View Full Version : Hurricane Katrina- good luck ballers in/around new orleans

I wanted to say good luck to the store owners, field owners and ballers in and around the new orleans area. This hurricane is no joke, I hope everyone makes it out of this ok.
Keep in mind the most dangerous point of a hurricane is afterwards. Down powerlines, down trees, and no power causes fatal car crashes. People get killed driving when it's dark because when traffic lights are out, no one knows there is an intersection there! If no one knows there is an intersection there, no one slows down!
Also, check liquor stores for water if you need it. No one ever checks them for supplies.
good luck everyone!

yea guys I feel really bad about this hurricane, it's brutal.
I know some o fyou are going to have some very rough times ahead. Please keep in mind that you have your whole life to get it all back. Your life is more important than anything you will own.
I learned this when Andrew destroyed everything I owned in Miami.

I'm sitting here in Houma, bout 60 miles west of NO. I am watching this thing on the comp and outside. we just had the first rain ban come through. 30-35 gusts. No too bad but it will get really worse. Sad to say but I think is mainland Louisana's turn. NO has dodged bullets the size of space rockets. I feel this will be the one for NO. Thanks to everyone praying and hope for a quick recovery. I hope to see some of you ballers at the field in the future. Good Luck to all within 150 miles of the storm.

Ok guys this is what i have heard from my "Inside Info" .. They Blew the levees by Holy Cross School to save New Orleans.. Which in fact did nothing because as we know New Orleans is underwater right now anyways.. From the Violet Canal toward Sugar Mill and on is ok at the Moment. from Violet canal toward Chalmette is Underwater due to break or Overflow of the Levee... Chalmette high is Ruined/Destroyed and St.Bernard Parish is currently under Marshall Law... St.Bernard High has Damage.. as of my school (Andrew Jackson) i heard is was flooded.. so.. Keep Faith BallaZ and whut ever News i get from my Cuzion in St.Bernard High school right now ill Update u.. + he runs the pump of the Violet so they are doin everything they can to pump the water out.. As far as blowing the levee by holy cross, they probably did. The only reason that the city is flooding now is because the levee at 17th street canal blew. The one by holy cross blew during the storm and filled quick. The city is flooding at a slow rate compared to the rest, at an inch every 5 mins. As far as lower st.bernard, its gone, think about it down there floods during other storms that only flooded streets in chalmette area. Also a few different people have said the violet canal bridge is coverd with water

Fellow paintballer players
Ok, this is out of Character for me, but September tenth is a weekend that some of us have free because a game was going to be played.
Hurricane Katrina has hit the poorest people in the country.
This isn't an NASPBL thing, this is a paintballer seeing it's time to help.
I am going to ask for volunteers and people to donate clothing, bottled water and blankets to the people of Louisiana and Mississipi and Alabama. I am also going to ask for paintball fields to accept the donations of clothing, food and water, basic hygeine kit within pick up distance to the I-95 Corridor to accept those donations.
We'll leave on Friday night 9/9/05, and pick up as much as we can along the way. Some of us have SUV's, some of us have trucks. We can make a difference here.
Some of us are good cooks, we all have radios and the correct clothing for this kind of disaster.
These people need help, and we can give that help as paintball players.
This is in the concept phase, we'll have to go balls to the wall to do it.
If you are a field owner, or know a field owner that is willing to take donations, please let me know.
Pass on the word and help those who had little, and are now left with nothing.
I need people willing to make the 20 hour drive in shifts. We'd be back late on Sunday.
Who is with me?
If so contact me at Tom.Sutton@NASPBL.com.

