View Full Version : Rebel LE Chopping...HELP!!

My Rebel LE has recently started chopping paintballs. I've tried to use different paint, doesn't seem to help. The chopping is getting to the point that I can't use the gun because the pieces of paintwedge between the mainbody and the bolt and the bolt jams.

The bolt is from a vertical feed Rebel LE, rear cocking. Is there a quick fix anybody out there knows of? A replacement bolt that would work? Bolt modifications?

Has anybody had a similar problem?

Thanks in advance.

might try a rear cocking jambolt for a spyder.. www.jambolts.com .... get the delrin one...should work just fine after you break in the spring

Make sure you ball detent is still good. When my LE's ball detent went out it would chop paint.

3 things,

1) A spyder bolt WILL NOT FIT in a Rebel
2) Is your LE the side vert feed?
3) you may be outshooting your hopper, my friend chopped soo much less with his LE when he got a revy.

1. Take everything out and clean it and put it back in, clean each part again as you put it back in.
2. make sure you have a revi. If you have a revi, then go get yourself an empire reloader, they are sound activated, but cost like 55 new.. i had one, perfect for anything not shootin over 14 bps (feeds 14)... other wise yu need an egg or halo or empire... but i doubt you'll need that much.

I contacted 32 degrees directly and they were really nice. I sent the gun into them and they looked at it. When I got it back, they had changed out the velocity spring. They said that my velocity spring was too stiff.

This troubles me. I had replaced the stock spring with a stiffer spring from a 32 degrees Rebel Spring Kit early this year. I did this because I always had to turn the velocity adjuster all the way up to get 275fps and it would shoot in the 230-260 range when the CO2 tank was cold.

What troubles me more is that when I responded to the tech at 32 degrees about my concern that I might be (haven't tested it yet) back to square one...maybe the chopping problem has been resolved but now I have the velocity problem again. The tech pretty much responded by saying I was lucky that they even looked at it because it wasn't under warranty and that I should just save up for a newer gun.

Maybe the gun is 5 years old...maybe 3. So I should throw it away? Is that what 32 degrees is saying about their products? They are good until the warranty expires then toss them? I'm sorry, but that really ticks me off. My gun is better quality than the new Rebels, it just doesn't have the electronics. And if a 32 degrees marker is only good for a year or two...forget it. I have a Spyder that's older than sin...original model Spyder One...still works great...and if something goes wrong...most new spyder internals are exactly the same.

I'm not trying to flame 32 degrees...I REALLY like this marker. Last season I used it as my #1 general class marker rather than my Spyder because it felt great and gave me +2bps over the Spyder. And I guess that's what really ticks me off about the tech's comment...I really like this gun and don't want to just "toss it" because 32 degrees is too lazy to help consumers with older markers.

I'm going to test to see if the chopping has been resolved. Then I'll take it into a local paintball shop and see if they can chrono it for me. They probably won't because the local store is even lazier than 32 degrees...but I don't have a chrono and need to know if this gun is shooting 280fps with the stock spring back in it.

As to other comments...I bought two rear-cocking Spyder bolts...neither fit as one user mentioned. I normally use a VL2000...I only shoot 7bps. I tried a Revy just to see if maybe that was the problem...it wasn't. It's not a loader issue or a paint issue or a barrel issue. It's an internal issue with the gun, probably a bolt/spring issue like the tech diagnosed.

idk what to say. i guess u get stuck with it chopping...cuz no aftermarket stuff for it.

^like he said buying a reloarder (revy) won't help much cuz it feeds at 7 BPS not 14. they say 14 but it never ever can feed that fast. i had one and i might as well have used gravity.

The 12 volt xboard revvy feeds at the exact same feed rate as the reloader.

Asian, when you get the marker back take the bolt out and check the inner body for any kind of wear. Take your finger and feel inside for anything thats not smooth. Also check your ball detent. When my ball detent went bad it chopped paint. I changed it out and it put a burr on the bolt and still chopped. I had to really check for burrs on everything but finally found it, sanded it down and it been working fine for over a year.

The tech told you that prolly cause they had a few bad batches of LEs at the time. When this model came out 32 degrees was selling to NPS and was having some issues. I've had my true vert LE (there is a crappy side feed vert) for 4 years now and the ball detent has been my only major problem. As for replacing anything, the bolt is special for this marker as is the gripframe. I was working on making some bolts for this model sometime back. I ended up getting a cocker and letting this marker fall on the back burner.

I gased it up tonight. I noticed a faint leak when I put my ear up against the mainbody and vert feed. It was very faint...I'm thinking the normal sound a blowback marker makes when aired up? Anybody care to air their's up and see if they hear it?

I think I'll take your advice and sand the bolt and body...polish the internals. A couple questions...Is there a way to get the body apart in halves? Also, what do you use to sand the parts? I may also replace all the o-rings.

I found a place selling a Delrin bolt for a rebel...do you think this will fit in an older Rebel LE (vert feed)?

I also have a turbo valve. I tried to install it once before and it caused a leak. Maybe I should try it again...maybe with a change of o-rings, it will seal properly. Maybe with that valve I can increase the fps despite the less stiff spring?

The leak is a cupseal going bad, before you gas it up take the barrel off, drop 2-3 drops of oil in the asa, gas it up, and fire it a couple of times. See if it still leaks.

No on getting the body into halves. There used to be a sticky in the kingman forum on how to polish a blowback marker.

Try the bolt and see, you can always return it. From the bolts we tried a few years back I couldn't find any that fit right.

Try geting some thicker o-rings (a few thousandths) on that valve. You can prolly find them at autozone. They should be able to size them and find ya some upsized o-rings.
