some drills you experienced tourny players run that would be of use to me. i have thought of some of my own that try to simulate game experience to improve accuracy, reflexes, timing, and speed. i was just wanting some more input.
thank you.

Snap shooting is very important in tournament play. A good drill to do is a snap shooting drill. Take a pop bottle or can or whatever you want to use and line it up on the side of a bunker. Then, get behind another bunker and practice snap shooting at it. Make sure to only shoot off 2-3 shots and not to hang out after you shoot. You can also add to this drill by putting a can or bottle or whatever you chose to use at a few different bunkers. Then, when you successfully snapshoot the first target, run to that bunker (or another bunker) and come out snap shooting at the next bottle.

Hope this helps.

Snap shooting, crawling quickly, running and sliding in quick, shoot at a runner, shooting while running, shooting at small targets(barrels, hoppers, feet, packs, etc...), laying down shooting, reloading without looking and with one hand, COMMUNICATING!!!, that is about all i can think of right now, but there is plenty more you can come up with on your own

oh yeah... while doing any drill, shooting, crawling, running, etc... always have a live player shooting at you so you get the real experience, and know how you want to get the given task done.

A good drill is for your back men to be in the back on one end of the field and start the game with your front men on the other side. the back men stay out the whole time and dont et shot and and thefront men run to thier bunker off the start and cant shoot but the back men on the other side shoot at them. It makes your front men faster cause they are gonna get shot but cant shoot back cause you shouldnt shoot off the break if your a front man. have the front players with thier gun for the weight but no paint so they cant shoot and also have them post up to the next bunker and work on runs!!!

Another thing is to have very very good comunication know how many players you have and how many the other team has also make a layout of the field and number the bunkers and communicate to your players what bunkers the other team is at!!

hope this helps

Just want your guys feedback. I think my captain is really dumb. Instead of doing tournaments ever, all he wants to do is just play games. The rest of us want to do drills but he says if you want to do them to do them on your own. I think drills are vital if we want to win. What do you guys think, I'm in the right, right?

Unless there is holes in the bunker where he/she might be seeing you moving, play the bunker... Go from all sides of it, come out from the bunker in the same place about 3 times, lets say the top (snap-shooting while doing this). So he/she thinks your gunna come out of that place again, then suprise him and come out from the left or right side and gog em. Might sound weak, but its worked for me a few times in tourney play.
Also, start practicing shooting lefty, sometimes you have to do this while your in the bunker, so you don't get picked off from the guy on your right...

Hope this helped some...

My team is having pump patices for the next 8 weeks. We do this one drill 3 on 1 the object of the drill is for the one person to get the flag (center) an to then try to make it to the other side of the feild the other 3 people pick a bunker and stay there So it makes it alittle tricky. The pump guns makes it even more tricker.

I have a hard time imagining we're talking about a team playing in a division that would not be allowed to play local tourneys either...

So far as my ideas on drills...

1. Offset drills. This would be things like 2-on-1, 3-on-2, 3-on-1, etc. (depending on your team size, but the smaller numbers allow you to get more people working drills and simulates some of the more crucial end-game situations that are encoutnered)

2. Snap shooting. Nothing beats learning to snap shoot than just doing it. This is really sort of a spin off of the previous idea, but still... grabbing someone who is generally quicker and better than me (usually my playing partner Royce, who is one FAST little monkey!) and just doing a ****load of 1-on-1's with him has made a noticible difference in my playing. When we first started doing this I was anxious and uptight inside because he was a LOT better and faster than me; nowadays, I could care less who is on the other side of a bunker when I'm in a 1-on-1 "firefight" nowadays. I still get tagged more often than I like, but I'm a great deal more calm and confident knowing that I'm very likely going to be taking him out instead.

3. Get Spanked. Play against people better than you. Again, this is sort of a spin-off of the previous drill... Find people with a lot more experience and talent and get them to take a few hours however often and let them work you guys over some! Of course, you want to find guys that have a certain modicom of maturity and social grace... it does you no good to get spanked and then have those players laugh and talk smack. You want to find people who are cool and will help you learn what you're doing wrong, and help you discover and improve on what you're doing right.

This has been INVALUABLE to me as a player. Even though I don't have years and years of experience under my belt, I have been playing with and against some very experienced and talented players. I believe this has really pushed me along in this sport much, MUCH faster and further in the same period of time compared to where I probably would be today.

Hope this has helped and that these weren't totally redundant or pathetically obvious points.

This is a good profile.. The other person shouldn't see much of you.

Start on the opposite sides of a bunker, and bunker each other before you get bunkered. Don't forget to put like 6 or 7 on your buddies back. And when you scrimmage other teams, Bonus Ball them like no other. Because lets say you do play them in a tournament, they will be thinking about how bad it hurt when you lit the hell out of them during practice. And it will intimidate them. That will throw their game off. So always BONUS BALL people. I bonus ball everyone I drill with. And they bonus ball me. It happens, so hand it out as you take it...

Hope this helped..

Peace
**Moderator Note: Bonus Balling can get you penalites assessed in tournaments, it is not reccommeneded.**

Maybe it's just the camera angle, though... but if I saw someone hanging out that far, they'd be mine!

STTNGNibbles why would you shoot someone six or seven times? Once they're out for sure there's no need to light them up. I guess thats fine to do with your own teammates but try that some places and you'll get your *** kicked.

Check out Ryan teaching everyone a thing or two. I'll remember to put a few bonus balls into Jordan whenever I get the chance :-)

How you I practice. I Run up and Down my stairs once in awhile to get in shape so I can Run to my Bunker quicker, I practice Snap shooting By fliping up my foot stole and get on my knees and pretend to shoot at stuff quick, I also practice snap shooting by puting paint in my gun, go out side stand 50 feet away from these sqaure 6 inch tagets and take 2-3 shots really quick.

This is some good stuff, I am entering my first tourney, since only one other play lives near me, we do not get much time to practice.
One way I get practice is using saw horses with a sheet on them to make a quick bunker, and place different objects on the side and top of each bunker( shoe, plastic bottle, extra hopper). I shoot only 3 shoots and move to another bunker, this helps me not to focus on one bunker or one target. this way you can atleast practise moving and shooting, snap shooting. One thing that we did try, is to take your backmen and put them infront, and your frontmen and put them in back, this way it gives both sides a look and feel of what the other players is doing. But I will see if all this training works.

i have a question. how (if any of you do, or did) do you develop a, not only fast, but consistant trigger finger. do you understand? well, how do you obtain a fast rate of fire for longer periods of time. see i cant seem to shoot at a decent speed. Exp. shooting at some one running, i see where they are running, and i try to but a stream for them to run through. but sometimes i cannot get the paint close enough together to actually hit the guy. any idea's, or anything?

Ya gotta get used to the trigger of your marker.I just recently moved from an electro trigger back to a cocker trigger and its gonna take me some time to get reajusted to the trigger,Just practice with your gun.Over time you'll get a rythm down.