Hey guys, this is tommy, I just wanted to say good luck to everyone, and hope they can get through this block of unfortunate events. The event that upset me the most, was when my grandfather picked up the newspaper and realized everything he worked for was washed away. I felt like crying, even though I'm 19 years old, I felt like a helpless kid. Everyone is going through the same thing right now, and all we can do is come together and get back on top. I, as a person, will never quit paintball, unless I am in a coffin; I say this because I am upset on how people give up the sport they breathe. We left for Houston, Texas, and I could have brought all my gear along, but my dog was on my lap, so I acted like an adult, which I am, about the situation and left my stuff behind, so my family could fit more of their things. I have gone threw 3 households in one year, and as soon as life was going right for me, I lost everything again. I was taken in by my gradparents, and have seen how hard life is, and what it feels like to pay bills. I have worked on a boat for 3 summers in a row for my paintball gear: (You might know me by having a blue/black fade e-orracle),I will not let that set me back, and i will keep pushing forward. (The reason i am opening up to you guys, is that, if i can survive, you can also). My phone # is (504) 256-3598 if you guys want to text me, or call me to help me out in trying to rebuild atomic blast paintball fields again. I hope they don't close for good considering how much people love and look forward to going there for their sport. I really hate talking about my problems like this, but i am trying to prove a point on how not to give up.
**If anything, Adam, "atomicimmigrant7**, should receive support from all of us, because his dad is in chalmette right now, standing up for what he believes in.
- God Bless You Guys, paintball, and the Paintballerz are like family to me, DONT GIVE UP!!!!

Jesus it is absolutely insane down here. I live in the Denham Springs area, and it is the craziest thing I have ever seen. Its utter chaos. People have lost their minds. No one has any gas because selfish people fill up their cars and 5 20gallon tanks while they are at it. There is a lot of robbing and murdering going on as well. There have been several killings around Springfield, and other places in Livingston. Im at home with my mom and 2 younger sisters, and Ive got a loaded gun about 5 feet away from me. Its that bad around here. Walmarts are...lets just put it this way: dont even bother trying to go to one. Women are being caught and raped, its just crazy. My lights just came back on about 30 seconds ago. I have no idea when we are going to be able to get back to school. They say Tuesday, but a lot of people still have no lights, no running water, no clean clothes, and now they are using public buses to transport people. And all this is in Denham/Baton Rouge area, far from the worst hit area, but far from the least as well. Just pray for everyone down here. Thanks guys.

Operation: Proud Mary: Disaster Relief Game
Hi all, ET paintball has agreed to work with me to produce a charity game for the Victims of Hurricane Katrina. The scenario game will be held on November 5th 2005. Operation: Proud Mary will be a 6 hour game that will raise money for the American Red Cross. The cost of the game will be $30 per player, and paint will be $75 a case. All entry fees and profits from paint sales will be donated to the disaster relief effort. Please join us in raising money to help those who had little and now have nothing. Gates will open at 8 AM. I would ask all those players who have played with me in the past to join me in assisting with the disaster relief. Thankyou in advance for your support. This is a good charity event. There will also be a Red Cross Presence to take other material donations. Pre-registration will be done through ET Paintball. Call: 973-347-3866

Everyone please pray or do whatever you might for the sake of everyone that caught this hurricane. I Live about 45 minutes from Biloxi, MS. Those people have it terrible. My heart and wishes deffinatly go out to each and everyone(minus the arrogant, pathetic, people that decide to shoot at rescuers).
I will be leaving next week to aid in the rescue efforts. This is a terrible thing, and it will be felt widespread. Unfortunatly the worst has yet to come, and all the help that is possible is needed.
Thank you to all who care....and I wish everyone involved the best.
Thanks.
Edit: Note, Biloxi was a point of reference....and thats all. ANYONE that has lost, suffered or whatever from this storm needs a hand of help.
Also, I will be in New Orleans aiding in the rescue efforts.

HAHA Wow let's somehow skew a natrual disaster so that it is somehow Bush's fault. Asking Congress for an EMERGENCY $10.5 BILLION is really doing nothing. 1400 National Guardsmen a day is really sitting back and doing nothing. Oh and let's not forget that it's become a third world country down there with roving groups of thugs raping, looting, and shooting Policemen and anyone else they feel like. It a real act of graditude when a Doctor comes and helps your community and the "community thugs" loot your house and the community does nothing about it. Or "Hey let's shoot at the helicopters coming in to rescue us and bring us food and water!" Cause that's going to help us get food, water, and shelter faster.
Think about a situation before you decide to blame it on someone, doing everything they can, some 2500 miles away that had nothing to do with the weather.

to many "pointing fingers", 2 sides for every story out there especially in politics. Anyways, what we can do is dig around our homes and give what can be used that we don't need. As soon as I get back on my feet, all my playing money is going towards food and supplies for these folks. Lets keep politics to when its time to vote not when people are at desperate needs.

