View Full Version : Way to stop all cheating

First put enough cameras on the field to watch all players and moves and if a player is hit and tries to hide it or play on or wipe it eject the whole team for the tournament.Dont award any points until the game film is reviewed and if no cheating is found then the game stands as called by the refs.If cheating is found by either team then the other team wins and is awarded all the points. If both teams are caught cheating both are ejected and awarded zero points for the tournament.Second all guns tanks hoppers are brought there by by the promoter of the tournament and got from any supplier that sells markers, tanks, hoppers and the sponsers of the teams have to replace the inventory to the stores that it is got from. The players cannot take the markers off the field and any player found trying to change any settings on the guns the whole team is ejected and awarded zero points for that tournament. That would end cheaters and put our sport up so that it could stand on its own 2 feet .We need this to happen to so that would put the games back in hands of the true players and not the cheaters.I am sure this would have to be tweaked but this is a broad outline.Let me know what you think. :P

First not a kid .What flaws do you see? I could not figure out which forum to put it in. Cheating is a safty issue.:P
SO who is going to pay for those cameras? And who is going to monitor them? And what happens when the angle isn't clear? Instead of getting fancy, why not just increase the number and training of the refs and institute brutal penalties on any player caught cheating? As far as your equipment suggestions, that's ridiculous. Why is it any harder to set up a cheat marker at a retailer, then bring it out to the field, then take it back to the shop? Overly complicated does not equal effecient. Your ideas suck. Therefore, you must suck.

What do we want our sport viewed as a bunch of cheaters or what it is supposed to be ?They wont be able to set up the cheater guns because they wont know where the guns will be coming from (use different suppliers each time )and they can be tested beforhand .The promoters will pay for the cameras and once they are bought they can be used many times.Independant refs will monitor them. The personal attack is unwarented on your part.I only see a problem with this from cheaters .People who cant win without cheating.

Well unfortunately as much as i hate to say it there are cheaters out there in this wonderful sport we call paintball.
In my opinion i dont ever think that this will happen because the sport is just too fast-paced, nobody wants to go over footage of a game after every single game thats played. This will just lead to players yelling, complaining, and blaming others if they thought someone cheated and the cameras didnt catch it. I think there should just be more refs, or better yet just keep the ones they already have and just train them better, like show them what to look out for and how to deal with certain situations better...........just my 2 cents.

Well there could be no complaining because it would be caught on tape and could be seen by anyone complaining .It would not take that long to go over the footage on tape .I think it would take some time to perfect but this would lead a better view of paintball to the people we are trying to get to see our sport in a positive light. What parent wants to spend thier hard earned money to send thier kid into a sport with cheating, brutal language, and players getting physical over calls that could have called right?Who are we trying to get into this sport anyway? We want brand name sponsors like pepsi, nike, and others of that sort so we have to put our foot down and say enough is enough. This would only work in the pro leagues like P.S.P. and the N.P.P.L. and X ball but that is the ones we are pusing to get T.V. coverage. The teams would stop cheating because they would get tossed if they did and earn zero points and the sponsors would get tired of the teams getting tossed and make the teams they sponsor play at a higher level of play. This would bring honor back to the game.
You have obviously never gone over tape looking for something. I worked in retail security for years and I can tell you that it isn't that easy. Surveillance quality tape does not always give the angle and detail that will allow you to see everything. It is easy to miss things, or be less than 100% sure about them, even when you have a camera pointed right at the action. This idea simply would not work. You can argue it all you want, but it WOULD NOT WORK.

they all ready do that in nppl, psp, nxl, etc. i know they made a call some time in the opens i think. they had a call on a hang not being valid and the videos showed the guy getting hit with a paintball so they didnt get the hang it was a really big fight over it at the game if that should be used or not.

That is a horrible idea... eject teams from the tournament = retarded. And can't do that review thing because they have so many teams they have to get the next team on ASAP. They are on a fixed schedule and don't have time to review. Plus it would be to much extra $$$.
Cheating is part of the game. And when someone gets got cheating and they get a penalty, it adds more excitement.

wrong forum... cameras would def b a plus but... theres no way to stop all cheating players are still gonna argue and ppl are still gonna make mistakes. sometimes it looks like someone gets hit and would appear tht way on camra but the paint will blow off
its not worth it really

Never going to happen, and is a stupid idea.
People are ALWAYS gonna use their own markers. Using their own boards however IS a different story.
Like a PSP board, there should be a board they make with little or no bouce, impossible to imput ramping.. blah balh

I think IMO that my oponent is at a disavatage cheating because theyll run out of paint soo much quicker. And for what? 5-10 bps more? Just so they can shoot aimlessly at my bunker in hopes of getting me out? The only thing i have a major concern over is that people dont always watch their fps.

*sigh* I think you confused on the cheating we're talking about.
We're talking abut wiping... you think wiping will make them run out of paint faster?

I like the camera idea but 1865 is right, it takes alot of time to review footage from multiple cameras. The idea of using guns from stores is pretty lame. What store or wholesaler is going to give a tournament promoter fifteen grand worth of equipment to then be given to a motley crew of burnouts alchies and other red bull chugging paintball trash (Myself gladly included in the previous!)
Cheating is a personal issue. I think that all tournament players should be registered in a database that covers most major tournament series like NPPL PPL CFOA etc. full score sheets should be kept and cheating players should be reported. Think about it, if you KNEW that if you were caught cheating you would NEVER be able to play tournament ball again, would you wipe it or just call yourself out? I think most would get alot more honest if this would be the end result.
The bottom line is that I have been playing since 1993 and in 12 years this sport has STILL not gone mainstream. Cheaters are the primary reason. Get them out and the sport will grow exponentially!!!

redone Using cameras is a good idea. However, my team plays in the woods (not always in the same spot), and no one wants to pay for 'em.
~Cameras can be hit by paintballs.
~When the opposing team cheats, I know about it, and they will admit to it, but they still do it:tdown: .
~The penalty for cheating should outweigh the gain. In otherwords, perhaps the cheater(s) should have to sit the next game out or something along those lines.

Actually, cameras in the woods would be kinda useless.. and I'm prettty sure he's talking about tournaments, not random walk on where no one cares....

Well if we get rid of all the cheaters this sport would grow.We have to make it harder to get away with it .We have to make cost something or it will continue .Kicking teams out of tournaments would have a self policeing effect on teams and they would get rid of the people that cost them tournaments and eventually we would have HONOR back in the game.

its simple. in order to stop cheating we must clone Mr. T that way he can sit on the field(with a mask of course) and be like "I PITTY THE FOOLS WHO BREAK DIS TOURNAMENTS RULES." problem solved.

So paintball isn't growing? Funny how it happens to be the fastest growing extreme sport in the country right now. Cheating on lower level tournemnets is not that bad. As the founder of the South Dakota Paintball Association, I oversee around 100 paintball tournements a year in SD,MN, and ND. We get teams from Fla, to WA state, and we have caught 3 cheaters in all the time I've been doing this. More refs-in and outside the field, and gun checking is the best thing you can do. You expect promotors at a local level to spend all the money to do this crap? Do you really understand how little most promoters make off of a tourney. After all the overhead:site/staff/equipment/blah blah blah blah--it can cost 3000 dollars to put on a 10 team tourney. Come up with something practical, and we'll take you seriously.

If you wanna really stop cheating, it's easy, everytime you catch a cheater, beat the living S*** out of them untill they fall unconsious, and have to be taken to intensive care. after a while, no one will risk it.
