My DXM Trip

DXM is the cough suppressant in robotussin that make you trip. Basically you're drinking the robotussin just for the DXM.


A couple days ago I experienced my first DXM(robotussin) trip. I am not the heavy drug user, I usually just stick to smoking pot and eating the occasional mushroom. But this was nothing like pot or mushrooms. It was amazing, it started with me and a friend going to a local supermarket to steal some robotussin extra strength cough. We got that and met up with another friend who we took to rite-aid to get another bottle of robotussin. We then headed off to the nearest dollar store to pick up some ginger-ale and crackers to help settle our stomachs. ( if you dont know alot about dxm you start to feel very nauseus about 30 minutes after you drink it) We then head to the dollar store parking lot with our robotussin crackers and ginger-ale on the count of three we all hold our noses and chug the 4oz bottle of robotussin. We drank the robotussin at 6:30 pm.


Now I know 4oz may not seem like alot but its very thick and tastes HORRIBLE. We all finish our robotussin no problem then we just sit around and talk for a while. And make a phone call to an experienced DXM user to come trip sit for us. We get up and walk around for a bit and around 7:15 I start feeling the effects of the oncoming trip (nauseus, dizzy) around 7:50 the DXM hits me like a truck. We were all sitting in the back of this ice cream place in my town and i stand up to walk a bit and it just feels amazing I never felt so good in my life. I was robo-waling my legs off (a robo walk is the walk most people do when they drink robotussin) My arms were swinging and I was picking up my knee's and walking at a slant. It felt like i had 8 elbows in each of my arms and 8 knees in each leg. We walked for about an hour just walking around and talking. We went back to the ice cream place and I only really wanted to be around the people who also drank the robotussin and my close friends.


It was about 9:00 and I was still tripping hard, we sat for a good amount of time and all of a sudden I had to puke i puked everything in my stomach ginger-ale robotussin and the crackers. This brought the trip into full effect for about 20 minutes I felt disconnected from my body even though my friends were right next to me it sounded and felt like they were 100 feet away. I felt like I was dead and looking at myself and my friends from a birds eye view. This really made me think about death and if this was what it was like to die. And for the rest of the trip I could not stop thinking about what I was gonna do with my life and just thinking about the future. I felt so close to my friends who were there. It really is a bonding experience so if you plan on doing DXM only do it with people who you are friends with. And make sure you dont hang out with people who will try to mess with you while you are tripping. Anyway, I got home around 1 am took a shower and just hung out till around 3 am when I felt tired enough to sleep (DXM is a long trip 8-12 hours) . I woke up the next morning feeling very sluggish and I had an upset stomach. Nothing too major.


Well there is my DXM write up for you I doubt many of you will read it all. All in all it was really good and made me think alot about life, me and my friends really got close during the trip(in a non-homosexual way).
If you plan on doing DXM make sure you read up either in books or on the web, if you get the wrong kind or the wrong brand you could really hurt yourself.
I will not be held responsible if you read this and try DXM and overdose and get really sick or die. Try DXM at your own risk.

this is true, if you take DXM in its pure form for an extended amount of time you can really damage your brain. If you drink Robotussin for an extended amount of time you can cause serious damage to you liver and kidneys.

That's called extraction. It doesn't make the trip any better at all other than the fact that you don't get the gross taste. And to OD on DXM you need to take a LOT. Ussually if people drink cough syrup and have adverse reactions it is because there are active ingredients other than DXM.

Yeah, its like how you can overdose on anything. It's called the LD50 of that substance. Which is the maximum amount of that substance that your body can handle before you will die. I'm currently trying to find the LD50 of DXM. But of course this is only short term. There are of course adverse affects of long term heavy DXM use.

What do you mean by its pure form? It doesn't really matter if its pure or not because you're still getting the same number of mg's of DXM. And 1000 mg's of pure DXM is relativly safe.

I find it odd that you frown apon cough syrup use. Do you have a problem with DXM in gelcap form? Powder form? Or is it just the idea that it's also used for cough syrup? And I don't recomend anyone trying LSD if they are amatuers of drug use. LSD is a complete and utter mind **** and if you aren't prepared it can be dangerous.

Horrible idea. The only way that that is moderatly safe is if its only nitrous, and even then it is VERY dangerous. Inhalants are frowned apon by even some of the most irresponsible and careless drug users.

Your a *******. Doing that **** like dust-off is one of the worst things you can do. In regards to the DXM, sounds kinda cool. My friend did it once, but never really did it again. I wouldn't ever do it though. I advise you to stick to the bud and occasional shrooms.

Here's a post I made in the drug opinion and experiencethread in TCC on Something Awful.