After what happened to us last year in florida, I dont understand how our government doesnt have a natural disaster plan yet. How about starting a branch of the armed forces that is meant to STAY here in the US and help us when we need them.
You need food, water, shelter, medical personel, evacuation procedures. Vehicles, manpower, communications. Coincidentally, we all of this in Iraq now.
It just seems that anytime WE as americans need help, we have to "divert" resources from other countries so we can take care of our own.
Is it bush's fault? No, it's our GOVERNMENTS fault. We give these bastards 80% of what we make in taxes and they cant get their heads of their a$$es to help us out when we need them.
They tax us when we make it, when we spend it, and when we save it.
I was 14 years old when my family, along with some of my relatives lost EVERYTHING in Andrew. Plus I went through 4 of these hurricanes living in Tampa last year, I had an investment property in Deltona get eviscerated by a hurricane too.
This bullshat government that runs this country takes so much of our hard earned money. They bleed you from every orifice they can. But when YOU need help and money, they take forever to lift a finger to help.
Dont talk to me about "bush's fault", I voted for that moron

Well, just got off the phone with my uncle
pros
water is receding in st.b
uncle (corporal for stb. (russel gelvin) you know him jody) is fine now
cons
2,000 dead bodies recovered so far and still counting
all the government officials still in the civic center are being shot at by a sniper somewhere...
uncle sprained his knee and was airlifted to a FEMA thing. they told him they couldnt do anything, gave him 4 vicotin. he was then dropped off in Lafayette at the airport and was told he was on his own. Called someone he knew and got picked up, is on his way to texas for an MRI.

All you guys that have been hit hard. If there is anything that any of us from the west(specifically Houma) can do, let us know. Houma is pretty much up and running. Gas is hard to find(but getting better), grocery stores are running low on food and such. But, if/when you need anything, let us know. Good luck to all that is in and around NO.

40,000 ppl are missing in stb.
2,000 dead. over 1,000 unidentified.
mikey left his dm4's in his car.........which is underwater.
anybody have the link to that satellite image site?
i know most of chalmette has left for he hurricane.
from what i know of from a friends satellite phone is that the water is going down, FEMA is giving only about 9 more days of help, and there is a site to sign up for unemployment to get one weeks pay. jumenville isnt totally destroyed, only select houses were hit by the tornado, most have water. lexington is gone almost completely.

Hey,
I sit here in Colorado and can't do anything but watch this tradgey on TV. It looks like if any of you are thinking about going back to your homes in the worst hit areas the authorities are estimating it could be up to 3 months before basic services are re-established.
I have a flat bottom boat and was hooked up and ready to drive down and help but was told not to even try. The place is under marshall law and I would be arrested at best and/or shot.
I am trying to get three friends with their families out and up to Colorado. Just need to find the third friend. Tim Louie is working on that and so will I. We appreciate any help from anyone. If you are in need of a home and job please don't hesitate to pm me here. We have lots of family and friends that are willing to open up thier hearts and homes. Lots of jobs here right now. It is seasonal work up it is income to help.
Stay strong, faithfull and we will continue to pray for your and those missing safety.
I am damn serious about this offer.

Wow Caleb, good to hear that you are alright. good to hear about Lou, also.
Just found out yesterday that our house was robbed! Brian, our referee's mom, is a radio dispatcher at MPD. He was at work with her and they brought in a 32 Degrees duffle bag from a house that was robbed on Marigny Ave! They also found my high school ring, but no word on my grandmother's diamond ring, or my grandfather's masonic diamond ring! I am not sure that
they were recovered, got to get home to see! This still dosen't compare to losing a loved one or losing your house. Even in all of this, we are still blessed.
Hope everyone is ok.

Dooley,
That is great news. Our prayers for Lou have been answered. Is there any way you can contact Lou again and let us know his situation. All and any details would help me sleep at night.
Tell him Rob from team Storm, Denver Super 7, said HI. If they need to re-locate He and his family are welcome here.
Thanks for the update. Be careful and may God bless you and your family.
