not really. it has a plastic sear so it wears down quicker then a metal one. if ya do there's the first mod you do, get it to a millin shop, give it to em, and ask for the sear to made exactly the same only in metal. but personally I wouldn't pick one up they just look so............ughish to me.

They are supprisingly durable. The sear - although plastic - is 4 times wider than the metal sear. My distributor put a bunch out in his rental fleet and they have shot 5 cases each of newbie play and are going strong. They are the best plastic bodied gun on the market - bar none. It is easy to clean and maintain. Has a 6-8 bps rof - accepts spyder barrels - though I wouldnt recomend upgrading the trracer sa as it is a starter gun only. I have sold lots of cheap guns to people who have spent lots on upgrades only to have a cheap gun that costs lots, but is worth nothing on resale. If it is your first gun and your budget is limited than consider it. Then next year move up to a cocker or bushie or matrix or something.
I have sold a dozen and have yet to have one come back
I disagree with mr y2k's advice about geting a new sear - the existing one works fine - is guarenteed for a year and wont cost you 50 bucks for nothing.

It is extremely durable, low maitnence, accurate, flush cocking, field strippable so I would say absolutely the best begginers gun on the market currently. I would highly reccomend it.

Have you seen the black version? It's sold under the name Black Maxx. They have an all black matte finish body and barrel with orange "Black Maxx" logo on the body, orange "PMI" logo on grip panels, and orange tip on the front sight blade. Otherwise identical to the Traccer. I'll try to remember to post a pic tomorrow.

Just traded for a Trracer SA. Wow. Looks cool. Looks like a space gun. The only thing metal looks like the pins, barrel, valve and the barrel receiver. Scares me that the grip panel screws are even plastic. I can't get them off because the allen key just turns in them. Seems too tight, or maybe my allen key is a wee small. The new models have a burst disk on the ASA. Adds about 1" to the pic above. The barrel finish is abhorible (is that a word?). Inside the barrel is rough looking. Bore seems to be a med size and fits ZAP and 32 degrees well. Diablo I had dropped right through. I'm guessing 0.688 ish, but who knows. The bolt bore is super smooth, i'm suprised. This thing is light. It's quite unbalanced with the 20oz I put on the back :) There's also quite the kick to it when fired because it's so light, but that a normal characteristic for a blowbacks. Trigger. What can I say. For a $75 dollar gun, you get what you pay for. There's quite a bit of forward slack and a dead spot feel. Kinda like a spyder or rebel's. I could probably do no more than 4 or 5 bps without fanning. It also came bone dry, I'd run some oil through it first. The bolt orings are funny looking. I replaced them with 014 and 015 orings. It seems to work and gives a better fit in the barrel bore. It cycled fine at 500 psi, didn't try to go any lower. I haven't put any balls through it yet. I'm afraid that the direct RF port will give some blowback, but only going 4 or 5 bps, it might not be an issue. I think this is a neato beginner gun. You can't go wrong for the price and 1 year warranty.
Does anyone know how to take the valve out? Does that front barrel receiver come off after taking out the pins and the screw on the sight? I can't help but take things apart. It's a disease.

I like the safty alot. It's a great idea to have a lever insted of a push button so you don't acedentaly put the gun on safty or take it off. Yet another great idea from a great company.

What is a sear? I recently bought a Trracer, and have been doing some research to see what other people think about it. In my opinion it has been working great, but I don't really have any experience to compare it to other guns. Anyway, I like it.

The sear is the peice between the trigger and the hammer and it holds the hammer back when you cock the gun. When you pull the trigger it pushes up on one end of the sear pivoting down the other end releasing the hammer. In miliseconds the hammer flies forward firing the gun and flies back catching on the sear again. There is a lot of force behind the hammer and can easily wear down a sear if the sear is not tough enough or it is not perfectly match up with the hammer. Something that I found out modifying my piranha's triggers.:xeyed:
