e spyder sticky 3 grips on an icon e?

hey I just bought a pair of e spyder sticky 3's but am having trouble fitting it on the icon e. I hear a lot of people do it but how can i get it to fit right (the top part is extremely tight and leaves gaps) any help would be awesome.

you need to cut them
