So i had the radio on the other night and it was just sorta playin in the background when all of a sudden i hear the words "joy division". I start listnening more attentively and it appears that the actual joy division was a group of jewish women held prisioner by the nazis and forced to commit sexual acts for them.
kinda wierd
O_o Joy Division is also a band, they rock too lol

Lol, I'm pretty sure the paintball team didn't have that in mind when picking their name...

Joy Division is expressing their pure "joy"for the sport of paintball. And since they are so diffenerent "JOY Division" was felt most appropriate.

Just 'cause they're from london, does not mean they can't be related... Maybe the members of the team like the band/ thought the name was catchy. Think before you post you ignorant ####!

being that ian curtis killed himself isnt it hard for them to make a comeback, are you sure it wasnt new order since the remaining members of joy divison went on to make up new order after the death of ian curtis.

Joy division was a punk/post punk band from the late 70s. They did songs like love will tear us apart, and a bunch of other good songs. Their lead singer died in may of 1980, so they changed thier name to New Order. You might have heard of New Order, they do dancey sort of stuff. Their biggest hit was Blue Monday, which orgy covered a few years back. Thats thier history in a nutshell.
And if you want to be really really technical about it, the band got thier name from a book about the holocaust.
Edit: and they weren't from london, they were a ways north of London if I remeber.

I was listening to a few joy division CDs yesterday and started to wonder about that. What you just said was how the band got their name.. not sure about the team though..