DXM: 7/10
PREP: Well I picked up a bottle of Wal-tussin last week and since I stayed home today with a ****ed up leg I decided what a better day than today? I woke up at 10 of 11 am. I took the 4 oz bottle, with 360 mg's total inside of it, and brought it into the bathroom. I took 2 glasses, filled one with cold water and filled the other with the tussin. I pinched my nose, chugged the tussin, then chugged the water. I took toothpaste and coated the inside of my mouth, minty fresh.
REPORT: About an hour into it I started to feel good. I found my cat on my parents bed so I layed down on their bed petting my cat for about 20 minutes. I then went to play videogames for a few hours. My speech was ridiculously slurred and the things that came out of my mouth were jsut stupid while talking on xbox live. I felt ****ing great. EXCEPT for the god damned itching. The whole time I was combing and brushing my hair(hey its long and curley) so that I could scratch my scalp. This was the most intense itching that I've ever experienced. I would randomly flip out and throw the headset and controller down, rip off my shirt and start vigorously scratching my entire upper body. I would be flopping around my bed struggling to find comfort. After about 30 seconds I could calm down after taking deep breaths. Also, I had absolutly no hunger during the whole trip. I made 2 white castle burgers and after taking 2 bites they were just gross. My friends came over while I was still at my peak. I suddenly turned into a giggly retard around them. They came in and saw me staring at them, wide eyed, with huge pupils while i slowly combed my hair. They burst out laughing and that just made me euphoric and everything was hilarious. I finally sobered up when I took a shower.
If it wern't for the itching this would be a 10/10. I don't plan on doing this again anytime soon, but I will definatly do it again. Is there anyway that I can get rid of the itching next time?
I've since learned that taking ONE SINGLE DOSE of an antihistamine like Benadryl or Dramamine will eliminate the itching. Taking more than one dose can be dangerous though. So if ithcing does somehow begin it is best to just relax in a cool and non-humid place. Taking a cool shower can also help.

If you cannot find acid I'm guessing you aren't the smartest kid either. You can find acid these days, but the stuff you get is all diluted. Drugs are lame.

DXM .....i dont know waht to say, ive done it many times, starting last summer... im now coming close the 50 Trip limit that it has (you no longer feel the effects after 50 trips ) i dont know what to say... dont try it if u dont want to , and do it if u want to , your bodys your choice and do with it what you want...


heres a story / whatever you want to call it , that i wrote on DXM,

caution: makes little to no sense unless you know what i was talking about, most of the time its what im feeling.. (ex. as the chair sinks back into the universe and the head tilts forward and the elbows dig further than ever)... i felt like i was spinning and flipping



i belive the day of judgement is upon us and the time is clear when and where we should all respawn into our new lives or new beings. as thou the time as coming neerer to conclulde the time that we call our adolsence our time of adulthood is bringin soon closer teh responsiblitys of death and war. once these times have fallen , all will be down from there, the times we have , the memorys we share and the things we do will all start to slowly slow down, this is the best time of our lives and we have to enjoy it the best we can... we have to stop not only the facist govenrmtent of our nation from restricting our freedoms but we have to stop ourselves from restircting ourselfs from our freedoms. once the barrior of freedom breaking has been brokend it will no longer matter the way of this children in the swirling corn grass. as the chair sinks back into the universe and the head tilts forward and the elbows dig further than ever... i will rember the times we have spend , once everything is so close to you , you never want to let it go , once it is here it never wants to be turend away again. once it is turend away it will take so long to rejuivinate and rebuild the sociecty that we have built called our every day life which we attract ourselves to as the norm of our socilizim. once we break through this nonsense of never beliving and never considing to other belives, i belive it is going to be gone, along with the judgemetn and the raptsure....im sure that by this time you are trying to figur out by whcih platue i stand high above the world, as if it was a close universe. the world seems so far away and everything tilted. once i see the platues in far off distance i realize that the thrid is what i am sanding on and reaching for the fourth. i canno longer feel the capailbilties of the actions in wihcih the hands upon my body are taking.... i can no longer realize what is real and what is fake.... there are many many band instruements and musical men in my houe playing she lost the blues old johnny. once this song expires to cease to live and to realize what is happenig i will most likely retire to what is called my once long home of love and living..

Wineinabox - Correct, ketamine would be a much wiser choice than DXM. It is much stronger and much safer. Get real drugs people. If you're a real bad*** you'll try PCP,(not recommended, very dangerous) Ketamine, DXM, and PCP are all dissociative substances, not hallucinogens. Be smart about your drugs and research them thoroghly before you try them.

its dead in memphis. i knew a guy who knew a guy (always the way it goes) who had 7 of like 25 sheets that came from colorado. 3 bibles went through me (not THROUGH me, not all of it, it was easy to sell for $8+ dollars a tab) - the stamp was like a circle with diagonal line through it, and the line extended outside of the cirle on both points

PCP is considered a dissociative drug. Granted that dissociatives are hallucinogens, dissociative is a better name for them because of their dissociating tendencies. I live in south dakota and i know where to get pretty much any other drug ex. weed, coke, meth, shrooms, etc... not like i do any of them, but acid is extremely hard to find around here. I would have a better chance of finding ibogaine than acid any day of the week. If anyone knows where to find some cid, i would be more than greatful to find out.

DXM has 4 dose-dependant plateaus, meaning the trip doesn't simply increase with higher doses, you'll experience 4 VERY different plateaus at 4 different dose ranges.

i drank robo once....worst experience of my life i thought i was dying for about 3 hours then my damn dog turned into a cube! Plus i started shaking uncontrolably and my friends couldnt help me and really freaked them out 2. I felt like my brain was unraveling. **** robo! **** all drugs except pot. Its the only thing u cant die from! Alcohol, Ciggarettes, LSD, Coke, Heroin, all horrible man made death!! In my opinion ;) I suppose mushys are okay but they just arnt for me, too intense! Stick to the bong kiddies, it wont do u wrong! But i also must say being a regular pot smoker there is a point of Too Much pot. I recently cut way back and only smoke about once or twice a week if that. Moderation is key, plus you enjoy it more! Just my 2 cents!

okay, i am a god at drugs. i've done dxm quite a few times and i know the effects quite well. if this interests any of you kids i have a warning DRINK PLENTY OF WATER not like drown yourself or freak out about it. But i ended up in the hospital because it can cause an allergic reaction by tearing apart your fat tissue for water. drink water through out the trip but not too much. and i drank the amount a 300 pound adult male is supposed to OD at i was 15 and 140 pounds lol
